Hi all.

I'm starting round one of my p90x career of the 7th jan. if there is anyone else starting then, I' d appreciate someone to train alongside (figuratively speaking, of course) - someone to share the pain with and to make sure that we don't give in day after day or quit when it gets too hard.

Cheers.

Paul.

I just started today, 1/1/13. I could barely do the pushups and I had to use cords for the pull-up sessions. My goal is to lose 50 pounds. Today was disheartening.

I have just started my second round of of p90x on 12/1/13. I know how hard it is at first but stick with it and I promise you will see amazing results!Look at my before and after and you will see!

I just kicked off P90X for the first time on the 4th, so I figure that's close enough. How did Day #1 go, man?

I will go check out that other thread as well.

Cheers,

Day one not over yet, the worst part of the day for me is yet to come. Finished the workout this morning and have followed the strict diet plan and all is well. Went a little easy on the workout being the first one did not want to get so soar that i could not workout tomorrow. But now I have to fight the night eating habits that I have. I am vary concerned about failure of the program when it come to the late night snacking.

I have also given up alcohol for the entire 90 days (minimum) and I was a pretty good social drinker if i do say so.

All in all the workout is the easiest part of the journey, its the mental side dealing with being hungry, boarded and bad habits that concerns me most.

Would love to hear whats on your mind and advise/tips for dealing with issues related to staying on track.

good luck everyone.

Paul,

I am starting tonight and it will be my third round, though my second was interrupted this fall. I'd love to have some dedicated people to train with. I am a coach, and can do support groups through here and Facebook as well as there are several people I train with.

Let's keep this crew together since we're all pretty close on the start date. Feels like I've been doing this for weeks, but its only been 5 days. That's 3 Ab Rippers plus the "yoga belly 7" which I DID NOT see coming.

Mark - you had sick results! Were you a Level I or Level II guy? Looking to get bigger the second time around?

Welcome, Precisehire. Keep checking in. That'll keep us all coming back. And to avoid the late night snack, eat your protein bar, or whey drink. I pretend I'm getting a chocolate or vanilla shake every night. And like you, I had a nasty dessert habit: I mean I love nothing more than to sit there with a bigass bowl of brownies and Reese's PB icecream and watch Biggest Loser. I know. I'm sick. emoticon

jpgatti - the key has to be just doing your best. If this week it's 1 freakin' push up, that's fine. Next week, the goal should be two. You can't stroll out your door and run a marathon any more than you can bang out tons of reps of body-weight exercises on Day 1. Stay the course. Keep the faith.

Kenpo was fun this morning. But I'll admit I got a little flustered trying to get some of the combinations down. I was throwing hooks instead of uppercuts, etc. After hitting the legs yesterday, and all the kicks today, my legs are hurtin' for certain.

Where my boys at?

Yeah, I actually started on the 7th. I did 10 minutes of yogaX today and just couldn't do it anymore. And I love yoga. I'd love to be part of this motivation thread, because at the moment I am feeling super guilty about not getting through the whole thing.

Hi all

Cool. So glad that it's going well for all. Bit of a change of plan - my wife decided she wanted to join in too. We started together on Saturday the 5th and we're starting our p90x career by doing the 'lean' version. Tomorrow is our rest day - we decided to start on a Saturday so we could have a Friday night off - kind of made sense...

Got to say, I love it. I feel fitter (even if I might not be) I was never a big fan of stretching, but i do it because i know why I'm doing it. (Yes, Yoga X - I'm talking to you!)
My wife is getting down with it too, but has neck problems and so has to modify some of the moves - but she's totally giving it 110%. Rock on.

My muscles ache, but in a way that says they've been used properly. I'm finding the dietary bit harder than the workouts, so I'm watching my carbs, not snacking and trying to be sensible.

We're really looking forward to getting the rest of it going, though scheduling the workouts around kids, school, bedtimes, meals etc is a bit of a headache...

In less than 90 days we'll be leaner, fitter and stronger than we have been for many years. Then we just might step up to 'Classic'.

Bring it on!

I also just started Monday, the 7th. Question - will the aches ever stop. I was able to get thru the Yoga tonight, but man it was not easy. I'm leaning towards going towards the Lean Program, I switched out the Tuesday for Cardio. Being mid-50's, I'm more in it to get a bit healthier and add a few yards to my drive once the golf season starts, not going to be Mr Beachbody at this age Let me know if this the invite to be involved here is still open. And Good luck, keep at it!

The invite is totally open. Come one and all.

I ache like nothing on earth, but the aches feel 'muscle shaped' and so I know it's through moving and using them, rather than a general 'I must be getting old because it hurts when I move around' type ache - if you know what I mean. The aches do get less as you get better/fitter/stronger/conditioned, but they don't go away - they just move to another part of the body!!

I'm mid 40's and want to be less heavy-feeling and tired. I'm never going to be ripped and have a boat load of abs glinting in the sunlight - I just want to be in better shape than I am now. I am determined that this is as unfit as i'm ever going to be for the rest of my life. It can only improve.

It's all about making the choice to develop a change that leads to a habit and then becomes 'the thing that i do'. And it is a very slow process indeed. One step (and new set of aches) at a time.

Good luck and keep to your goals!

So how is week #2 starting out. I loved the Kenpo program on Saturday, that one had me really working the whole time, but felt great when done. You are one smart dude, I liked your idea of moving things up and having Friday as your off day, I'm going to have to try that at some point. I'm looking at some after hour functions in the next few weeks, I'll have to adjust my schedule. Waking up starting earlier is not an option either, darn it. So I wanted to ask, how many pull ups are you able to do so far? I'm struggling with that, using the bands mostly.
Thanks. Good luck.

Good to hear that your still keeping up with Tony H., our glorious leader!

Overall, it's going great. We enjoy it - and dare I say - even look forward to the evenings workout. We're not following the dietary plan from the book - it's just too much information and combined with making meals for 4 kids who all have different tastes etc, it gets overwhelming. We're basically avoiding potatoes, rice, bread, snacks - carbs really. And trying to eat more protein. May be too early to tell if it's going to be dramatic in weight loss terms, but the point of us doing this is to be fitter, not ripped. If we work out 6 times a week and eat well, then surely that will be just fine.

We've already found that the Yoga X, being an hour and a half, is a little too long for a mid-week work out (kids, school, work meal times etc) so we've decided to swap the cardio X and the Yoga X around. Now the plan is to do the Yoga X on the Sunday. Kind of takes the pressure off.

As for pull ups - I can do one really shaky one with both feet off the ground and then I'm done. If I put one leg on a chair about 2 - 3 feet in front of me I then can do 12 to failure. I'm trying not to put too much weight through the leg on the chair, but the temptation is always to use that leg to take most of my weight. Concentration is the key I guess.

My wife uses the bands. She can do about 18 to failure, and they are bands we got from Walmart - as opposed to the 'official' bands you could get. I don't know if they are any different. Doesn't matter I suppose - it's all exercise.

Kenpo. Yeah, I love that too. I used to do freestyle karate many moons ago and the Kenpo is very similar to the lessons back then.

So, carry on with it and Keep Pressing Play, as they say!
(or as we say sometimes: Keep Pressing Pause)

Good luck!

Nice going with both you and your wife. Must be nice to have someone to work with. Funny how I do look forward to this now. And I agree with the food part, too difficult to use their specific plan, but good old common sense, like you said cutting back, eating right, etc. I did quit Diet Coke, I was a good 6 pack a day drinker, and being out all day on sales is hard, but I'm holding up so far. Same with the chin ups, I got a bar and it's not easy, 1-2 I'm spent, I use a foot stool but I'm trying. That Yoga is long and the toughest part, but keeping at it. You are correct too just how much better after just two weeks you can feel, both mental as well as physical. Congrats - keep at it!
