Les Mills COMBAT!! Start Date December 31st-- I need help!
accountability goals combat december 31
12/22/12 4:23 PM
So...the Fitness Journey continues emoticon

A little about me...I'm soon to be 39 (GULP!!) and I have a weightloss goal of 15 lbs (maybe more...I haven't weighed lately). I am due to complete LES MILLS PUMP next week, and I will roll right into COMBAT on Monday, 31 Dec.

Before I started LMP, I had taken 6 months off from working out and watching my diet. I had a few goals: workout consistently, complete LMP, lose weight. Well, 2 out of 3 ain't bad ;) I did get into the workout habit and I will complete Les Mills over the next week. However, my weight didn't budge and I own it--too much holiday and b-day celebrations!

So...I want to attack Combat like a Fitness Warrior and I need help with the accountability. I want to log my intake on MyfitnessPal and these are the 3 things I need to watch:

1) my overall caloric intake
2) my carbs (I follow the Primal Blueprint--mostly!!-- and Mark Sisson suggests keeping your carbs b/w 50-100g for weight loss)
3) up my protein intake

I KNOW that I if I can do those 3 things AND be consistent w/ my workouts, I can face being 39 feeling healthy, strong and LEAN. I hope you'll join me and help me out...I definitely need Accountability Partners and I want to encourage you, too. emoticon

Hi CJ! I'm starting LMC on January 1st. I just joined a new Challenge Group - we're all going to do LMC together! We'd love to have you as an accountability partner!! I can send you the link to the message board thread as soon as our Coach who is running the group creates it.

I am 43 and I too use MFP. I struggle to consume enough protein daily too - I eat a (mostly) vegetarian diet and it is hard to keep my protein levels up. But it is doable...I did a pretty good job over this last round of P90X. I have not heard of Primal Blueprint before...something I need to check out! Carbs are my worst enemy - especially during this time of year! LOL

I'll send you a buddy invite so that I can reconnect with once the message board is up and running - hoping you'll join us!

I tried the Kick Start workout today - it is a killer - but AWESOME. They have you do 234 kicks in a row!!! WOW. My legs will be in very spectacular shape by the end of this series!!

Best wishes,
Kristin emoticon

Hi Kristin!!!! I'm so glad we found each other here. I wanted to start on 1 January as well, but I see the calendar is 6 days straight and I really need Sunday off. So, I'll go from Mon-Saturday every week. **Oh! If you're mostly vegetarian, you would not care for the Primal Blueprint...we eat meat (grass-fed and organic, when we can).

I am VERY nervous about Combat! I've been through Insanity (twice), most of Asylum, and a few other BB programs. I don't recall being so nervous before a program before!

B/C of where Christmas fell in line w/ my start-date, I can't do the 7-Day Jump Start, but I'll be eating cleanly the rest of this week so that I feel energized enough for Combat next Monday--GULP!!!

Yes, please let me know the info for the group. I know I will need the accountability to stick out this tough program for 2 months! I NEED and WANT some body-transforming, so I know I have to stick with this!

I see that you and I are watching the same things, CJ! I probably do okay with the protein, but I know that I am consuming too many daily calories overall. And I eat way too many carbs. I have an extreme sweet tooth, and it keeps me in trouble. I will be 40 next April, and my goal is to have a six pack when I go to Aruba to celebrate. I have completed Turbo Fire, ChaLean Extreme, Hip Hop Abs, did the first month of Insanity (wasn't motivated enough to continue for some reason), and I do some Body Gospel at my church fit clubs. I just started COMBAT last week, and so far I love it! My plan was to wait and start it at the beginning of the year after getting all this bad holiday eating over with. But I was so excited about trying it, and could not wait! Hopefully I can get back on point with my eating. I plan to start the Maker's Diet on Jan 2nd, so I know that I'll start seeing some awesome results after that! Let's keep pushing play!!!

Sam--YAY!!! Let's do this!!! We'll basically have 2 groups...I like this more personalized one, but there is the larger group (over 500 people) that Dan and Rach (from the videos!!) sometimes chime into. Would you like me to add you to that as well?

mommartin-- I know...it wish it were easy and I could just say, "Ah! I just won't eat 3,000 calories today", but it seems I need to work a little harder than that now emoticon I was constantly hungry w/ LMP, so I was consistently going over my caloric limit. I want Combat to be THE PROGRAM that gets to me my goal, so I am going to work extra hard on staying at my caloric level this time. So much of your post felt like I could have written it--we can definitely relate to each other emoticon

I'm going to make it a point to go through the meal plan tonight. I will work hard to stick to the plan and watch my intake. Please help to keep me accountable! I really believe that my nutrition is the one thing that keeps me from getting the results I want.

I'm excited to start with you all!

Okay, Team!! Here we are: DAY ONE of 60! I'm READY to do this!! I'll be posting daily now, since we have officially begun emoticon

Sam-- I just added you to 2 groups on FB...our more personal one called "Project Flab to Fit" and the huge one specifically for COMBAT that Dan and Rach sometimes chime into.

Here are my goals, Team...I know I've already covered this, but I need this for myself--to tell you all what I'm aiming for so that this time, I don't miss ;)

--Log into MFP every day. This time, I will work very hard to watch these 3 things:

1) Not going over my caloric limit (1800) for the day
2) Upping my protein intake (that was so lacking during LMP)
3) Clean eating (following Primal and the Combat meal plan)

I got into the habit of working out consistently with LMP, but I missed my diet mark with the holidays. Not this time! Now that I'm in the workout habit, I only need to really focus my energies on getting my diet right. So I thank you for being here with me and helping me along!

Speaking of, time to get dressed and get this first workout in!

Workout #1 is DONE!!! It took WAY longer than 30 minutes b/c we (hubby and me) were trying to figure out the kicks. Vince used to practic Kung-Fu, so he was of some help. Anyway, it was fun and I'm looking forward to tomorrow's workout. I can see that if I trim down through my diet, I will be able to see some ripped abs later. I hope so! Here's to ringing in the New Year by working HARD!!!

Happy New Years, Everone!!

Just found this thread this morning--I started yesterday as well.

I've done Power 90 and Power 90 Master Series (at least most of it), but really fell off the wagon the last two months. Workouts were inconsistent and, well, diet turned to crap in December. But, I'm motiviated to get back at this and I'm glad to find a group with folks in my age range dealing with the same challenges! I was reading through everything and looking at the meal planner and caloric needs. I like to use the Meal Planner on Beachbody.com--it seems to help me, though Combat isn't one of the options yet, so I had to get creative. I'm targeting a balanced diet with 2100 calories a day--now to stick with it.

Power HIIT this morning was a smoker and my shoulders are still on fire, but it feels so good to be back at it. Looking forward to see how everyone progresses!

ezampedri--Welcome!! I will be doing Day 2, in about 30 minutes (GULP!!). My sister said it's tough and that means a lot coming from her b/c she's in the fitness elite--she looks like the trainers on the videos!

It's really hard to eat well during the holidays, isn't it? But what I love about the new year is that there is a lot of potential. We start w/a relatively clean slate and a whole lot of motivation/determination.

I'm just about to hit 39 next month (holy crap...I can't believe I just said that!!) so I get what it's like to tackle diet plans and workouts when you ain't no Spring Chicken any more emoticon Still, Tony Horton is in his 50s and looks absolutely amazing--we can have that, too!

Until next post. I hope to survie today's workout ;)

Whew!! That was TOUGH!! HIIT 1 was way harder than I imagined a workout could be. I just finished LMP last week and I was initially worried that I would lose a lot of leg muscle. Nope...if all the HIIT workouts are like the one today, there is no chance of me losing muscle tone.

I'm glad that workout is done. If you haven't yet, PUSH PLAY today!!

Hola! I'm on day 2 as well. I'm a Turbo Jam fan and although have Turbo Fire, I didn't care for it. I'm doing the Ultimate routine so today was power HIIT 1 & Inner Warrior. I'm sore but finally in my happy place. I also using Myfitnesspal for food journaling and a fitbit to keep track of calories.

I'm 41 and my initial goal is to lose 10 pounds.

Day 3 Power Kata done--and I am smoked! Unfortunately my heart rate monitor moved, so I only got about 25 minutes worth of readings and still read 505 calories burned, so I'm guessing I was closer to 800 for the full workout.

angsha--you've already made GREAT progress!! Keep at it!

sprout 5533--I know exactly how you feel. I woke up this morning and my shoulders were already crying "uncle".

Have a great one everybody!

Hi, everyone. I would love to join you if you have room for one more. I started LMC in December, but I got really sick and had to stop for about a week. So I just started Day 1 again on Monday. I still have about 50 pounds to lose, and I am determined to be at my goal before my 39th birthday in September. I know that Combat is going to help me get there! I LOVE this program.

I just finished up Combat 45. I feel muscles I forgot I had emoticon. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
