Time to Change---Mind Makeover!!!

Today is the first day of the new year and I, as well as so many others, have specific plans on what I want from this year. Year after year passes by and follow through of goals slip away. I am determined to sincerely make this year different. Really. We all have to start somewhere and I have started somewhere time after time. There comes a point when a person gets tired of looking back at the past year and saying---I failed again. I want to say---finally, I did it; I knew I could; I should have done this sooner.

For me it is a mind thing. I beat myself up, I talk myself out of things, I never feel good enough. I am so, so tired of that. It will not change over night and I know it will take a very long time to change the mind I have been dealing with for so many years. But, I do know one thing---fitness is the only way for me to change. It truly changes the chemistry in the brain. It feels so good and I know that, yet I don't follow through. I have to this time in order to truly change. Once I see the changes my body is making it also leads to feeling good. I am doing this for me and me only!! I know what I need to make over my mind...fitness.

This is my accountability board. Somewhere to go to write my thoughts and see my progress and see when I start to give in to my mind. Whomever would like to post is more then welcome. It is all about encouraging one another not to give up whatever your goals are for 2013. We can make this the year we accomplish what we have not in the past. Let's go 2013!!! THE YEAR FOR CHANGE AND SO MUCH MORE!!

So Day 1 of my workout program. LesMills Combat. 30 minutes wasn't very much, compared to what I'm used to, but it was enough to make me feel good. Tomorrow will be more intense!! Look forward to seeing the results physical and mental!!

Change doesn't come all at once...
Make a set and serious change... and follow it up with another. It has taken me years to make the changes I am happy to have made. My life is so different than it was five, or even two, years ago. I started out promising myself I would walk 250 miles in a year... that seemed manageable. I did that, then started jogging. Then I started boy pushups and now I do Insanity. My body is strong and healthy.
I still have weight to lose and I am working on getting my diet where I want it as well.
It's a life process! Don't ever beat yourself up... just move forward.
Work on nixing those "negative tapes." Any time your mind says something mean or negative, counter it with a helpful and positive message!!!!

Great job, Elizgomez!!! I'm not good with processes, I want change now...lol. But I am realistic and know it takes time. January is my first step.

Day 2 of Combat and I have a feeling my legs are going to feel it tomorrow. Looking forward to it emoticon

Congrats!! What great motivation!! This is a great place for support! So many great members on here to keep you pushing play. You ought to see if your coach also has some sort of accountability group. That is also another great source for support, motivation, and inspiration =) Have you heard of Chalene Johnson's PUSH 30 day challenge? I plan on starting PUMP on the 7th =)

Day 2 in the bag!!! Awesome!!! Make sure you take your pics and do measurements and all (I am sure I already said this - sometimes I sound like a broken record!). In a month, you will be so happy you have more than one way to see your results!!!
Make sure you are trying (just trying) to be realistic. I totally understand about doing something all the way or not at all... but health is most important, and the big picture of health is that you change over time.

I, of course, didn't last long. Just a couple days in to 21013 and my mind took over. I'm telling you, if I didn't have this brain I could accomplish so much in life!!!! So irritating, but I will work with what I. Pick up the pieces and keep going. If I can make it through this month with more good days then bad I will be happy!! Time for a well needed workout!! Combat 60, here I come!

Thanks for asking Sabrina =) Day 1 is done. It was different but I think I will really like it. My hope is that it will be "intense" enough. I mean I'm not asking for punishment, but when I do a workout, i want it to produce.

So what happened you think with your re-focusing? It's only 1/7, so it's still early early in the year =) You can get your focus back. Does your coach have a private accountability group?? That might help because it's the same people that you get to be friends with and keeping a check on you. It's pretty cool. How did Combat 60 go?

Progress, not perfection!!! Keep on chugging along and do the best you can EACH DAY. Don't look at the long term... just do what you can at the moment that will make you better!!

I have a long week ahead - back to school and sports schedules, hubby's deployed for the week... I set up a schedule for workouts... need to think up something easy to make for dinner tonight. Lately for me the biggest challenge is fitting it all in!

Kim: Combat isn't quite as intense as I am used to (compared to p90x and insanity), but I think I will still like it. A nice break. I deal with depression and anxiety, so I have some rough days, that's why I work out. It is my relief, even though it is hard some days to push play. The goal is never gone, it's just each individual day that I have to work through to get to the goal. Takes time....which is hard for me...lol.

beth: Fitting it all in is the hard part when you have a family. Even though it is hard, it is so worth it emoticon I hope your week is going well. Did you come up with some good quick dinners?


I will be derailed again from my goals and workouts...I'm sick emoticon I am not a fan of colds. But once I feel better I will pick up where I started. Looking forward to keeping on.

Thanks for sharing Sabrina. I don't suffer from depression, so I can't really know that re-focusing, but maybe on some level I can empathize (is that the right word?)...like with HORRIBLE PMS. I know the best thing is to workout, but there is just no way it feels like I can move!! I completely have to MAKE myself on those days and sometimes it just doesn't happen even though I know it will help. I don't no if that's a similar feeling other than the fact that we both have to really make ourselves on those days?? I can appreciate your one day at a time approach =) That's really how we all should take it...one day at a time.

PUMP isn't as hard (yet) as ChaLean Extreme but like you, I think I'm going to like it. I did the 2nd day. It's the same as the first day. They are just getting us used to the moves in this routine, so we will know them well by the time we get into the more complex PUMP routines =) I'm excited to see what they are like =)

Let me know what you think about Pump after you really get into it. Why did you decide on Pump?

Finally feeling better...thank goodness. Now lets see if I can get somewhere with working out!

Glad you're feeling better =) I will keep you up to date on what I think about PUMP. Why did I pick it? I prefer strength over cardio but I know I need cardio, so this is giving me some of both =)
