Planning to start insanity on Monday. Stuff is in the pos and i expect it to be here on Wednesday or Thursday. Is there anything that I can be doing in the meantime?

Hey Owen!

Glad to have ya here!

Have you done any programs before? Depending on you level of fitness, I'd say some light stretching. There is a lot of leg work, jumping, lateral movement, running in place.

Good supportive shoes like cross trainers. I use racquetball shoes because of the lateral support.

Some things you should consider, a heart rate monitor. I use the chest/wrist watch combination.

I just got a body fat monitor but the jury is still out on that as I'm learning to use it properly.

For the first time, I watch the videos ahead of time to see what is in store for me.

When you get the package and are ready to start, make sure you take your pictures and measurements. They'll be the true indicator of your progress!

Post your Fit Test results if you'd like also.

I started this week. Have done it before but trying to really push to the brink now. I can always use motivation though even though I started this week.

Hey Chris! Welcome!

When did you last do the program? I did Insanity: Asylum in November and then a hybrid of Asylum/P90x in December. I started Insanity last week and then had a home project delay. I'm on day 4 today, Cardio Recovery.

I plan on posting everyday for the accountability.
BTW, Here are my first Fit Test numbers: I thought I had great numbers on the switch kicks(79) then read that it's TWO kicks per rep.

Switch Kicks: 39
Power Jacks: 39
Power Knees: 74
Power Jumps: 24
Globe Jumps: 6
Suicide Jumps: 11
Push-up Jacks: 21
Low Plank Oblique: 38

I slacked off for a while. Last doing the program...probably in June. Then I got most of the way through Asylum and hit a rapid succession of sicknesses. I put back on a little of the weight I lost the first go around. The first time I did Insanity I lost 30 pounds. So I am going to see what kind of changes happen this go around.

I also joined some of the Insanity groups...and am attempting to start my own Insanity group on the message boards...but I am not the best recruiter lol. My group is called "Insanity put me in the Asylum." But I also am part of "Insanity Junkies"

I'm on week 5 (actually 6) Month 2 is crazy! Here are 2 suggestions I have: 1) I'm taking one previously mentioned; "take a preview of the workout the day before so you're mentally prepared 2) Shaun T repeats this so much in the video "USE YOUR CORE" its difficult to focus on that part only becuase you're thinking of using your arms, legs, and brain, but if i can go back to day 1 and use most of my strengths using my abs, it not only makes the workout a bit easier but your abs will actually hurt and you'll ask yourself afterwards; "Why if i didnt even do a sit up" thats how good this workout is.

Awesome Moe! Welcome to the group!! Good advice on previewing the videos. Don't be fooled... some don't look too bad such as cardio recovery, but it's tough!

Some advice I can offer.... stretch your calf muscles!!! Land gently!!

My husband and I did the fit test this morning...I am happy to report that I was able to complete the test...I was afraid I would be too out of shape to even get started! Tomorrow morning, the real work begins....!

I am starting on Jan 21, can I still join in? My name is Cat, I'm 28 and ready for a challenge. Got out of the service 2 years ago and left the healthy lifestyle behind with it. As a result, I gained 30 lbs. I started eating right December 26th, 2012 and to date I have lost 12 lbs just be sticking to 1200 calories and drinking 80+ oz of water. To keep up with the weight loss I need to tone.

Hope I can join, I would appreciate the extra support and motivation!

That's great!!! You can do it! Just do the best you can, keep good form, and you WILL see results!! Pay no attention to the scale!!! Take your pictures and your measurements. Those will be the best indicator of progress.

Check out the meal plan. Insanity is a very intense program and you may be surprised that you will have to increase your calories so you have the fuel to get through the workouts. I was at about 1300 calories before and saw some progress with Asylum. I'm now at 2500 calories and thought I would gain weight eating that much. Not true!

Remember to take your before pictures and your measurements at the start!

Day 1 in the bag! Thought I'd post my numbers...nothin to brag about, but I beat Chris's (on the video) original score on the globe jump by 1! I think it was the globe jumps...I'm drenched in sweat, and kinda wobbly in the head but feel so good right now.
So here goes...
Switch kicks - 36
Power Jacks - 28
Power knees - 55
Power jumps - 24
Global jumps - 8
Suicide Jumps - 13
Pushup jacks - 17
Low plank obliques - 15
(Oh I counted 2 switch kicks as 1 rep, and 2 obliques as 1 rep)

Now for some water, and I think a few miles running would do me good emoticon
Oh and Paul, I'm going Army. 30 years old is too much for the Marines, the Air force won't let me fly, and I used to be a fisherman so I know what life at sea is like. So Army it is. and it's a bit of an honor, my father and one of my brothers served as 19D (Cavalry scouts), so it's nice to follow in their footsteps.

Goodjob ya'll, can't wait for tomorrow!
