After Insanity is Chalean X enough??

Hi all,

I have done a couple of rounds of Insanity and one full round of P90X for about the last year. I have just started Chalean Extreme--but I am not feeling like it will be enough, so I might just switch and do the P90X/Insanity Hybrid instead.

I would love to hear about your results/experience doing Chalean Extreme--particularly after doing a program like Insanity. I am in fairly good shape, however I still want to lose some weight--about 10-15 pounds and firm up.

Thanks in advance for any input!

Hello again,

Since no one has replied with their own experience with Chalean Extreme, I thought I would add my own update. I have been doing the Chalean Extreme workout for about a week and a half, and so far it is going well. I was concerned about it not being "enough" but I must admit I am working my muscles to fatigue and I have been sore (in a good way) from it.

The way the plan starts out is exercise (5) days a week. So yesterday I did add Insanity Pure Cardio into one of my "rest days". I may continue doing that--I'll see how I feel, and I also walk (2) miles a day in general.

Again, just adding an update to my experience with the new program. I definitely feel like my body is getting tighter, which is nice.

So far, so good! emoticon

I just finished one round of Insanity. I started Chalean Extreme this past Monday. Today will be my first cardio workout. Insanity really helped me lean out, and I am concerned. I don't want to go backwards. I'm interested to see how it works out for you. I was considering adding an extra cardio day or doing a Chalean Extreme/Insanity hybrid. ~ashley

I would say that you have nothing to worry about because they are really not comparable programs. If something seems too easy with Chalean Extreme, you really just have to add more resistence to increase the difficulty. Chalean is pretty tough in it's own right!

It is still pretty early for me, but I do feel like the program is working. Meaning somehow (even though this is only week two for me) I feel like it will lean me out. I am glad that I did Insanity first, because I lost some pounds starting with it. But I'm hoping that Chalean Extreme will now build lean muscle.

The thing with me is that I am of the mentality where I need to feel like I am killing myself during a workout (like Insanity) and Chalean Extreme is a different kind of program. So in that way, I just have to trust the program and know that the "vibe" of it and frankly "intensity" is quite different from the Insanity workouts.

Time will tell, but I personally don't feel like I'm going backwards, and I am liking the change in workout for the time being. As I mentioned, I did add Pure Cardio from Insanity this week on one of my "rest days" and I have been doing Cardio Abs from Insanity three days a week.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Lulabelle,

I've done CEX after doing P90x, Insanity and Asylum in 2011. CEX is what helped me to get really toned. I did it w/an Asylum Hybrid after completing one round. I just think w/CEX you have to lift heavier. I loved the fact that Chalene worked multiple body parts w/CEX and I liked that it was shorter. I did add extra cardio. Once you've done Insanity you expect that level of cardio all the time. So I wld just substitute Insanity or Asylum as my cardio. But I really liked CEX but I just had to heavy up the weights.

Thanks. I'm already in really good shape, and I don't have any extra weight to lose. Insanity helped me to lower my body fat percentage, but I was ready to get back into working with weights. That's why I chose CLX. I'm definitely going to do it all the way through one time the way that it is designed. I was worried after the first day because, even though my shoulders were all shaking, it didn't fell like much of a workout. The second workout and especially the burn interval today were more of a challenge and made me feel more like I had a good workout. I'm am definitely considering doing a hybrid with Insanity after I finish one round on CLX. I got such good results with Insanity that I can't see giving it up completely.

Hi Angelea,

Thanks for giving me your input/experience. I just finished the cardio workout today (Burn Intervals) and that is a great workout. I think this program is going to work out well for me. As you mentioned, once you've done Insanity you expect that level of cardio all the time. However, I don't think that is realistic and I feel like my body is actually responding to this change even though it is a different kind of intensity and I am only two weeks in.

Thanks again for your input--I intend to keep going!

If you are already in good shape I imagine Chalean Extreme is going to work out well for you as well. I was also worried after the workout the first day, but then as my first week went on, I was actually sore! I mentioned to my husband, that I may have underestimated the intensity of the program and I think I did. emoticon

I won't give up Insanity completely either--I will continue to add in a session while doing Chalean Extreme. And after this I will probably do another round of Insanity right before bikini season!

Good luck with the program!

Hi there,
I just saw your post and wanted to respond back with my experience. I started with Insanity and completed the entire program. I did my research on what I could do next to help me build lean muscle. Chalean Extreme was the answer. I have one day left on this program and I have to say I got the results I was looking for. I have never in my life had muscle tone like this ever!!! The Lean circuit is when I notice lots of changes. The only recommendation I would give is on one of your two days off do extra cardio or do the Burn It Off or FatBlaster workout if you got it with your pack. I could not get enough of this program.
Good luck to you.

I would love to hear what you thought when you complete itemoticon

Hi Kristin,

Thanks for your input! I have started on my third week of Chalean Extreme and I am really liking it and getting into a new groove! For me it has really just been getting used to a slower pace and a different program, but again I am really liking it. I have added a day of cardio on one of the two "rest" days. Today is supposed to be a "rest" day, but I just did Insanity Pure Cardio. Looking forward to continuing, and hoping to improve my muscle tone as well, which remarkably has already started to happen doing Chalean! Yay!!

Hi again,

As I previously mentioned, I am currently in week three of the Chalean Extreme workout. I am really loving it! It just took my mind a minute to make the shift from Insanity to this program. I was skeptical, thinking that it would not be challenging--and it has been. And the interesting thing is how quickly my body seems to be making changes with this program. Even though it is still early, my body is DEFINITELY tightening up. And as Chalean suggests in the workouts, I am lifting as heavy as I can stand--sometimes I can only squeeze out (10) reps! Just wanted to give another update along the way!!

Thanks so much for this reply! I am on week 2 of CLX after several rounds of TF. I was just searching the boards to see when people starting noticing changes with this program. I am adding 20-30 minutes of additional Cardio on the Circuit days and I do Fire 45 on one of the Rest Day and actually rest on the other. I am looking for some serious toning and cannot wait to see what this program will do in the next 90 days. I might repeat and hope that by summer I am ripped!

Hi Michellesylvia,

Well I can hardly believe it, by I have finished the first 4 weeks of Chalean Extreme and will now start the "Push" phase tomorrow. As I mentioned in previous posts, I am really liking the program and am quite happy with the amount of "toning" that seems to be happening for me. I can really tell in my arms and even on my legs, which is my hardest body part to tone. By the way, I have also noticed that the fat on my back/waist area is diminishing! That has been the most exciting for me because that has been a new body development (I think due to aging!) and I felt like I was stuck with small rolls on my back/waist area. However, even those are going away!

I do add additional cardio to one of the two "rest" days. For instance today was a rest day, but I did Insanity Pure Cardio. I also walk my dogs everyday--but it is at a leisurely pace so it is not really heavy cardio.

FYI, I have not been following the Chalean meal plan, but I am a fairly healthy eater to begin with most days. I would imagine though that as with all of the programs, I would probably have even better results if I followed the meal plans.

Anyway, I plan to keep going and hope to continue progressing and toning!

Wishing you well and much success on the program!

Hi all,

Just another update from me! I am on my 2nd week of the "Push" phase and it is going well. As others have said they gained weight during this period, I'm not going to even put myself through the drama of weighing myself!! I love this program though. Additionally, I have been doing Chalean's "Extreme Abs" (totally butt kicker) three days a week, and continue to do Insanity Pure Cardio on one of my two rest days. So far, so good. Absolutely lovin' it!

Take care.

Hi again,

Just another quick update/review for those who haven't done the Chalean Extreme program--the Extreme Abs is really great. In my opinion, I think it's even harder than Ab Ripper X (p90X) and Cardio Abs (Insanity). I absolutely love it and hate it at the same time!

Ok, that's all!!

Another update--I am starting the Lean Circuit today...wow time has flown by! So far so good. Have firmed up a lot, had to actually buy some heavier weights too. Off to do my first Lean Circuit workout!

Im glad to hear you are finding CLX challenging! Ive done P90X twice, Insanity three times, TF and now LMC. I just purchased CLX and was worried I wouldnt find it challenging. Ive already decided to add extra cardio after the weight days and either TF or LMC for the cardio.

Hi!

Yeah, I really love the program. I will just say it is very different (at least to me) than P90X and Insanity (both of which I have done). When I first started it, after doing those programs it didn't have the same intensity and I felt like it wouldn't really change my body or challenge me. But I was totally wrong! I can honestly say I really look forward to the Chalean Extreme workouts everyday. Wishing you good luck with the program too!

Hi all,

Just one last update. I finished the standard Chalean Extreme program (which is 3 months). But for some reason when you put the program into Beachbody, it adds one more month, which is what I finished today. This additional month is cool because they mix up the different circuits throughout the month, which I really enjoyed.

I am now going to do a hybrid of Chalean Extreme and Insanity. They don't have that option on Beachbody that I could find, but I found schedule that someone made online that looks quite challenging.

Overall I am SUPER pleased with this program, and am so glad I stuck with it. Chalean is really positive, and I never got bored with it. It added nice muscle to my body and I would recommend it!
