Hello everyone. The main purpose for this group is for support, provide motivation and hold other's accountable in reaching their goals.

Please take a minute to say hello and let me know you were here! In this new group, (I am also a coach), you can be doing what ever workout you desire even if it is not listed.

Link to the new group: 50+ Working It-Feeling 30 Again

Have I been assigned to be your Coach? If not that is ok, either way, If you do need a coach, I would be more than happy to have you join me (send me a direct message regarding this). I take helping others seriously and will do all I can to guide you in reaching your GOALS!!

The name of the group, 50+ doesn't mean that if your under 50 you can't join especially if you want more support from other's as well.

I started doing Body Gospel and will be finishing up in a little over a week. I had back surgery in 2003, so I am easing my way back into the workout world and will also need support from other's as well.

Thanks everyone, and have a wonderful day.

Darlene

Hi Darlene.

Maria invited me to the group. I started Power 90 yesterday after completing Les Mills, Slim in 6 and Turbofire over the last year. My progress is slow and not so steady, but I have to keep going to stay well. I am far from fit, modify a great deal for two knee replacements and often feel like I burn half of what other people do, but with my family's arthritic history, I must keep active or I will end up completely disabled. Right now my arthritic joints and extra weight disable me enough and I cant let them prevent me from finding some level of fitness. I do well with support and accountability, but cant join challenges because most coaches require participants to switch over to their sites and my BF is my coach, my chef and my #1 supporter. (He weighs 150 lbs though and doesn't always realize my limitations are not in my mind) Even without the joint and muscle pain, my weight alone prevents me from doing the moves without considerable modification, but I am so much more active than I was one year ago. Thanks for starting this board. -Annette

Hi Annette, I'm so glad you joined.I think you are going to fit right in with us. We are all doing our own workout, but we know we have each other to share and support. We are all here for the same reason, to get healthy, fit and mobile again. Today I did my first workout in three years YAY!!! I'm so proud of myself. I started with the 3 fast miles by Leslie Sansone. I wanted to start easy do that it has been 3 years since I last worked out. I hung in there and did all 3 miles. Tomorrow I'm going to do it again. Together we can do it!!

Hi Annette, Thanks for joining the group. One thing about these programs, you know what your body can and can not do. My advice is don't overdue to the point of further injury to yourself. You know your pain levels and how much your body can do. Take it slow and do what ever modification's you can do in your workouts. You will get there soon enough. I had back surgery in 2003, this is why I started with Body Gospel. I had to modify with the floor core exercise's because my body did not want to move a heck of a lot during that exercise session. I know what my body can and can't do, as you have learned as well. Don't over due yourself, take each day at a time, stay motivated, but don't risk any injury. Take care and if you need some additional support, I am here for you. Thanks, Darlene

Oh, glad I checked the message boards tonight or I might not have found this group! I'm 53 and have been doing one or another Beach Body program (on and off) for several years now. I'm doing it steadily now and have stuck to my schedule for about 6 months. I'm more fit now than when I was in my 20's and didn't have to exercise to look good in a bathing suit.

Right now I'm doing a hybrid I made up myself that combines P90x, Turbo Fire & Brazil Butt lift. P90x is the heart of my program and I follow all the strength exercises on that program. But I just love the HIIT workouts in Turbo Fire and I didn't feel like I was getting the leg workout I wanted with either one of those. So I follow the P90x strength & Ab Ripper X schedule (3 days a week) then on 2 days a week I do one of the HIITS (15, 20, 25 or 30) and High & Tight or Bum Bum. Since Bum Bum can be a little cardio intense, I do one of the shorter HIITs when I do that one. I also do the Kenpo X one day (that's so much fun!) and then rest or X Stretch on Sunday.

There are definitely days when I have to force myself off the couch. It's so great to have a group of people my own age here! Wish I'd discovered Beach Body when I was younger...well, it probably didn't exist then...but it's takes much longer to get the wiggly skin off when your older.

The thing that really made the difference for me this time around was working through Chalene's PUSH book. Sometimes I think, damn, wish I would have done this with my life when I was younger...it would've been so different. Then I remember "50 is the new 30", LOL!

Cindie, WOW...good for you. Seems like you got the motivation and now you will have us in the group to support you and give you daily inspiration.

Welcome to the group. If there is anything I can help your with or other members can help you with, please do not hesitate to ask.

I am with you on that one, the older we get the flab is much harder to tighten up. I know from my own personal experience, I am praying that these workouts help me in the flabby arm area as well.

It's tough to get older. I use to workout when I was younger and up until I had back surgery in 2003. Oh boy, did the pounds come on and the wings on the arms (flab) is nothing that I smile about.

WE are here together and yes the same age group that is why I had decided to create this group. Us older folks need all the support we can get from each other.

You take care and keep up the great work. You have accomplished alot.

Regards,
Darlene

Welcome Cindi,

That sounds like a LOT of exercise. Im happy if I just get in a 30 min workout. In fact, when I pick 30 min programs, I am successful and can give it my all. The longer programs feel like a life sentence to me. I have to get to the point where I crave exercise. Ive never experienced the "high" that others talk about. I also don't experience the high calorie burn, and therefore have only limited results. That's my goal now, to push further and learn to love it. Hopefully the support here will get us through.-Annette

Hello Everyone,

Most of you have come a long way since joining Beachbody. We are here to help keep us motivated and to remember "Our Why" for wanting to become healthier.

I will hold you each "Accountable" for your daily workout's and progress. I would like to see each of us post in the group daily with the workout we are each on, the progress we are making, and any issue's any one of us might have. If you have to do more than one post to keep us updated that is fine since the posting in the group only allows us for a sentence at most.

I want to see and hear you all!!!!

As a coach and someone that want's to support you all in this group, we need to do this for each other. I believe "Accountability" and "Support" are key to success in this program.

So if you are not buddies with each other, please get to be buddies. I want you all to hold me Accountable as well. After all, if I slack in any way, I want someone there for me as well. Tell me...get going...keep pushing play...

Remember, we have Decided to make the Committment to Succeed!!!

Have a fabulous day everyone.

And one more thing: If you do know of some people that have just joined Beachbody and would like additional support, even if they are under 50, invite them to the group. I will hold each one of them accountable as well. This is what support is. I don't want to be a pain, so if I am posting too much in the group, tell me. I can take it..lol....I am easy going and love to hear what you all have to say.

Hi Cindie, I had sent you a request to be my buddie. This is another way I can keep track of everyone's progress. My focus is on all the member's of the group and I want to be able to, yes>>> hold each one accountable and keep the support live and well for each other. My message is below of what I wanted to send to your personally as one of your support person's.

Good Afternoon Cindie,

I just wanted to personally check in with you to see how you are doing?

Just wanted to mention another great tool that most of us are doing are blogs. It would be great if you could join us and do a daily blog with your workouts and progress. WE all could follow you on that as well, and hold you, here I go again..."Accountable, give you additional support and help keep you motivated.

I feel that if we are going to do this and support one another then we must hold each other accountable so that we all succeed with our goals and I welcome all of you to hold me accountable as well.

Have a great day and Keep Pushing Play.

Best Regards,

Coach Darlene

Hi Cindie, I'm so glad you found us too. I feel like Darlene is a great motivator, and together we can keep each other going. What I like about our group is that we do our own work out, and share our progress with each other.

Take care,

Darlene,
I am confused. Did you mean we should post to this group or another? I was posting here, but you said the board only allows for a sentence or two, so you must be talking about posting elsewhere. Are you making a facebook page to post to a group? Let me know.

In the meantime, here is my post for today:

I am on Day 4 of Power 90 and about to do Sculpt. I am struggling with the cardio/abs workout more than the sculpt. I think I built up my strength with LMP, but my stamina is poor. I had to take a few breaks from the knee ups/ arm ups. I was disappointed because it looked so easy. Also, the power yoga at the start of the workout is almost impossible, but Im trying not to use that word anymore. I cannot do the plank move at all and it takes me so long to get up and down off the floor. For Sculpt Im using 5 lbs weights. I am not quitting at 8 reps as I normally would. Ive been struggling and grunting to get to 12 reps each time. For that reason alone, I like that workout better. Clearly it is not just physical limitations with me, but psychological ones too. When I feel competent, I like it, when I don't, I quit. My goal is simply to get competent before I quit.

I have been eating well, especially since Im on vacation and able to prepare more plant based meals. I am fortunate to be living with my boyfriend, who is studying nutritional counseling and loves to cook. Even with all the advantages, I have found excuses to success. This time I had to give it my all.

Hi Annette,

I meant the 2 sentences on the group itself. On my very first message in here when I created the group, click on that link and it will bring you to the actual group we are all in. You can continue to post in here your workouts and progress and I will follow you, but if you want you can also post in the group itself. Unfortunately, it only lets you post like a sentence at at time so you might seen many posts like from me in a row to try to help motivate, support and hold accountable the ones that don't put message's here. So I have to watch here and in the group itself, which I don't mind at all because I am lovin everything about supporting others in the best way that I can.

In regards to your post here: I am with you on some of the I can't do part of the workout. When I had to do core revelation in my workout, it is all floor with the bands. Since my back surgery even though it has been 9 years, my body does not want to do these core exercises on the floor. I am so tight with my back still, I have to do the modification with the core exercise. I find that I will do 10 minutes of stretching before my workout and after, even though the instructor's do a warm up and cool down, I add to it.

I think we all feel that we are not confident at one time or another. I think it has to do with frustration of not being able to do something the correct way or the body not moving the way it should to do the exercise for example like my back being stiff. I am confident enough that inspite of my back, I will succeed at this and go head on with my obstacles but paying close attention to what my body is saying. If I can't do one thing, I will find another part of the workout that I can master and do my stretching every time.

Hope this helps somewhat for you, Annette.

Regards,
Darlene

Hi Everyone,

There is a possibility that the name of our group will change. Reason being, is there are many under the age of 50 that need additional support and motivator's like ourselves. I had talked with Maria and she feels the same way.

If they let us change the name it will be: Motivation+Support=Success ( All Ages Welcome)

I will inform you all if this does indeed take place.

Thanks for your understanding and support.

Hi Annette,
don't let it get you down, keep going. What I do is if I did 8 out of 12 today, the next time I will try my best to do at least 2 more 10 out of 12 and so on until I can conquer all the workout challenges, and make it through to the end without even thinking about it. I know you can do it.

Annette,

I have to agree with Maria, we try to do more a little each time with the routines if at first we have difficulty completing the number of reps that the trainer wants us to do. Just try to add 1 more each time you do the workout. You will get there, with what you have accomplished thus far, you are rockin lady. I am confident that you will get through this. Remember we are here for you, and are behind you every step of the way.

Thanks for the encouragement. I think I just assumed that since I had done Turbofire (modified) Les Mills Pump and Slim in 6, that Id be up for the challenge. I didn't realize how challenging Power 90 would be. I wanted a quick, short workout at which I would feel competent. I suppose if I found it easier, it would not be a workout, right? I think for some people it might be easier. My legs are HEAVY, so lifting them is exhausting!

Just a friendly reminder: we can only do what our bodies enable us to do. If there is too much pain, just do as much as you can. We don't want anyone hurt doing the workouts. Stay motivated and committed, we will all get through these and succeed.
