Gaining faster than I could ever lose in odd circumstances
Hi, I am a long time p90X grad with my husband. It was great at first but I am getting a bit discouraged as time goes on. I have realized that I have an odd body type that I work out about 2-3 times a day doing cardio-workouts and weight lifting just to keep my weight from going up. I don't even lose. I do different things everyday and I have expanded on the p90x workouts and done workouts from other websites and just extended everything.

Here is my real problem though. I enjoy the way I eat and that I have managed to change my eating habits so much, but I don't want to keep from indulging once in a great while. However, the odd thing is that I think I have a VERY slow metabolism to the point that I ate a couple cookies last night (I know, bad on me) and then a little hot cocoa. I woke up this morning and I could immediately tell the different in my leg size. It is like I balloon up with a quickness when I ingest ANY fatty foods.

I know how I am. That if I just completely avoid having any sweets, that it will make me want them more. I just don't know what to do. I mean, it has always been like this. I have always seen a difference in my body if I skip one day of working out for being sick, or if I eat anything fatty at all. I see the difference immediately in my thighs and stomach.

Someone please help. I need to know a professional opinion to why I can gain weight at the tastes of a cookie, but losing any weight is like pulling teeth and discourages me greatly. This rapid body change I have experienced since I was young, but I wore such lose clothes it didn't really matter. Now something as simple as a uniform or dress I got as a gift doesn't fit the same in a matter of one weekend. I need serious help. PLEASE!

I have a similar problem. Go talk to your doctor and see a thyroid specialist. Your levels may be off or your body may not be processing the hormone properly.
Also, I find that a very low-carb diet works best for my metabolism.. I know it is frustrating

Are you tracking down your nutrition and eating right?

If you can't lose weight while following a fat shredding diet there might another problem.

The first round i did of P90X, i didn't follow the nutrition plan and i got so-so results. When i finally sticked to the plan and tracked my nutrition it made a hell of a difference.

Write down every single thing you put in your mouth (and be honest about portion size) for a few days. See how many calories you are actually consuming.

A few additional variables to consider: are you at the low or high end of your healthy weight range? What is your stress level these days? Are you getting enough sleep? And, of course, check with your dr if all the other things check out, see your doctor.

Also, are you weighing yourself every day? I always weigh a pound or two more the morning after a salty meal or having extra sugar.

In general, eating stuff with a lot of processed sugar makes me feel gross ( especially around the middle!). Doesn't stop me from the occasional indulgence, but then it all goes away once I'm back to normal eating.
