Pull-ups & Elbow PAIN? HELP!
Pull-ups & Elbow PAIN? HELP!
pull ups elbow pain
1/2/13 4:54 AM
Hello all,

The issue that I am having is, I am having pain in my elbows. The pain is a real issue when I do pull-ups. I have completed 3 rounds of P90X with little issues. I am now in week 6 of P90X2, and I can only do 4-5 pull-ups (of each type during the workout) before the pain makes me stop. I can complete the workout, but the pain stays. The pain in on both sides of the left elbow and is now lasting throughout the day. I really need to know what to do! My fitness has come a long way, and I need to keep going! HELP.

Elbow pain is usually related to an overuse injury. That's why they call is tennis elbow in tennis. It's from the same repetitive moments that result in stress and cause injury. Look back and see if you have done anything new in the last 30 days that might effect this. It's usually a repetitive movement like using your mouse or typing. If you can find the root cause, then you can eliminate it. Usually the only cure for an overuse injury is ice and rest.

Hope this helps!

Hi,
I was having the same problem, but I'm only doing P90X (not X2). I had completed P90X three times prior, but for some reason I was having pain during this round. Then I realized that I have been doing something differently in my daily life...it's going to sound stupid, so brace yourself...everyday, when sitting in the driver's seat of my car, I was reaching into my backseat to pick up my very heavy bag and put it in the passenger seat (after dropping my husband off at work). Putting that strain on my arm, in that weird position, repeatedly was giving me elbow problems. I no longer do that and the elbow pain is just about gone (and I'm still doing P90X - so it's not like it's had complete rest). Thinking outside of your workout, break down each step of your day and try to figure out what you may be doing (daily) that is causing pain.

Good luck!!! And wishes for a speedy recovery!!!

Sorry to hear about this. I agree with everyone above that it's related to overuse and that the solution is rest and ice/heat. Better to take time off now than to make it much worse and need to take a long haitus.

Thanks! Great posts. I never would have thought along that line. I will go through my day and see where I may be doing something different. Thanks for the help!
