College Student with a Meal Plan
Hey everyone! First time poster with some questions. As a full time college student that has a meal plan, I'm having a bit of trouble sticking to the basic five meals a day, 1500 Kcals total. With money being scarce, and the food they serve mostly being full of carbs, what can I do as an alternative?

Hi, if the food they serve is free, then I can understand wanting to utilize it to cut costs. There are things you can try, which I myself think I'd find difficult to do but if its the only option.... You could calculate the calories/carbs as you are eating and only eat as much of the serving that fits with your plan. I have recently taken to asking for goody bags to take things home with me when I have been out for a meal; but these things can feel a little embarrassing to do, but it also means you have food for later and the exercise in discipline and will over embarrassing odds feels kind of triumphant.

Is the food they serve free? If it isnt, then calculate the cost to see if you could use the money for healthier options. If you dont have much time, then you can cook meals in advance. The best things are hearty soups and stews in a food flask and/or salads.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice! I apologize for not being on in a while. Christmas got a little crazy. Now that I look back at last semester, I realize that was what I was doing already! I had just forgotten that I need to be counting those calories. Thanks again for the input!
