Need Advice on Program Choice
Happy Holidays. Need advice. Getting back on track after the holidays...again! I was working out with my son, who is in incredible shape, doing P90X. I was just starting to get into it but he was just accepted to a fire academy so I am losing my work out partner. I get so conflicted on what program to do. One week I want to do Turbo Fire the next P90X/Turbo Fire hybrid. I need to lost my 30 baby pounds from many many years ago. Any suggestions on what program to start with on my own? I can do Turbo Fire, P90X, Chalene Extreme or a hybrid of any of those. I feel like when I do Turbo Fire on the HIIT days I do not burn enough calories. Does anyone just do the 15 minutes or do you add something to the day for calorie burn? I know in reality if I just did one I would be better off than worrying about which one is the most effective. I welcome any advice and suggestions.

I would recommend doing Just the turbo fire to start you out. Of course you can add to the day with the hit. Do you have any of the bonus workouts?

I would receommend that you do your weight lifting on your HIIT days from TurboFire. I've done TF, P90X and Chalene Extreme, and TF's weight training is pretty mild compared to the other two programs. Chalene Extreme's weight training workouts are 30-40 minutes, compared to P90X's 60 minute sessions. So, long story short, my recommendation is to stick to TF's cardio program (if the 15 minute HIIT workouts aren't wearing you out, bump up to the 20 or 25 minute HIIT sessions), but substitute P90X or Chalene Extreme's weight lifting DVDs for TF's weight training sessions and/or do weight training on HIIT days.

Congratulations to you and your son for his acceptance into the fire academy!!

Since you are trying to lose weight, I would recommend doing a mixture of cardio & strength through a hybrid. It's really important as women to lift weights, and I am guessing you have the equipment since you and your son have been doing P90X. emoticon How long do you have each day to workout? Jenelle sent me and the other people in our accountability group her hybrid of TurboFire and ChaLEAN Extreme; IT'S GREAT. She felt the same way with some of the shorter HIITs too, and she added strength or core workouts to those days. Each day is about 60-70 minutes which is close to P90X. Would you like me to send you the hybrid? I also have one that combines Insanity, TurboFire, and ChaLEAN if you'd like an even bigger variety since you are having a hard time choosing.

Also, I know how hard it can be when you lose your accountability partner. When I graduated college, I lost my workout buddy and was not as motivated. I started a free Facebook group last year though and it's made a huge difference! Most of us are women 25-60 working out and dieting. We share meal plans, hybrids, workouts, tips, progress, before and after shots, and also do a monthly challenge and giveaway to whoever is crushing their goals. It's a lot of fun and has definitely helped me. Would you like me to add you to it? My facebook is facebook.com/kaleesorey. It's private as well so no one else will see or know you are in the group. emoticon

Can't wait to hear what workout you pick!
