The wife and I are doing a round of Les Mills Combat. I've had great success with P90X, P90X2 and Insanity while she has done TurboFire and ChaLean Extreme. We'll be getting up at 5:0 am to do these workouts together. I'll probably add some doubles with P90X or X2 to work on strength gains.

I lost 50 pounds doing Beachbody programs and I hope to lose 15-20 more by the spring. The workouts in Combat that I have tried are great ad really get the calories burning for me.

I've discovered that these message boards were crucial to my success. By posting here every day and having a group of people to hold me accountable, I was much more likely to stick to the program. Plus, I discovered that other people would run into the same problems I did.

Come workout with me and let's stay in the fight!

This is the "wife"... Well, we've done two workouts together and have not kicked each other in the head (or other parts) I consider that a win! So far we have done Combat 30 and the Power HIIT. Both of these get my heart rate going and produce a larger calorie burn than the Turbo Fire 30 minute routines but it may be because these are totally new and confusing. Fun though! Stay with the Fight!

I finished my third day yesterday (combat 45)... let's just say, it's getting a little easier to walk today... first two days reminded me of Insanity, can barely get up and down out of a chair! Gah, but I love it!!! Really stoked to see what this program has in store, hope to loose a good 15lbs or more by the end of the 60days! Stay in the Fight!!!

Hello everyone!! I was hoping to start yesterday to stay with the calender but went ahead and started today with the Combat 30 and next week will get back on schedule. I have started P90X many times as well as Insanity but have never completed either program. I was so excited to start Combat and I have to say it is very intense and I loved it completely. Can't wait for tomorrow. Anyway.....nice to meet everyone and I am sooooo ready to be held accountable. I NEED TO FINISH THIS PROGRAM!!! LOL.k

Have a great day everyone!!! emoticon

Monday was Combat 30 Live. It is 33 minutes long without a real cool down or stretch afterwards. It is very similar to regular Combat 30 with a few exceptions. It is a burned on the shoulders for sure and the legs will get pretty tired after all of the kicks. My heart rate monitor read 530 calories by the end of the workout.

This morning, we tackled Combat HIIT Power. This one is a total body burner. Lot of shoulder presses, squats and core moves. You will earn that post workout shake for sure. I've done this workout twice now and am still getting the coordination down. There are some compound moves which are great for getting stronger and burning calories. It just takes some getting used to.

I followed it up with my first experience with the Core Attack disc. I have to say it is tougher than P90X2 Ab Ripper, but is still less challenging than the original Ab Ripper X. Still, it felt really good to see some different core moves. Some are familiar like a version of Fifer Scissors and Bicycles. The fun ones are the plank moves. If you've done Insanity, they’ll be familiar. If you were crazy enough to do Combat HIIT Power just prior, they moves will be very, very familiar. There were a few groans and grunts by the end of the workout. I like the program since it targets all parts of the core, upper, lower side and back.

Gredge - Welcome to the thread! When your discs arrive, I highly suggest you preview them. There is a nice intro disc that teaches you the basics. I run through that one to get some of the moves down.

eadams04 - It does remind me a bit of Insanity and some of the moves are very familiar. But with Insanity, you get breaks. No real breaks here.

murp13 - We compressed the regular Warrior schedule ourselves, so you could probably do the same. Skip the middle Rest Day and move right to HIIT Plyo. You'll want that day of rest before you start week two. I tried and failed three times for I finished my first round of P90X. Once I did, there was no stopping me. I think once you complete Combat, you'll be ready to tackle those other programs again.

Hi All!
I received Combat today and am starting tonight. During the past year I've completed 2 rounds of Insanity, 2 rounds of Turbofire and a round of P90x. I am struggling a little with some tendonitis in my left deltoid and bicep, so hopefully this won't hinder me too much. I'm looking forward to working out with all of you!

murp13 - Good to see a somewhat local face around ere. We are up on the NE side of Houston in the Kingwood area.

cbayne245 - That is a serious list of accomplishments. I have never had tendonitis, so I can't really say how the workouts might affect you. There are a lot of punches (obviously) that get my shoulders sore. The presses could be a problem, but you can always use lighter weights.

@CoachScottP I see that you've done the Warrior Dash, I did it right before finishing Insanity and I loved it.. plan to do the Tough Mudder at the end of the year

Good luck everyone!!!

Good morning everyone! Day 2 in the books!!!!

How is everyone doing? I know I am a little sore from yesterday. I misplaced my calender so I was not sure which dvd to do this morning so I did the Combat 45 and will do the HIIT: Power tomorrow and then get back on track next week. I have to tell you I was dripping with sweat and bent over several times but it felt GREAT to get through it!! My favorite move is the knee strikes....I love doing them and it gets the blood pumping, no doubt!!!

CoachScottP.....thanks for the advice, I will certainly try that as I know I will need a rest day!

cbayne245.......nice to meet you and welcome! Look forward to working out with you also!emoticon

eadams04........nice to meet you also! Stay with it!!

Have a great day everyone and remember....STAY WITH THE FIGHT!!!!

This morning we tackled Combat 45. I did it once before, so it was a little familiar. There is a large variety of punches and kicks in this one. The first long punch series was murder on my shoulders. The kicks that followed were tough too. The combos move quickly and the timing and coordination take some practice. If you've done TurboFire, you know what I mean. The back side of my left knee was hurting at the half way point of the kick section. I pushed through, but it is still a bit bothersome.

My heart rate monitor acted up again and hit 230 at one point when it should have been in the 140's. My calorie burn reported in at 734, but it was obviously inflated just a bit. I have yet to try any of the Combat 60 workouts, but I have a feeling they will be murder. I was very ready for the workout to end today at the 45 minute mark.

Tomorrow is a scheduled rest day, but we'll be doing HIIT Plyo.

eadams45 - Good to hear Combat 60 isn't as scary as it looks. I might do it Saturday morning. I did my Warrior Dash back in March. I was never a runner and didn't really train for the running portion. I am doing a Couch to 5k program so I can do better in this year's race. I have neighbors entering the race with me. A Mudder looks fun, but unless I can convince my body that running is fun, it isn't going to happen.

murp13 - The first week goes like this: Combat 30, HIIT Power, Combat 45, HIIT Plyo, Combat 30. The Knee Strikes are fun, especially when you get the jumping ones going. The only thing I can't quite do yet is get that bouncing up and down thing they do. One of these days...

Good Morning!
Last night I watched the Basics video and did the Combat 30. I was a little disappointed with Combat 30 because I thought it was too easy. Are the other workouts much harder? After watching all the promo videos I was expecting Insanity like intensity. I even think Turbofire is more intense. Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

I would put them at a level lower than Insanity, but along the lines of TurboFire, but slightly more intense. It's not an impossible program like Insanity felt the first time. You also have done a lot the past year, so are already fit. I'd be interested in your thoughts on Combat 45 or 60.

I will say that Combat 45 is a little more intense, at least for me anyway. I would'nt say that I am in good shape. LOL

Did Shock Plyo today. I think I am going to have to figure out a way to enjoy burpees! The 30 minutes goes by fast and I was drenched in sweat by the end. It was a total leg workout so that was a good break for my shoulders.
