I'm doing the Insanity workout to strengthen my core muscles and also loose around 12 pounds. I started doing the Insanity Nutritional Plan a week before I began my workouts (Jan07), but I was only doing 1500 calories a day. I ended up losing about 2 pounds, but as soon as I jumped up to my normal caloric needs (2800 minus 500 for weight loss = 2300) I've actually gained the 2 pounds back. Right now I'm staying closer to 2000 calories a day including my recovery drink (Hammer Recoverite - I use that since I'm a endurance cyclist during the season). I'm also drinking about 60-70 oz of water a day.

Anyway my question has more to do with my metabolism. How long does it typically take for someone's metabolism rate to kick into overdrive when doing insanity and the elite nutrition plan? Or should I drop down another 200 calories a day until my metabolism starts to kick in and then slowly add the calories back in? The other option is to just stay the course because this could all be just water weight.

I'm open to any ideas/recommendations you might have.

Hey Scott. I am in the same boat with you. I have been a few times, actually!

I started a Challenge Group of Insanity users on the same day and most are all maintaining their weight this first week. The first few times I have started a program, it usually takes a week or two before it starts falling off of you. 12 pounds will be nothing....

I have a support and Accountability Group if you are interested. A few of us started Insanity at the same time that you did...
