CoachShayS:
I just came back from a weekend trip to see a friend of mine, this is the first time I've been away from my kitchen since really, really honing in on what I'm eating and becoming very aware of what I put in my body.
As such, I was painfully aware this weekend of how terrible I was eating. We were typically on the go and doing things, and that aside it's not overly practical to haul stuff to your buddies kitchen and hog it to cook yourself a meal. haha.
Also, while there are healthy restuarants out there if you travel to a big city they could easily be a 30 min or more drive from you so you're stuck with fast food at hand.
Anyway, I'm sure the list could go on and on, but what do some of you do when you're travelling to try and eat healthy?
I've ran into this numerous times, either work related or general vacation.
I bring my Shakeology and protein powder with me, along with a shaker cup which is usually my breakfast, or maybe a snack. If the hotel has breakfast I stick to fruit, eggs, wheat toast etc.
I also like to bring almonds and protein bars with me as snacks.
When eating out, I just try to eat the best I can with as much protein, chicken usually, and veggies as a side. For fast food, it can be tough. Subway is a decent option. when I was down in Tennessee last month, we went to Chik-Fil-A. I ordered 2 grilled chicken sandwiches, and threw away the bun from both, so I essentially had 2 grilled chicken patties. And ordered a side salad. And a diet lemonade. I love their lemonade!
Hope this helps a bit!
