Hello, I am trying to lose weight and get tone. I am 5'5 and weigh 155. My routine is insanity then running 4 miles a day Monday - Saturday followed by weight lifting. I take meta-ignite which helps burn calories along with physio-burn which helps target fat cell signals to impact metabolism before my insanity workout then I take shakeology after insanity. After the weight lifting is when I take whey protein. I eat health and watch my calories. The other day my running partners told me I was doing my routine wrong and will eventually gain my fat back easier due to the supplements I am taking. Am I doing my routine wrong? If someone could help me out with this that would be great. Thank you for your time.

Supplements are a completely personal thing. I like to stay lighter on supplements, especially ones that claim to more significantly impact your metabolism. But like I said I think that's a personal choice for people to make. I use shakeology and the results and recovery formula post hard workout days.

It does seem like you are doing A TON of exercise though. Insanity + running + weight lifting. Every day? In my eyes that's just way to much, you probably aren't eating enough to really support that either if you are working out that much.

Hi! I agree with the above. You are doing a lot of exercise. If you are not eating enough you will plateau in your weightloss. What is your goal?
Also post workout I recommend a 4:1 carb : protein ratio vs just protein. Your muscles need to replace their glycogen depleted during exercise. This helps with soreness and muscle recovery.

How do you feel after your workouts? Are you training for a race? Insanity helped my running.

I would love for you to join us at our support & motivation thread! Great group!

I agree with you. I am not eating a lot to support that much exercise. I only take in like 2400 calories a day. I figured that number out with the insanity formula. I guess I just really want to get into shape and I am over doing it. taking the supplements I went from 185 to 155 in 3 and a half weeks I'm afraid I'm losing it to fast and as a result am hurting myself. Thanks for your time I really do appreciate it. Hope your having a great xmass!

I really do not have a number in mind i just want to lose my belly fat and get muscle. The weight number is really not my concern i guess its how i am approaching my routine to get me muscular while loosing the weight. This is my first time doing a routine and i am not sure how to properly eat and exercise.

if you know your caloric intake for weight loss, then track what you eat. weight loss is all about a caloric deficit so if you're eating your calories for weight loss and exercising regularly (which you are), then you're good. use myfitnesspal or sparkpeople to track what you eat.

as for supplements, it's a personal thing. i'm not one to take things that boast anything about boosting your metabolism or "for weight loss" because your body does that on its own if you eat right and exercise. i do take things like fish oils and protein but that's about it.

the more you workout, eat right (and frequently), within your caloric targets and gain lean muscle mass, your body will continue to torch calories the fitter you get. it takes time too; i didn't notice significant weight loss until i was partway through the second month. then when i started p90x and started putting on muscle, i saw a huge difference in my body. i think the combination of cardio + weights is what worked for me. i used insanity to shed the fat and then p90x to gain lean muscle mass and torch even more cals.

You are doing too much. You would likely see better results focusing on simplifying your routine, getting enough sleep, and keeping your diet strict. There is no way you need to do insanity, followed by a 4 mile run, followed by weight lifting. By doing all 3, you are sure to be doing none at 100%.

Pick a program and stick to it. More equals less here.

Hi,

I totally agree with all, that you are doing a lot of exercises. It would be better if you maintain the right diet chart thus simplifying your diet plan will help you in boosting your energy. You can also consult some dieticians experts who will help you out in the maintenance that would not make you fat.
