I am getting a jump on the New Year and starting Les Mills Combat on Monday, Dec.31st. Who is with me?! I have been waiting for months for this program to come out and I can't wait to get started. I am going to do my before pictures this weekend b/c I definitely want to get the t-shirt :-) I used to do martial arts so I think this is going to be a good time.

I would love some people to do this with me. We can support each other and share our thoughts about this new program! Who knows, maybe we can do so well we can be featured in an infomercial ;-)

Let's get a great start on the New Year and start getting rid of all those extra pounds from the holidays!!!

Well, Day 1 is down. I did Combat 30. That was a fast paced, great workout! My husband did it with me as well. I have been waiting for this day to start and now that it is here, I didn't want to do it at first. I am glad I did though.

I love all the punching and kicking. It is such a great way to get stress out.

Day 1 down, 59 to go!

HIIT Power kicked my tail today. It was a great workout. I didn't know what to expect and it was a great combo of cardio and weights. I definitely didn't fuel enought though, I got pretty whipped by the time I got to the burpees!

Today is a rest day and I am glad for it. My quads are tight and sore but it is good :-) Dan and Rac are really growing on me. I am starting to like their Aussie humor!

Well, Week 1 is done! I finished up today with Combat 30 and tomorrow is a day of rest. I have enjoyed it so far. I like the intensity!

I also just finished my first week with Warrior II Lower Body Lean Out. I can really feel all the kicking and twisting of my torso later on the day. As they say, pain is just weakness leaving the body, and if that's the case, I have a lot of weaknessesemoticon
I was hoping to find some other people to share the journey with, KPP!!!

Hi Jeff, great to have you hear. I was hoping this thread could become a place were people can talk about Combat and other fitness related things. We can also help each other "Keep with the Fight"!

Today starts Week 2 for me and Combat 30 and I am looking forward to doing it after work.

Do any of you have the gloves and if so, do you like them? I didn't get them intially and was wondering if I should have.

Great, we can support each other! So far Combat is a nice change and I am finding it fun! Trying to Hybrid with P90X but will see how that works, it maybe to much somedays! I dropped a couple pounds already in week one. Yesterday was Chest/Back and Combat 30..Ughemoticon
No gloves for me!YOU? How you doing so far?

Interesting doing the hybrid. Let me know how it goes! I had Combat 30 yesterday to. I am starting to get into a rythem with it. I have dropped some weight as well :-) I have really been focusing on my eating this time around doing a program. What you eat makes such a difference!

Today is HIIT Power for me. I really liked it last week. I didn't know what to expect. I did Turbo Fire and a HIIT workout in TF is somewhat different than Combat. I like the weights added with Combat.

What do you think of Dan and Rac?

I started week 2 today with with Combat 60 routine. I do have the gloves and i think they do help you hold a fighting form better. Besides adding a touch of resistance, they make me feel like a fighter. Probably all in my head, but I like them. I was initially apprehensive about the 60 minute workout, but the way the moves keep changing every 3 - 5 minutes, it keeps it fresh and I did the whole thing this morning with just a few extended breaks. Still working on form, but since I never had any real training, I think I am getting better. Still working on my eating, so we'll see how the weight progress goes. I started at 202.4 and would like to get down below 185. Keep with the fight!!!

Hi, Glad to hear you drop some weight as well. Nice to see in week one isn't it?
What you eat has an awful lot to do with how good these programs work! Diet is such a big part of it. You'll love the results even more.

So, so on Dan and Rac far as working out with them. Tony was very enjoyable in P90X, those two are a little getting use to..lol

Hi Jeff, Hey did you jump ahead and go to Combat 60..that's going for it! Good for you. If the gloves work for you...why not, right! Eating is always the hard part for most, you'd think it be the training but really it's not. Key is don't beat yourself up if you slip up on the diet. Trust me we all do! I sure do at times..lol.

HIIT Power is no joke! By the time I get to the end I can barely hold myself up doing the planks and mountain climbers. I also have a hard time with burpees. It is not that I can't do them, I can't really light-headed when I do it. Does that happen to anyone else? I just do squats instead (you can never do too many of those).

Today is Combat 45. KPP!

I did Combat 45 at 5:00am today! That's a really good workout. Your right about "power" being no joke! My back is just getting better after 3 months but I am not at 100% so burpees are still out for me and I make adjustments on some of the other moves and it still a great workout. Can't wait to go all outemoticon That's funny I do squats as well.
Hmm light headed..shortage of oxygen? Check your breathe while doing them maybe? Just a thought.

I did Tony's shoulders/arms tonight. Love that workout!

Oh how funny Dan does sound like a pirate! I'll be thinking of that now on the next DVD!!

I will check my breathing. My heartrate goes up so much when I do burpees. I think it is a combo of that and all the blood rushing to head :-)

I forget the name of the guy in the back with the big arms, he seems a little cocky ;-) The one thing I wished they did more was show more of the modifications. If you haven't done workouts with modifications before it can be hard for someone trying to figure it out. They don't show it enough. When I did TurboFire, the way the shot it, you could almost always see the person doing the modification.

Hi there, let me know if the light headed stuff gets better.

So far I think the workouts in Combat are good, maybe even really good. The people in the DVD are not as pleasant or enjoyable as P90X. They didn't do a great job setting the video up far as stretching, warm up or warm down. Your right about modifacation as well. I have become an expert in modification and work around what hurts and not to make it worse. If you don't know that this workout will give people problems.
With that being said I do like it and look forward to the workouts.

I think today may have to be rest day. Still doing PT for my back and what ever they did yesterday set me backwards some. I am already pushing it doing what I do so it will be rest or stretch at the most.

I have to agree about HIIT Power. It looks so easy but by the end, all those squats and lunges really get me. I also agree about the crew in Combat, they aren't as enjoyable as the people in P90X, but I didn't think the people in P90X2 were as enjoyable either. That being said, Dan and Rach seem to carry the workouts and the focus is almost always on them. Since I bought the ultimate package, and have started doing the 60 minute Combat routine, the guy with the big shoulders and one of the other girls lead during some of this routine. Are any of you struggling with form while trying to keep up with the dvd? I think I mix up my round-house and side kicks on some of the routines. Never having had any martial arts training makes this a work in progress. I am hoping by the end of 60 days, I'll have them down. Having said all this, next to P90X, I think I like this series the most of the others I have done, X2, X+, One-on-Ones and Insanity. I can see myself easily adding in a lot of these workouts into some sort of hybrid with P90X in the future.

PlyO today for me and looking forward to it. Did some lite stretching last night.

Jeff the Ultimate looks good. I bet the 60 minute is a great workout. I thought with doing a Hybrid that the Ultimate would be to much for me at this time. I do see these workouts as something we can use for a long time. I have twenty years of Karate behind me and still mix up the kicks and punches now and thenemoticon We"ll get it down before it's over and I don't think it's your lack of training, just a new program!

HIIT Power kicks my butt, especially the lower body parts. All those squats and lunges just crush me, and then the burpee routine at the end is punishing, but in a good way. emoticon
I did core last night, and I think I agree with you, not as intense as AbRipperX, but more intense than X2. I like the way this one works you all the way around your core, front and back. I also like not counting the number of reps, just going as hard as you can for as long as you can. I'll do the stretch this evening. Almost through week 2, and down 2lbs from my beginning weight. I am more focused on my eating now, so hopefully will see greater gains in the weeks to come. Stay with the fight!!
