Stage 4 Cancer SURVIVOR and starting P90X! I am a WARRIOR!
loren peritoneal cancer stage 4 cancer

Good Morning. My story in short...
I have the dread CANCER thing! My Mum died of ovarian cancer and my older sister, has Stage 4 ovarian cancer. IT SUCKS!! We have the BRCA 2 gene in the family, which is a genetic defect. I had "preventative" surgeries in 2009, a total hysterectomy & double mastectomy with reconstruction. It brought my "odds" way down of getting cancer... I got it anyway. emoticon

February 2011 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Peritoneal Cancer, which is treated like ovarian. Peritoneal cancer is a rare cancer that develops in the peritoneum, a thin, delicate sheet that lines the inside wall of the abdomen. A month in the hospital, infection in the breast implant, they had to be removed and 6 rounds of chemo.

I had my 6 month post chemo check-up in January 2012 and my blood work came back NORMAL! Sadley at 9 months the cancer is BACK! Starting another 6 rounds of chemo April 11, 2012. here we go again! No health insurance... emoticon Now done with chemo & 5 months in REMISSION!
As long as I am alive and I have my amazing son & husband by my side, I can handle anything. I am a WARRIOR!

NOW, during the past 2 years I have wofted on the weight. I now need to match my body to my mind. I am happy, I look at life in a whole new way and I want to get fit and be happy with my body.

I started today with Chest/Back. I have to modify, pushups... on the knees, pull-ups... uhh no! LOL But I did do the bands. Day one done, I can't do PLYO due to horrid knees, but will do cardio-X tomorrow. Thanks for listening. Really... If I can do this... ;)

Wow, as I said before, you have dedication and you are committed! I like your attitude and the way you shut down all excuses. Your story is so motivating there's no way I can skip a workout now. Doing pushups on your knees is better then not doing pushups at all, we will work on those regular pushups and I can guarantee you that before you are done you're 90 days you will be doing regular pushups.

You are a warrior and Im blessed to have you part of my team. Together we will succeed, I will not let you give up!

Good Morning!

Day 1 - I did the Chest and Back. I can't do push-ups, so I did some on my knees and some using the back of the couch. The pull-ups, uuuh, no. LOL I ended up using the bands and that worked for me.

Day 2 - I can't do PLYO due to my knees, so I did my own cardio for 30 minutes. I must say, I struggled. OMG, I am out of shape! But, I got through it and I know I'll improve.

Day 3 - I did Shoulders & Arms. I love weight stuff and my strong body part would be arms. When I am "in shape" I can get some decent "guns" however it has been awhile. I did enjoy that DVD.

Day - 4 Yoga... again it will be a bit tough with my stupid knees, but I will do it and modify. I know stretching makes these old bones feel better! ;)

I have just realized that I have forgotten to do the AB Ripper all week. Oh well, I'll start that today.

Food... I am trying. I have improved, there is much more room to improve in that department.

You know, even though this is hard and half the time I am saying, "grrr, I don't want to do this" AFTER I feel great! I am in a better mood and just feel like I have improved myself. I shall carry on! emoticon

Have an awesome day everyone!

Oh, and Tony's tip of the day, "Don't smash you're face" made me laugh.

That is my favorite Tony quote of all times. How are you feeling after Legs & Back? Walking like a penguin yet? I hated that workout, but that's because I would always skip legs day at the gym. My excuse: "Im strong enough in the legs, I dont need it" Well Tony sure proved me wrong!

Monday... I could have done better on the weekend. Ready to go today. I work at a Gold's Gym, used to be in the child care but had to take a leave due to my stupid cancer. I am still on payroll because I run the FB page and website, I also help with promotions (more my thing anyway). Yesterday I had a meeting with the owner and a guy from Atlanta that is involved in P90X. We are starting P90X at our gym by the end of the month along with this new group exercise stuff called "AGX" Adrenaline Group Exercise.

The point of this post, I always feel awful "representing" Gold's Gym looking like I do! It was a good nudge to keep going. I have so many issues with bad knees and plantar fasciitis in my right heel, it is frustrating to NOT be able to do things I want to do or used to be able to do. Being overweight does NOT help either of those ailments. So, I'll press on... it is not easy. May the Force be with me! LOL emoticon

Epiphany: P90X is really way out of my fitness level right now with all of my physical issues, so I am going to do Power 90. Why feel pressured to do "what everyone else is doing," when I think Power 90 will be what I need right now. ;) I can do Power 90 and follow with P90X.

Sorry to hear P90X is not for you but it's good that you are listening to what your body is telling you. Hopefully Power 90 will work for you, if not we will find a solution.

I just wanted to say that I feel re-energized today! I am looking forward to starting Power 90 and feel this program is way more my speed at this time. Why struggle through a crazy workout and get discouraged, when I can do one that is doable. I have been through a lot in the past two years and have to remember that my body has taken a beating. Chemo ravishes your body and I have had so much of it. My mind is still in the come on Loren, just do it mode, when in reality I must get my body back to that point. Thanks for all of your support, I don't want to let myself own. Thanks Danny for always sending positive words my way.
