Cardio in Chalean Extreme
Cardio in Chalean Extreme

Hey All,

I am just about to start my 5th month of Turbo Fire (2nd month of the advanced schedule), and just ordered Chalean Extreme as my next program. I like the intensity of the cardio in Turbo Fire, and it took me forever to get decent at doing cardio, so i'm not wanting to lose it. I've heard that CE does have some cardio incorporated in it, but i guess im wondering how much? And how does it compare to TF? I was thinking about maybe doing a hybrid, but have never done that before and not sure how to go about making the schedule to get the best results out of both programs. maybe one whole week of one and then one of the next??

Anyone have any answers for me emoticon lol

Thanks!

Hey there!! I just finished up month 1 of Chalean Ex and I LOVE IT! I was a little worried about the cardio as well, coming off of Insanity, but the cardio really is good in it :} Tuesday and Sunday are rest days. Mon, wed and Fri are weight days and thur and Sat are cardio days. I have never done a hybrid either, but I was thinking about adding in a day of Insanity on Tuesday, just as another day of cardio. I feel like I need to keep my cardio up to keep the weight off ;} I hope this helps some!! Good luck!emoticon

I would try the first month of CE following the schedule. If you are dying for cardio, you can easily add an extra day in with Turbo Fire. (there are 2 rest days in CE)

If you still want more cardio, you can switch to a hybrid easily. Just google "chalean extreme turbo fire hybrid" and a ton of already made schedules will come up!

Good luck!

I am doing a CLX/TF hybrid after completing the 20-week advanced schedule of TF. I definitely recommend doing a hybrid, as I've heard complaints that CLX didn't have enough cardio. I didn't like the auto-schedule hybrid Beachbody had, so I'm doing Jenelle Summers's hybrid, which has more focus on the "Lean" portion of the program and has lots of HIIT workouts. Here's the link: http://www.melindasfitnessblog.com/beachbody/beachbody-program-schedules-hybrids/chalean-extreme-turbofire-hybrid

Good luck!

I've done a few rounds of the full Turbo Fire schedule, and before that Insanity, and I had the same concerns as you about losing the ability to do the tough cardio.

I think it's highly individual if the cardio in CLX is enough or not - some of it can be intense, but IMO it is not as intense overall as Turbo Fire or Insanity. But, I think it's pretty easy to add in some cardio. Most of the burn/push/lean workouts are not that long (30-40 minutes), so you can throw in a Turbo Fire HIIT on the same day -- I like to do them before I do the CLX burn/push/lean workout, but that's just my preference.

I agree with some of the other replies here in that I don't like the auto-schedule hybrid of CLX/Turbo Fire offered by BB - it seems like it starts off way too slow and easy if you've already done other BB workouts, so I made up my own hybrid. Basically I cycle through the burn/push/lean workouts 3x/week (one month for each phase) just as the regular cycle. But, I add in a HIIT before each. For the other 4 days, I do different mixes of the Turbo Fire classes as well as the CLX cardio routines...I'm sure you could do the same using Insanity rather than Turbo Fire, or even combine them all. That said, I do really like CLX overall - I like being able to have a workout specifically designed for resistance training.

Best of luck!
