Hi Guys and Girls,

I'm going to start the P90x on January 2nd and am hoping to build muscle and gain more than anything as im a skinny stick.

Will post pictures of myself soon and all the measurements before i start it.

Wondering if anyones got any tips or anything to help me keep motivation which i'm usually rubbish at. Also wondering if anyone else has done this to build rather to lose weight as a main goal

Hope someone can get back to me

Thanks
Dan!

Hey Dan,

Welcome to the program. I just started two days ago myself so we're definitely in this together!

Since I am so new I am sure others will have better recommendations than what I can provide after only a couple of days, but there are TONS of groups that you can join if you go through the message boards. In fact, I think I saw 2 for the New Year's folks just on the first page of this very forum. I would start there. Get involved with a group so that you can motivate each other. Knowing you are not in it alone is always a great feeling and knowing that the group will help to hold you accountable helps too.

Second, maybe get a workout buddy. I don't have one myself, but I've heard they are great motivators. Not only can you hold each other accountable for getting your workouts done, but you can push each other as well.

Hope this helps!

Hi Dan!

Congrats in starting P90X! You are in the right track taking before pictures & measurements. Did you do the fit test? Cleared out the junk food from your house? Read over the nutrition guide?

I would love to help you stay motivated! P90X was my first program. Having a supportive group is essential. I would love for you to join us at our support & motivation thread! Great group!

Being skinny you will need to eat a lot of calories if you want to gain a lot of muscle. Check out the nutrition guide and calculate how many you will need and in what ratios. For example mine was 200g protein, 130 g carbs and 40 g fat. I however was wanting to lose weight so urs will be very different. I lost 40lbs doing the program=-) If you want shoot me a friend request and I can get ur info and find out what ur numbers should be. Good luck and BRING IT!

this is more of a reply to all posts which are appreciated

Thanks for such a quick reply which i didnt expect emoticon
Will definately join that thread once i get grips on this message board as i am all new,
Because i live with my parents i will be having a dedicated cupboard and fridge / freezer for my own needs, I have read the guide but i am still trying to figure out what phase to start at, me presuming phase 2 as i hardly have the fat to shred, the last time i checked my body fat was about 8% but i did stop going to the gym and ate alot over christmas

As for the measurements / photos / fit test yet to wait for my friend to come over and help me as i feel really subconcious about asking a family member to help me do it.

Hey Dan!

Check out my story on my profile - if you're interested I'm going to be starting up a thread in the next couple days for folks who are going to be bringin' it in 2013.

I love hearing from guys like you because I'm the same build. I was skinny, and through P90X, Body Beast, Asylum etc I've managed to put on over 10 pounds of muscle. If you'd like any tips or advice, feel free to shoot me a buddy request!

Good luck dude. emoticon

I am doing Classic. So far I am liking it a lot. I did a lot of cardio (running) and basketball prior to starting the program, so the chest and back workout on Day 1 really kicked my butt since those aren't areas that I generally worked. Even 2 days later my chest still feels like it is on fire. It hasn't been a discouragement though. Plyometrics was a lot of fun. What a great sweat!

Thanks for the link. I'll come join the group!
