Questions about weigh loss and p90x
Hi, i am Abel 27 years old and i started p90x 2 weeks ago, i just finished my day 13 workout classic emoticon
I started at 174 and i am 5'11 and right now i am at 166, my goal is 155 but if i go lower i don't mind.
Question is, how am i losing weigh? I want to know how this works, i follow the nutrition plan at 90% because i don't always have all the ingredients needed for the meal but i replace them. I eat around 1800 calories never eat more than 1900.
Also, my wife told me that i look skinnier but i can't tell yet. When will i see noticeable results? And also about abs, how long will it take to start seeing them? I had abs about 12 years ago but even when i was 135lbs i had no abs but never worked out.
And my last question, do you guys think my love handles will go away when i am done? I hate being skinny with them.

Hey Abel

Nice weight loss so far, thats some pretty quick results in two weeks!

How weight loss works is basically your body burning more calories than you consume. Theres a formula in the beginning of the guide that is:
Body weight x 10= Resting Metabolic Rate(RMR)
RMR x 20%= Daily Active Burn(DAB )
RMR+DAB+600(exercise burn)= Maintenance

so when you put your weight of 166 in you get 2592. That is the amount of calories you would need to maintain your current weight while doing P90X. but since you are consuming typically 1800 calories, you are at a ~750 calorie deficit which is about 1.5 pounds a week since one pound of fat is 3,500 calories. (in your case, your doing way better than the math lol) you'll start seeing results after about 3 weeks to a month, you'll be suprised by 60 days how far you've come and by 90, forget about it! you wont even recognize yourself! your love handles will be a thing of the past and youll have abs of steel! Typically you'll see abs around day 30 that will progressively get more toned on through the rest of the program, as for love handles, they can go away anywhere from day 40+

I would suggest you bump up to the 2,400 calorie plan when around your goal of 155 snd try to add in a few more calories. The best way to do that is to track your nutrition on My Fitness Pal, add me as a friend =D (screen name kruda)

Another thing to consider is going to Energy Booster in phase 2 (month 2) to have more energy and to help build muscle (if that is a goal of yours)

P90X is a good foundation program and if done correctly can get you pretty good results. Stay consistent with your nutrition and make sure you are in calorie deficit each day. Your 1800 intake a day seems pretty good I'm unsure of your height so I can't say exactly but aim for about 0.8g-1g of protein per lb of bodyweight to ensure adequate protein intake for muscle growth.

I started seeing visual results around week 8 with P90X but could feel better within the first few weeks. Abs show best at around 8-12 % BF. So once you get down to a low enough % you should be able to see your abs.

Thanks for your help, i am still surprised, every 3 days i get on the scale i keep thinking is broken because is unbelieveble the amount of weigh i lost in day 17, i now weigh 175 with my uniform on. (Military boots and uniform)
And i used to be 173 on day 1 with no clothes.
I also noticed thay my appetite is less and sometimes i eat less than 1800 calories but i am not sure if that is ok because i am at the beginning of week 3.

Its all part of the process, to be sure your making your goal i would try to get a reading on your body fat%. The first month is Fat shredder and every single person has different experiences with it, for instance when i first started working out when i weighed 270 i lost so much weight in the first month i didnt know what to think. As long as your feeling okay energy wise and your not experiencing unusual pains other than the workout burn you should be perfectly fine going into phase 2. As you get closer to your goal weight and BF wise, increase your calories to maintain which at 155 it would be 2460 cals a day

If you do continue to drop weight very rapidly in phase 2 i would check in with your doctor to make sure everything is going okay because ultimately, he/she will know alot more about your condition than i ever will.
