"When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it."
~ Paulo Coelho

Welcome to the Team Reddy thread for motivation, support, advice, and maybe making new friends along the way. emoticon

It's a new year, and instead of making tons of resolutions you'll never follow through on, and being down about the person you've been - I want you to take this as an opportunity to appreciate the person you are, and in doing so, decide what you really WANT out of life. That's where it all starts. If you truly WANT something, then all it takes is to figure out the best ways to get it. Do you want to live longer to be there for your kids, your friends, your family? You want to have a better quality of life? Then let's make it happen!

Your resolution is NOT "To Complete P90X" or "Eat Better". Your resolution is to do whatever it takes to improve on the version of you that is looking back at you in the mirror the day you read this post. SOUND GOOD!?

This is a thread is designed to help keep you going and support you every step of the way through your fitness journey. Whether you're looking to lose 10 pounds, 100, or even gain weight - I'll help you get answers to all your questions, and most importantly - KEEP YOU ACCOUNTABLE. I've had the pleasure of working with some of the most committed and hardworking people around over my first year as a Beachbody Coach, and their results have been STAGGERING! I couldn't be more proud.

So jump in and join the fun! REGARDLESS of program, we want you here and we want you posting and we want you to succeed in changing your life. If I can offer any help or advice along the way, it'd be my pleasure to do so. Additionally, if you'd like to hear about the opportunity to make some extra income with Beachbody, send me a message and we can chat!

But who the heck am I? Lemme give you the backstory.

I'm a professional singer and actor living in NYC, and I've always been scrawny. Two and a half years ago I decided it was time to change that, so I picked up a copy of P90X. Six months and two rounds of the X later, I was in great shape. My results were exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, I subsequently packed up and moved from Chicago to the Big Apple, and in the transition, my workouts got left in the dust.

Fast forward to October 2011. I was finishing a run of a rock musical in Manhattan, when I got a powerful respiratory infection. I had to power through and perform anyway, and I severely damaged my voice in the process. Essentially, because of that illness and my bad health habits - diet, lack of sleep, general not taking care of myself - I took myself out of commission for a whole five months. An actor who can't perform or even audition isn't doing anyone any good, so I realized I needed to make a big change.

Now, I've cut out dairy, I refuse to ingest high-fructose corn syrup (or any processed foods for that matter), and I've eliminated almost all alcohol. Today I live a much healthier lifestyle, and my voice is on the road to recovery. It's a long process for me, but it's worth it in the end. On January 1 I'm starting the brand new program LES MILLS COMBAT, and I like to do extra yoga on the side. In my line of work, I can't afford to be sick, so I need to turn my body into a well-oiled machine. Beachbody, P90X, and Shakeology, and my commitment to OWNING my life made it happen.

So enough talk - where are the pics!? Well here are my most recent results:

This is what these programs have done for me (P90X, Insanity: The Asylum, Body Beast + Shakeology), and now as a Coach I'm here to get you the SAME results. Beachbody's changed my life - let's change yours too.

Post your name, age, weight, program, supplements, start date and goals, and don't forget to BRING IT!

And starting in 2013, anyone who COMPLETES a program with Team Reddy will win a special wristband commemorating your accomplishment! So stop waiting, and get started TODAY!

Just to show you what I'm looking for, I'll start!

Name: Andrew
Age: 26 (you can leave this out if you want, but it helps me help you when it comes to calorie intake/burn!)
Height: 5'7"
Weight: 130
Program: Les Mills Combat (I've completed P90X three times, Insanity: The Asylum, Body Beast, and have experience with Power 90, RevAbs and TurboFire)
Supplements: Vegan Shakeology, P90X Recovery Drink, Pea Protein Powder, Vit D3, Fish Oil, B12
Start Date: January 1
Goals: Tighten up the core, drop some body fat, get back into the routine of eating well and working out. I'll be honest, the last couple months of this year were pretty crappy for me, and I went through a lot in my personal life, causing my workouts to slip. But now I'm ready to go, and ready to help the rest of you take 2013 by the horns!

Who's next!? (and it's ok if you're less detailed than me emoticon )

Ok boys and girls, this is serious! We're getting close to go time!

Are we set (or getting set) with food? Have you cleared the house of the junk? What's your Pre-Day 1 Check List?

Here's mine:

1. Grocery shopping - check

2. Schedule my workouts on my calendar - check (I can't stress this one enough. The key to success is PLANNING AHEAD, both with your workouts AND your diet!)

3. Take "Before" measurements.

4. Take your Fit Test.

5. Get excited to BRING IT!

Height: 5'9"
Weight: 225
Program: I don't have a set program at the moment. Right now I am doing a lot of lifting on my own, and different cardio programs. Right now doing the Couch 2 5K program. Supplements: Amino Acid, Whey Protein Powder
Start Date: Already doing my thing
Goals: Continue to keep gaining size in my upper body, as I also try and shrink my waste line and tighten my core. Continue to eat right, and hopefully continue to get off some of my medication.

Name: Ron
Age: 44
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 185
Program: P90X
Supplements: Protein Powder, Multivitaman
Start Date: 31 Dec
Goals: Lose about 20 lbs with this round (1st round two years ago - dropped my first 20). Overall, I want to get tighter and stronger to set a good base for muscle growth after P90X. I have re-start round two a few times but dropped out due to heavy pain in my neck every time I do the back and shoulder workout. I found out it's due to years of poor posture and issues with my thoracic vertebrae. This time, I will take that particular workout very careful and pay attention to my posture and form. Any help or advice in this area would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Jen! So what did you think of P90X when you finished the program that first time? How difficult was it for you to complete? I've been pretty active all my life, but never really been in to structured workout routines, and am a little worried of the best way to stay motivated through the full program. Any tips?

First off, welcome Jen and Ryan!

My two cents is this: the best motivation is group motivation. post here every day. some times you'll slip up, sometimes someone else will slip up, but if we stick together and keep each other going, we can't fail. emoticon

beyond that, though - I think it's extremely important for you to have a really strong "WHY". Why are you doing this? Why do you want this? And I'm not looking for "Because I want to get in shape" - I'm talking about what would getting in shape change for you? How would your life be better? Think big picture here.

For me, I'm not scared of dying, but I'm scared of getting old. I don't want to break down. I don't want to have to rely on others to do simple tasks. I want to be resilient, I want to be able to handle any physical challenge thrown my way, I want to never get sick again (it's ok to make impossible goals emoticon ). I'm an actor and a singer, so my body and my voice are my life and they're my career. A sick actor isn't a working actor, so it's my job to take care of myself the best I can!

What's everyone else's WHY? Figure it out. Write it down. Stick it on your wall or your fridge. Somewhere you'll see it every day. If you guys meet me and each other half way, and post regularly, we WILL NOT LET YOU FAIL.

Sound good? emoticon

"Hey Kyle! Welcome aboard!

Thanks for the welcome coach! I really liked P90X... after the first week of course (when I could move again) LOL. Overall was happy with the results, especially since the diet went off track about a month into the program (my Mom passed away and I used food as a coping mechanism). I gained 2.5 inches in my chest about an inch on each arm. Thighs went up about an inch and a half each. My stomach was also much flatter (I don't know what happened in my "after" shots, but you can't see it). Definitely felt much healthier and was able to handle stress better. Weight stayed about the same, but I know some of that was muscle.

"Question for everyone: How are you feeling right now about the nutrition side of things? " - I'm going to use MyFitnessPal to track everything.. I'm planning on starting out around 2,400 calories a day.

Excited to get going tomorrow!

Name: Wayne
Age: 33
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 190
Program: P90x
Supplements: Shakeology, P90X Recovery Drink
Start Date: January 1
Goals: Drop body fat, build muscle. I started P90X in November but stopped due to work travel and the flu, however I finally gave up soda and have been eating clean for quite a while... including Shakeology as part of my normal diet. Lost 10lbs since Thanksgiving just eating right and a partial attempt at starting p90x. Goal this time around is to get a regular schedule going, stick to the workouts, and cleanup a few things in my diet that aren't "clean". While weight loss isn't a goal, I could see losing ~20lbs in the process.

Goals: Get in better shape overall. I play and referee soccer at least 3-4 days a week, so my cardio is strong but I need to add strength and mass. I want definition in my abs and to add to my arms. As a soccer player, my lower body is much stronger and developed than my upper. I have started p90x before and only made it 3 weeks. I'm devoted to completing the program this time!
