p90x shakeology moms postpartum breastfeeding nursing brazil butt lift
1/2/13 2:48 PM
Hi Everyone!! My name is Michelle and I just had my fourth beautiful baby 5 months ago. I was half-way through P90X when I had to quit due to finding out I was pregnant. Since my baby boy was born, I've been resting as much as possible, eating well to keep my milk supply up, and doing easy exercises when I can. I'm ready now to start into a more challenging program. I'm just 8 lbs. away from my pre-pregnancy weight and before I got pregnant I was hoping to lose 4 more lbs. with P90X. So, I would like to lose around 12 lbs, however, as we all know, it's not the weight that matters...it's how we look in the mirror and how our clothes fit! Pregnancy definitely does a number on your bum and stomach so I'm looking to reshape my body and get back into all of my cute clothes that are still sitting in storage! Urrgh!

I'm also a coach and am ready to help motivate and encourage those out there who need it! I would love to have some other moms to share this journey with. Being postpartum has it's own challenges and questions. If you're thinking about getting back in shape after pregnancy...even if it wasn't recent...I'd love to have you join this thread. I plan to exercise every day in some way. I plan to mix P90X workouts in with walking and Brazil Butt Lift workouts. My intentions are to customize a program that will help me achieve my goals taking into consideration the increased calorie needs for a nursing mom and also taking into account the demands of having an infant.

I will be posting details of my workouts and eating plan to keep myself accountable. I'm going to a mostly vegan nutrition plan but will post more about that later on. Please join me with whatever workout plan you like and we can hold each other accountable for pushing play each day and eating clean and healthy...our beautiful babies deserve it and so do their beautiful mommies!! Hope to see lots of you here soon!

This is a great thread!!!

I just had my 3rd baby girl 14 months ago & have lost all the baby weight Plus an extra 20 lbs. But Now I just need to lose the rest of the baby weight from the first 2....LOL I know what you mean about keeping up your supply. Water is key to keep your supply up while working out & lowering your calories. I just recently stopped nursing & now have been watching everything that goes in my mouth so I don't gain. So far I've done good ;)

I am currently doing BodyBeast & I am loving my results!!!

emoticon I am with ya girl!! 100%!! CONGRATULATIONS by the way!!! As for taking the baby weight off, I do believe you have it right on the money when it comes to exercising and eating healthy immediately!! (I didn't do that, that's how I know) So I stayed the same weight as when I left the hospital only having lost 18 pounds after the birth of my first born, which I had gained 63 pounds during this pregnancy mind you!! I know!! OMG!! That's what I said LOL Then I went on to have baby number 2, a boy, gained 25 and lost it all when he came home.....was back at 180. Then had a 3rd, got big with her but took all that off too, back to 180. I just couldn't seem to get below that 180 mark no matter what I tried and I tried EVERYTHING!!! I kept seeing Beach Body commercials for Insanity and that's what did it for me! Last year I purchased Insanity and took off 65 pounds between April and October 2012!! Went from a size 18/20 to a size 12!! I have 40-50 more I need to take off to get me to where I REALLY want to be but I am SO PROUD OF YOU and thought I'd share my story and let you know you have my support and my backup. GO FOR IT MA!! YOU DESERVE IT!! AGAIN CONGRATULATIONS!! KISSES TO YOUR NEW ONE FROM ME. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOURS AND HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE NEW YEAR!!

PS I need to add in that I allowed myself get all the way up to 248 before I actually DID SOMETHING about it. I was tired, out of breath easily, couldn't get up from a sitting position or out of bed as easy as I used to....it was HORRIBLE. It's like the weight just came on all of a sudden and I didn't notice and nobody told me. I had gotten depressed, was very stressed and that did it along with some medications a Dr had me on that made me want to eat more and more. I got off those medications, started phentermine under Dr's supervision and began Insanity with Shakeology (WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!) I found it hard to eat all I was supposed to be eating in one day!! LOL

Our story's are so similar...But I got all the way up to 280lbs with a baby & 270lbs after. I went from 160lbs to pregnant & 280lbs with in 10months. The weight just came so quick & I know my eating was to blame Plus sitting on my big bum.....LOL I did the weight loss clinic too & took Phentermine also...Now I Use others from GNC its called HD & CLK plus Cleanse & lean. I just stopped breast feeding my youngest this past friday & Im happy to say that I stared them the next day & Instead of gaining weight I have lost 5lbs so far emoticon

Michelle I love this thread & I hope you don't mind but I would love to stay on & help support you & this wonderful Thread you have got started here. I am a part of the big wonderful TEAM ENGAGE!!! I sure wish that there was one like this when I started to lose my baby weight. Plus I still have one more baby to go will be trying for a boy next year since we have 3 girls. I would love be able to learn anything that will help me with the next baby weight that comes on.... my goal is only to gain the normal amount 25-30lbs. But that was the goal last time too & lets just say that was a fail emoticon But the weight is off now So thats good.

Thanks for your support!!!

Carlie

Welcome Everyone to the thread! Thanks for all the support, encouragement and well wishes.

I am so excited to get moving towards my fitness and nutrition goals and so happy to see you all here so that we can share motivation, information, encouragement, etc. with each other. I'd love to hear everyone's goals for the next few months if you don't mind sharing. As for me, I would like to complete P90X...the whole thing this time. I know that if I do that and eat clean then my body will be where I want it to. I have several mountains (14ers) I'd like to climb this summer so finishing P90X will be a great start to getting in the shape necessary to be successful.

I stated out here at Beachbody on Coach Jason's thread and found that one of the things that really helped me was the accountability factor. We would come to the thread everyday to post our workout as well as how we did nutritionally. With that in mind...

Today I did the P90X fit test. It wasn't as bad as I thought, but I couldn't believe how winded I was when doing the 2 minutes of jumping jacks. Wow!! It felt awesome to max out on the crunches and bicep curls. I also found out how much I need to stand up straight! When I did the wall squat it made me realize that I was hunching my shoulders...it actually felt strange to put my back flat against the wall. I know this is a big problem with new moms, especially when nursing. We tend to always be curling our shoulders in when we pick up baby or nurse, etc. It was a great reminder of how important posture is to how we look and also to how we feel. I feel so much taller after the fit test...just because I'm standing up straight and tall..oh yea..and my belly looks smaller when I stand up straight! LOL!

I've eaten really well today...Shakeology of course, whole grains, fruits, vegetables and nuts. I'm heading to the store now for the fixings for a great vegan dinner!

So happy to see you all here. Let me know if you have any questions...I am here to help and if I don't know the answer...I'll find it. Great job mamas! Keep pushing play!!

Hi! I would love to join you! I had a baby two years ago, lost all the weight, and then gained about 10 lbs. I'd like to lose that 10 lbs, and be more healthy! I decided to start p90x in October cuz I could do it after my daughter went to bed and I didn't have to miss out on any time with her (she's in daycare all day so I only have her for the evenings). I really slacked during the holiday season so I decided to start over today.
I did day one of week one today and I actually did a dive bomber push up! That's one more than I could do back in October! emoticon

Jessi, That is awesome! Those dive bomber push ups are killer! We're so happy to have you join the thread!

I know what you mean about not wanting to take time away from your little one. I've been very blessed to be able to stay home with my kiddo this time but when my others were in daycare I was very protective of the time I had together with them. I think that is a great idea to exercise once your daughter has gone to bed. I know that for some people, exercise at night keeps them from getting to sleep but it seems to depend on the person...I tend to like to exercise more in the afternoon and evening and I have no trouble getting to sleep!

Congratulations on starting P90X again. I'll be tackling Day 1 of P90X today! Looking forward to it! Keep pushing play...I can't wait to see our results!

Hi All!

Just wanted to put in some accountability stats for the day...I completed Day 1 of P90X. Chest and Back and Ab Ripper. It was really hard but felt so good to be back at it. I have lost all of my pull ups (I could do 3 half way through P90X last time), but I know that I will get that strength back. I took it a little easier on myself than I normally would have because I want to be able to pick up my kiddo tomorrow (I remember how incredibly sore you get the first week)!

My eating has been clean and Shakeology has definitely helped me to get rid of sugar cravings, which is fabulous because I have a enormous sweet tooth!

How are you all doing with your programs? Are you able to push play everyday or do you find things getting in the way? I am finding that flexibility is the key for me. I am a bit of a perfectionist and I find that I have to put that aside in order to be successful at anything right now whether it is cleaning the house, or my eating plan or exercise, etc. If I allow myself to be flexible and "not perfect" at everything I get a whole lot more done. I had to stop my workout today half way through because my little guy woke up. I realized that it was OK. I did what I needed to do and enjoyed every minute with my kiddos and then as soon as I was able, I warmed up again and finished the rest. As Tony says..."Do your best, forget the rest". What a great piece of advice for today!

Take Care all and have a great night!

Michelle

Hi Everyone!

I didn't get to push play yesterday, emoticon but I did do it this afternoon while my little girl napped. emoticon

I did plyometrics which is usually my least favorite. It was tough, and I had to modify like Pam, but I felt great afterwards...like I had accomplished a lot. I tried some of my husband's pre-workout drink (essential energy aminos). He said it would give me energy and I definitely need that for plyo. Then I was reading about recovery drinks cuz I've never had one before. They always talk in the videos about how good they are...so I looked up how to make your own and decided to have some chocolate milk. Of course I had to share with my two-year-old because she woke up from her nap right as I was drinking it. emoticon I'm already a little sore in my thighs...eek! And still sore from chest and back the other day. Do you all ever stretch more after completing a workout? I was thinking maybe it would help with the soreness but it may just be cuz I'm working those muscles so much harder than usual.

Eating is the hardest part for me. I usually eat fairly healthy but I have a hard time resisting the chocolate. I had a chocolate banana muffin for breakfast (bad), but then had an okay lunch of cheese with crackers and banana with peanut butter. For dinner we had bbq chicken, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Is that a healthy dinner? I don't have the p90x nutrition plan, but from the recipes I saw online it seems like you should limit the carbs. What do you think?

I hope you're all doing well and getting to move a bit. emoticon

Hi Everyone!

Jess, I agree, plyometrics is a tough one. I didn't get to push play over the weekend, as my little guy was teething and my sleep was very disrupted so I didn't want to do plyo when I was already wiped out. I think it's really important to listen to your body! I did do a lot of walking and my eating was healthy.

As for the recovery drink, I always felt that it was somewhat unnecessary, until I decided to try the P90X drink. I was just so darn sore all of the time it was getting ridiculous. I kept hearing in the videos and the newsletters that the drink would help so I thought I would give it a try...I was very skeptical. So, I tried it and I absolutely love it. I definitely didn't get as sore when I was drinking the recovery drink. Unfortunately it does have a small amount of creatine in it so it's definitely not for nursing moms. I would completely recommend it for anyone else though. I started to actually look forward to downing a glass after my workout! For now, chocolate milk is a good choice for me too!

Jess, I think that eating healthy is a process. Once you really start to look at your diet and do some research into food then you start to make changes. Habits are really hard to break and it is so important not to allow yourself to feel deprived. What really works for me is to not allow myself to get really hungry. I always keep healthy snacks, like veggies and hummus, around and ready so that if I start to get hungry I just munch on those until I figure out what meal I want to make. If I get hungry and then have to wait to make something without having a snack, I tend to pick more unhealthy fare. As for chocolate, it's actually good for you as long as it's dark chocolate and you don't have more than an ounce or two each day. It has lots of antioxidants!

Sounds to me like your dinner was pretty healthy as long as the potatoes didn't have the normal butter, etc. You definitely needs the carbs for fuel. The important thing about carbs is to make sure they are complex rather than simple. Which simply means to make sure they are as close to nature as possible. For instance, white flour and everything made with it has lots of carbs but not good ones. The natural grain has been stripped of its fiber and nutrients. Something made with whole wheat or buckwheat for instance would be a better choice. Fresh fruits and vegetables are full of carbs too but they are great for you and provide very needed fuel. Have a source of protein with every meal as well.

You are doing awesome! I'm hoping to get the chance to push play today...crossing my fingers that the new teeth coming in won't cause too much pain for my little guy. If not, then I'll just get on the treadmill, whenever I get the chance, to at least burn some extra calories! Have a wonderful Monday!!

Hello Ladies,

I hope you are all doing well with your workouts and nutrition plans. Being a mom and trying to get back into shape is definitely a work in progress. I tried to start back into P90X but realized that I am not getting near enough sleep to do so. I guess I was a little overeager!emoticon My little boy is 5 months old and although he sometimes sleeps 5 or 6 hours in a row...most of the time it's more like 2 to 3 although we're working on it. It's getting better everyday, except for days like the last few where he is teething and I feel like I don't have a minute's break all day or night. I know you know what I'm talking about...walking zombies!!emoticon

Anyhow, as I was saying...a work in progress. I will not get discouraged. I realize that I can still drink my Shakeology and eat very nutritiously. I can fit in a workout when possible and when it's not I've found an easy way to get in some exercise on the fly. I drop and give myself 20 any time I can throughout the day. For instance, I put my little guy in his highchair and on the way to the pantry to get his food, I drop and do 20 push-ups or sit-ups or whatever I can think of. When I play with him, I do baby bicep curls or lay on my back and do baby chest press. LOL! I try to squeeze in exercise wherever I can and although I still have 8 pounds to go to my pre-pregnancy weight...that's ok...in fact...that's great! I just need to keep moving forward...baby-steps right?

Take care ladies and know that every little thing you do adds up. We might not be able to be the perfectionist workout master that we want to be right now...but the time is coming. Enjoy every moment with your little ones because they're gone so very quickly. Pat yourself on the back for being a great mom and know that even if you have to take baby-steps the important part is to take those steps in the right direction...every day.

Hugs mommies!

Michelle

Hello Everyone!

Hello ladies! I'm Shante and I'm a proud mommy of my 3 month old baby boy, Arian! I had him at the end of September 2012, and now I'm just trying to tone and get in shape. I gained 50 lbs with him and have lost all but 7 lbs. I'm not on a diet, I just workout to 10 minute trainer. I do 3 workouts everyday bc that's really all the time that I have, especially bc I breastfeed. I attempted P90X once last year and failed miserably. I am a relatively skinny person, so when I gained all of that baby weight, I just looked like a normal person. Now I'm getting back to my skinny self without even trying. I chalk that up to breastfeeding, drinking a ton of water, and just having a fast metabolism!

Nice meeting you ladies!

Hi Shante and welcome to our thread! Wow, you are doing great...only 3 months out and almost back to pre-pregnancy weight! I think that working out three times each day with the ten minute trainer is a great idea. It is so hard, when you have an infant and are breastfeeding as well, to find a large block of time to work-out. Shorter workouts have been working great for me too! I was half-way through P90X when I became pregnant and had to stop but I can't wait to get back to it...talk about results! For now though, I'm happy to start out slow and steady! Again...welcome! Keep up the great work!

Hi Michelle!
I have a beachbody coach but saw your thread and wanted to join in on this as I just had my baby end of September. I'm at my pre-pregnancy weight but need to lose another 20 lbs as I had that to lose before I got pregnant. I am doing Insanity and struggling to keep up because I'm so exhausted when I get home. Plus I am kind of like a single mom in that my husband works on his personal business after he gets off his regular job. That leaves me with the difficult task of trying to figure out how to fit my workout in as soon as I get home because if I wait till the little one goes to bed it could be anywhere from 8pm-10pm and by then, I have absolutely no energy left. He is the love of my life (besides my hubby) and I don't want to take time away from him but I know he needs a fit mamma.
Help is definitely needed! Whew- I don't know how you do it with four babies! I feel like I shouldn't complain yet I'm still struggling.
Would love to hear how you ladies get it done.
