HI ALL!

I am starting a group for people doing Power90 and would love to have more folks join us!

A little about myself. I did Power90 a year ago and lost 40lbs in the process! I then progressed to P90X and saw great results there and was just starting P90X2. Because of all the weight I lost and increased stamina, I was able to complete my very first marathon (Walt Disney World Marathon) this past January! I also was very active in participating in triathlons.

Then last February, less than 30 days after finishing the marathon, I stepped in a mole tunnel in my backyard and tore the meniscus in my right knee. I've had surgery and am now able to start working out again. My thought is that since its been a while I need to start from the beginning and work my way through Power 90 and then progress to P90X.

This program is the start of my year long goal. In January 2014, I will turn 40 and it's my goal to run the Goofy challenge at Walt Disney World! In case you're not aware, the Goofy Challenge is where you run the Half-Marathon on Saturday and then turn around and run the Full Marathon on Sunday. That is my goal and I WILL achieve it with these programs! If you're looking to to don some races, let's do this together!

I am living proof that these programs work and I wholly believe they have changed my life and my perspective of physical fitness.

It doesn't matter if this is your first time through Power 90 or you're a pro, I would love to have the company! Right now, I'm doing the Power90 Fat Burning Express this week to condition for the full program.

SO post here and send me a buddy request and let's End the Trend together!

ENGAGE!

Hey Blake,

I'm on board starting the 7th as well! I've had a few failed starts with Power 90 in the past none lasting more then a few weeks. Sticking to it has always been my problem and I'm hoping this will be another tool to help me along the way.

The plan for this year is to run through at least two rounds of Power 90 before moving up to it's big brother p90X. I have a long long way to go but it has to begin somewhere.

I'm in.

I've started P90 a few times before and actually made it to day 89 at one point before injuring my shoulder (from being over-zealous) and then never finished it. I know it works, and I lost of ton of weight and inches while doing it. With a promotion at work in 2012 causing higher stress, a general laziness set in and I returned to my old horrible eating habits and no exercise ("Not enough time" excuse was rampant). I'm now back at my heaviest weight ever (morbidly obese) and actually started taking blood pressure medicine after a visit to the local ER for some weird arm pain. I treat this as a warning sign and having just celebrated my 40th last September, it's time to get back to business and get my health straightened out. I actually purchased P90X a few years ago, but have never felt in shape enough to attempt it. I figure I'll complete a good round of P90 and we'll see how things look.

Measurements/pics are done, calendars are created and cleared out the workout area in the basement. I've got over 100lbs to lose to get to a healthy weight which won't happen overnight but you have to start somewhere. Day 1 starts tomorrow morning.

I guess my Forum skills are a bit rusty...I had meant to reply to this thread but ended up posting a new one. Anyway, here we go!

New here and new to Power 90. I started this morning and am currently sitting at my desk at work wondering what I got myself into ;)

I used to run half marathons about 8 years ago, but had three surgeries over the course of six months and completely stopped working out. I gained 150lbs!! My doctor just gave the go-ahead to start working out (figured I should get a physical since I'm so out of shape) and here I am.

Good luck everyone.

Hey everyone!

Exst, Adam, and Sarah, WELCOME! You've all made a great choice to change your lives.

Exst - That's a great way to think of the program. Take it one program at a time, one week at a time. Break it into smaller chunks and you will be able to finish.

Adam - Great preparing! Losing 100 lbs is certainly a great goal and its certainly doable if you stick with the program.

Sarah - I used this program to run my first HM so I know from personal experience that it works!

I will say to everyone that your nutrition will play a big part of this program. Maybe even more important than the actual exercise! I'm going to recommend a free website and smartphone app you can use to hep out with that. It's called myfitnesspal. Go take a look and you're gonna really like it. You can put in virtually any food you eat and it will track calories and protein/carb/fat ratios.

For us just starting out and wanting to burn some fat, we should be targeting a ratio of 50/30/20 % protein/carb/fat. If you're team beach body members you can use the calculator to determine what your target calorie intake is.

Make sure you come back everyday to tell how your workouts went and how your eating is. Studies continue to show that people who show accountability to others tendnto hang with programs longer.

Personally I have to push back the start of my program one week to the 14th. I started a new job today and I need this week to get orientation in, but them I'm all in!

OK FOLKS LETS DO THIS!

KEEP PUSHING PLAY!!

Blake

OK Day 1 is in the books and all good, though I'm a little sore as expected. I'm taking it slow on the weights this time as I know I have a history with overdoing it. Ate my 5 mini-meals today, good balance of protein/carb, though I have to work on the water intake. I still have some Shakeology hanging around from my last attempt, and I'll be breaking that out for breakfast and snacks on the weekend...I love that stuff (though I definately prefer the Chocolate over the Strawberry I have).

I am a Team Beachbody member (totally worth it for the info alone!) and the meal planner has been proven very useful in the past. With a wife (who is very supportive) and two young boys at home (who want nothing to eat but Froot Loops and chocolate, apparently), mealtimes can be challenging.

89 days to go!

I just saw your post today.

I started Power 90 around two years ago. I got through it, lost weight and then went on to Power 90:Master Series. Finished that and started P90X. I got through the second round of that and I let my emotions take over when life threw me several curveballs.

Needless, to say I gained back 65 of the 94 lbs I lost. I now have regained the desire to lose weight. I started Power 90 yesterday, but will probably be a week behind you because I'm doing a week of the Fat Burning Express to get my body going again. I'm also going to do X Stretch on my rest day.

TTFN,
Ryan

Day two workout complete and still riding high. Stiff and sore this morning but was still looking forward to the workout. It's a bit hard to come to terms with what I've let myself become.. I mean when a few jumping jacks feel like running 5 miles.. but at least I'm moving in the right direction now.

Good luck everyone and keeping pushing through it!

Day 2 done. I never feel more uncoordinated then when doing Power Yoga. I don't believe I've ever been able to "swing your leg through" in the Runner's Stretch portion; I always resort to swinging my leg around. Also, I'm altering the calf/shin-centric exercises to be less stressful (Cross-Step instead of Cross Hop). The ab workout was challenging, as expected. I'm sore, but highly motivated...it can only get easier. =)

Pushing through the soreness and Day 3 workout is complete. Taking it slow and doing several of the modifications until my body gets used to working out again. Really looking forward to being able to all out and get the most out of each workout session.

Day 3 done for me. Tolerably sore as I'm trying to maintain the slow ramp-up. Doing knee push-ups for now to prevent overworking pectoral/shoulder area. Eating is still right on track; evenings are tough as the desire to constantly snack has to kept in check. I've eliminated caffeine from my diet as it tends to impede weight-loss long term (diuretic short-term). As part of the progress monitoring, I've also decided to check the scale/measurements every 10 days instead of every day to help average out the daily fluctuations.

Go Team!

Day 5 is done! Woke up this morning much less sore and was able to start pushing myself a little harder in the workouts. Still doing a lot of the "Modified" versions of the exercises but I'm also starting to feel some of the results. Hope the rest of you are doing well!

Day 4/5 are done. I also ramped things up a bit this morning with the Sculpt 1/2 and moved to full pushups instead of knee-based and increased my weights to a "normal" level, rather than the "light" ones I had used on the first two days.

Feeling good, eating well...week 1 almost in the books!

Day 6 done on Saturday and I did the X Stretch today from P90X (or as many parts as I could) as insurance against any stupid injuries. Week 1 complete!

As a another source of motivation, I've signed up for my company's team on a local 10k "fun run" (which I've never done...not even a runner) in the end of April. By then, Power 90 should be done and I'll be in shape for it.

Looking forward to the end of week 2 and the first re-measurements. I've determined I am highly motivated by tracking "the numbers" and charting it all out. I already feel a little more energetic!

Go team!

First week down!!!

Finished my first week and i'm starving for more!! Not going to lie, my day off felt like i was cheating. Also I found myself with my pants down bc i hadn't planned to fill in the calorie gap from not having to take the Whey. Another obstical was mandatory training the last 2 days from 8am to 1ish. This completly threw me for a loop, instead of trying to figure out what food to eat when i straight up didn't eat untill class was over both days. I just started my whole program from 2pm instead of 7am. I know that eating in the morning is a key to getting my motablisum going but honestly i wouldn't have been able to eat every 2 to 3 hours after that so i just went with it. now before i get judge, my job has the ability to hold me over night till 6am so there will be days that i do a normal day based off later hours. just something i have to deal with and do alot more reading about.

First week was great. Honestly i got threw the workouts. I now pause to make sure i get all the reps in, i know with time i'll be faster! I've been on the beachbody message boards and chatrooms asking around about adding pullups to my work out. Since my goal is P90x which i know has a lot of pullups i've dicided it would be a waste not to incorporate time in these 90 days. I found a youtube video where Tony Horton shows how to modify pullups for beginners. People on the boards and chat have told me that if i incorporate 3 of my max reps every 3 days i should be fine and not effect my Power 90 program.

Nutrition has been consistant. I havn't had hunger pains and i'm now used to eating the meals. I just fall short on the days that my schedual changes. I will look up for alternatives. Live and learn. I havnt cheated. Nothing but water and green tea, no soda, beer no nothing.

Supplements. I didnt take the creatine on my day off and honestly need to read more about the use. my friend advises that its for heavy work out days. i wouldnt say my workouts are heavy. I'm sticking with the whey. I will be ordering shakeology this week. I dont hate the GNC lean shake but it only has 16 servings and is recomended twice a day instead of the once like i thought. If shakeology doesnt work out ill probably go back to it. I have mixed feelings about shakeology and am worried about a side effect article i read in the beachbody message boards. But i know things effect different poeple differently. My saving grace i that i can get my money back at the end of they frist month if im not satisfied! Not may products give you that kind of ease of mind.

coaches: This has been a head ache. First the random one i was assigned was so unrelateble to my cirucumstances that i had to switch. Then i found a great web site with an amazing coach and switched to him. Unfortunatly I havn't been able to contact him and he hasnt sent me anything. Every coach i talk to on chat just has such a heavy agenda about getting you to join them. Is fustraiting that i cant even get to know them and discuss or even ask for advice without them telling me to switch to them asap. "dont worry its free"... sigh. Today in chat i had an informative chat with coachWilde but with all his knowledge he went the other direction then i am. He started skinny... im coming from a different way. I just want a coach that can say he's been what i'm going thru. Im sure in time i will find some one.

Week two Day 1 down! And it feels like a day one.. Up at 5am to get in a workout and avoid my favorite excuse of "I was too busy last night" I never get much sleep so I'm hoping I can sustain these extra early mornings..

Altec - If your looking for a coach to speak to I can recommend "CoachBumpusBurn" I found him while drifting through the message boards. He's been approachable and happy to help even though he isn't my assigned coach. He did offer to help me join his team if my coach didn't get back to me but it wasn't the usual sales pitch.
