Cramping...help!
Cramping...help!

Ok,this is day 1 of Insanity for me. Talk about being out of shape!

I started the warm up, not realizing that's what it was, and thought "well, am I supposed to be writing something down? How will I know if I did better?"....

Oh! That's just the warm up(which was kicking my butt!), now begins the test!...

I could do the first 5 tests/exercises with, obviously, effort. During the fifth though, my legs started cramping. Then REALLY cramping! As in "charlie horse" types of feelings in my quads and thighs. I actually had to stop to sit, THEN the cramping got worse.

I stopped there, not wanting to not be able to work out.

I get I'm out of shape. That's why I'm doing this. I hate stopping, because I feel I can't track the other tests I haven't done yet. I need advice...

If this is where I am, my feeling is, this is where I am. My next test can only be better, right? Or is that wrong thinking? I am VERY willing to push myself. I keep "my head" in check, to make sure it's not just an excuse. It's not. In the past, I have injured myself from pushing too hard.

So the question is, what do I do with my results. Just document what I could do, and next test, go for more? I believe that's the concept, even if I didn't make it to some of them. Is that right?

Just document what you could do. Be sure to drink plenty of fluids and if you need to take some extra time to loosen up then do so. You're the boss of this program. If you need to stop and take breaks during the videos then do so. At no time should you ever put yourself at risk. This isn't a competition, it's you getting into better cardio shape. Stick with it and you will see improvements.

Hey!

yes, you can only get better from here. I like what the above poster said, make sure you're drinking LOTS of water. Always have water with you and drink it throughout the day. It'll help immensely with soreness and cramping. Keep at it and don't give up. Don't injure yourself either though! haha. You're awesome for starting! You can join my Insanity group HERE if you'd like extra motivation and a group to support you emoticon

Thanks so much for the input. It's nice to know just because you are were you want to be doesn't mean you are failing...or that you won't get there.

Today, stairs are my enemy!

Ha ha ha - my calves were SO SORE the first week I did Insanity! Like everyone recommended, drink water and get in some potassium. Bananas are a great way to ward off cramps.
It takes a week to get into the program and feel you are digging in. It takes a few weeks for the tenderness to subside (and you might see some weight gain the first few weeks as well from acid build up).
You will love it!!!! Keep going. Make sure you take pics, your measurements and do the fit tests!!! You will be so proud when you see your progress!!
