I've gained 7 pounds since I started Sim in 6
I should start by saying I'm 42 yrs. old, and I'm marginally overweight. I started Slim in 6 program 11 weeks ago. I'm down to the last 4 days. I started off strong exercising every day, but once I started the Ramp it up program, I began having vaginal bleeding. After 9 days of bleeding, I looked it up online and discovered that it meant I was pushing too hard, and it could be dangerous to my health. I also noticed I went up 4 pounds, but I did lose 2 inches in my waist. So, I decided to keep up with the program, but give myself a few days of breaks each week. I made it through Thanksgiving without gaining weigh, in fact I lost 2 pounds (still 2 pounds more than when I started). Then I started the Burn it up program, again giving myself about 2 days a week off. The day after Christmas, I was still at the same weight. Now, just 4 days left, I'm up 7 pounds more than I was before I started the program 11 weeks ago. I haven't been indulging in my food like many do during the holidays. I probably haven't been doing as well as I should with dieting, but I have been eating healthier and trying to make the right choices for the last 10 months. Before I stated Slim in 6, I was working out on the treadmill and Zumba on X-box, I lost 8 pounds in 8 months. Now I'm just 1 pound away from where I was before I lost those 8 pounds! I'm so frustrated! Please tell me what I'm doing wrong!

Are you measuring in any other way but the scale. You said you lost 2 inches in your waist, is it still gone? did you lose more? The other thing I would be concerned about is the bleeding. Have you gone in to see your doctor? I think that should be your first step to make sure there isn't anything medically wrong. Next, how are you measuring your food? Are you writing down what you eat and tracking calories? How many calories do you consume daily?

The inches I lost are still off and haven't changed since week 3. I am 5'3 and currently 158 lbs. I started the program at 151 lbs. The bleeding ended about 3 days after I stopped exercising every day so I have not checked with my Dr. since that seemed to have ended. I now workout 1 hour a day 3 x per week, plus 15 min. ab workout with 15 stretching 3 x per week on opposite days and 1 day break per week. I must admit I am not keeping track of my calories as well as I should, however I know I've been eating smaller portions and eating healthier than I did when I was doing Zumba and treadmill for only 25-45 min 4-5 x per week. My breakfast is usually something small (a bowl of dry cereal, no milk or one slice of toast with peanut butter and jelly) after I complete my workout I have a small snack (single serving of hummus with baked veggie chips or 100 cal. cheese with pretzels) My lunch is also small (usually a low calorie, aprox. 280-350 cal., frozen dinner) then I often have a mid-day 100 calorie snack or fresh fruit. I drink lots of water all day. Dinner is where I have my problem. It varies, sometimes a healthy dinner at home (salad with grilled chicken or chicken and side of whole wheat pasta or brown rice and a veggie) but sometimes we order pizza (2 slices with spinach) or chinese food (tofu, veggies and rice) and sometimes we go out for Mexican (cheese enchilada and guacamole with chips). These are just some examples of a typical day for me. I love my fruit and vegetables and I do probably eat too many carbs and not enough protein, but I'm trying to at least lower my portion sizes and portions of carbs. I was eating about the same before, but larger portions and more high fat "comfort foods". I've also cut out all deep fried foods except the chips with guacamole. Anyway, I'm going to work on counting my calories better. I'm just not sure why, while exercising more and eating less I was gaining weight. It's frustrating to see my weight almost back to 160, my highest weight, when it took me 8 months to get down to 151. My goal weight was to be between 120-125, but now I'd just be happy to be at 140 again. I was at that weight 2 1/2 yrs. ago before I turned 40.

wow! how frustrating that must be. I'm new to beachbody. Have been trying to lose weight for a while now. I'm 46 at 202 lbs. In my opinion (no expert) I would say your problem might be food. You need to write down what you eat and find out how many calories in total. I had that problem and went to see a nutritionist. I thought I ate to little until I wrote down all food for a week and realized I was eating almost 1700 cals. She recommended 1500, but I could do with 1300, which Im sticking with.

For example, when eating out have a salad (greens) and grilled chicken for lunch. If your eating chinese or pasta, a 1/2 cup of rice or pasta should be enough (I almost fainted the first week I tried this, but your body and stomach will adjust. Also you might need to add a day of walking or low cardio to your exercise routine. Your body might be getting used to the exercise and wants to store reserves of fat. Hope it works out. emoticon

Thank you nydiarquel and Heatherfaley I do need to start counting calories better and cut back on my carbs. I'm working on that now. I have thought things through a little more and realized that over the holidays, I have had some alcohol. I'm not much of a drinker, hardly ever have anything, but with holiday parties, where I was trying to avoid overeating, I did have some wine. Over New year's eve and new year's day I drank a whole bottle of skinnygirl margarita. That's when I put on the last 3 &1/2 lbs. I'm not saying that was the whole problem, because I know before the holiday's I was still not losing weight. I was just going back & forth between gaining and losing 2-4 lbs. So, no more alcohol and cutting back on my carbs and calories, that's what I think I need to do from here on. Hopefully I'll start seeing the scale go down soon! I've almost finished the 6 week program now, but I will continue to do the program, maybe another 6 weeks from the beginning. We'll see how it goes!

Hi,
Just offering another suggestion - you could be taking in too much salt. Alcohol and other hidden sodium can keep extra water weight on your body too. When you get down to 10-15lbs it really is a struggle to get over the speed-bumps and lose that weight.

Check out myfitnesspal or start a food journal. It really is amazing when you write it down you can see exactly where your problem is. Also, measure more than just your waist. You might have gained muscle in your legs and arms and that has hindered your "weight loss" but in reality, you are tighter and toned.

If you are taking in just an extra 100-150 calories a day (which is nothing), that's almost 10 lbs after a year!

The bottom line is do you like the way you look/feel doing slim in 6? The weight will come off is you stay with it

Good luck, Rachael

Just another suggestion. Take a look at the ratio of protein to carbs to fats. I just read a study that women tend to not eat enough protein and it has been shown that a higher ratio of protein has resulted in weight loss. I know that this is true in my case.

Also look at the times that you are eating. Do you stop eating three hours before going to bed to maximize fat burning overnight? Do you exercise on an empty stomach so you burn fat not carbs?

I know the frustration of working out and not seeing any changes. I hope this helps.

I've been looking for a website to log my food intake and check on calories. I'm new to beachbody (just completed 3rd week of slim in 6) and haven't lost any weight (did lose 1/2 inch almost every measurement emoticon). I'm using livestrong.com and it gives a fair count plus you log in your exercise and it gives you calories burned.

Been struggling with weight gain for a while, and the slim in 6 program gives me energy and I can follow it every day.
