How can I lose fat around my thighs after doing Insanity?
Hi Everyone! emoticon I am a 5'2" 19-year-old female and I'm currently in my second round of Insanity! I'm absolutely OBSESSED with Insanity and I've seen fantastic results! After losing weight on my own for a year with different gym workouts and strict diets, I got the DVDs as a present and, with it, I was able to finally lose my last 5 1/2 lbs to get to my goal weight and I dropped a dress / pants size. I was absolutely THRILLED! However, for as hard as I'm working and as carefully as I'm eating, I still have some fat around my thighs that I'd really like to get rid of but I'm not sure how. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any workouts I should try? Anything?

Hey I'm a 5'2 female as well!!! emoticon I was wondering about insanity, I been trying to do it but its so hard because i feel very heavy. could you give me some advice? as for thighs thats my worse area, but i think that area will just disappear you just have to keep doing cardio/insanity cause i heard you cant spot reduce.

I'm no expert, just personal experience.
There is no such thing as spot reduction. It just doesn't work that way-you lose fat in some places more than some others because of your genes and other factors which are very hard to control. In the end, when you lose fat, you lose it everywhere.
I've done Insanity myself and I can tell you that it shreds your body like no other workout. Are you sure that your are still overweight? Just be honest here, check your BMI ect. If yes, than go on and work out. You will lose that fat if you keep up with your lifestyle.

@Ipereira5 If you are a beginner, try something easier. It's advanced and it's plyo and the worst that can happen is getting injured/lose motivation. There are PLENTY of easy to intermediate workouts to choose from.

That is a tough area to loose! It will take you continuing to train AND keeping your diet clean.

Keep at it, and eat clean! It will change if you do!

analin is bang on when she says you can't spot reduce.
Best analogy I've heard is picture yourself sitting in a bath tub
filled with water. You can take a cup of water out, but the place you took
it out of just fills with water, but the over all level goes down.
Any of these programs are hard to do when you first try them, and even after
a while. Face it, if you could do them, you wouldn't need to.
Just keep with the program, any program be it P90X2 or Insanity,and
just keep showing up every day. You will make improvements.
You may still not be able to complete the workout by the end of the
program but you will get better and that's the point.
Just keep pushing yourself.
I did find the Insanity workouts to be a little like "full throttle"
all through, which is why i prefer the P90X2 program.
I hate getting screamed at! lol

I wasn't overweight when I started Insanity and I'm not now, I just wanted to try to lean out my legs a little bit more. I've seen absolutely AMAZING results with Insanity and I completed my first round of it this summer and I've stuck with it and managed to keep off the weight even while starting college. I don't know where I'd be without Insanity. I love the workouts, I love Shaun T, and I love the results, I just didn't know if there were some other workouts I could incorporate with Insanity to cross train a little bit. I've heard you can't spot reduce...but I guess I'm still hoping haha. emoticon

Ipereira5- Before I did Insanity, I was doing some plyometrics and weight lifting on my own and it definitely helped when I started. The workouts are definitely extremely challenging, but I have friends who just jumped right into them. It depends, but I agree with anaLinn!

Lean out the legs..hmmm-well, thinking about it, I do have some very bad looking fat in my hips that doesn't seem to go away. I've tried workouts claiming to spot the legs and not one of them worked. The muscle tone was better, sure, but nothing miraculous. I also tried massaging the area about 5min a day and it seems to make it look better but just that.
I'm no expert again, but I've read that plyo is the best workout for the core and legs. If it's one workout that's going to help you, it's the one you've been doing. Also, do not add anything else to Insanity. Hybrids are fine, doing two programs at the same time is not. One word: overtrain.

Anyway, these are just for what I've gathered reading online and trying stuff for two years on myself as a lab-rat, so please don't throw stuff at me if I'm wrong or anything. Actually, please do tell me. emoticon

you can't spot reduce. my problem area is my mid-section and that was the last to go (and hardest to lose). even after insanity, i was pleased with my weight loss overall but wanted to lose more around my waist and it wasn't until i did p90x that i saw the most significant results (building more lean muscle mass helped burn cals even at rest and with my clean diet, i saw great results).

as for your legs, perhaps you are not built to have those model-skinny legs? i know for a fact that there are some women (like myself) who cannot have those thin legs without losing a lot of muscle tone. some women have more muscle in their legs so when they workout, they get a bit bigger/more defined. i'm like that and i love how strong my legs look. just food for thought. whatever body shape you have, love it emoticon

@anaLin : Thanks! yeah i guess im kind of a beginner. I lost some weight this summer around 15 pounds post breakup. and i did alot of walking and running . but i tried turbojam, turbofire, brazilianbutt lift but its way too easy i dont like dance workouts i like insanity because its a challenge. i give up more if its too easy... maybe its not too easy but idunno i dont get the motivation from those dvds
