Hello! I am starting up this thread to look for support in fighting off depression/aniexty using fitness and healthy eating. I have dealt with anxiety/depression much of my life. I am currently on medication but, am hoping one day to be off of it. I have turned to fitness to help with healing myself. I started using beachbody products a few years ago and it has helped. What I am trying to do now is combine the exercise with eating clean to not only physically but mentally get into shape!

I am look for men and women who have had similar struggles to share what has worked for them, what has not, etc. I know this can be a sensitive subject but, if we shed light on it, we can get through it together!

Currently I am doing Les Mills Combat and I am working hard to eat clean.

Let's do this!

I am in Week 3 of Combat and so far so good. Exercising is a great way to refocus any negative energy, thoughts you may have and make it something positive. When I am kicking and punching I try to envision that I am kicking and punching any depression and/or anxiety.

I have been doing a lot of research and what you eat plays a big part in controlling depression. So everytime I want to reach for that brownie (that is sitting in my office right now), I remind myself why I am trying to eat well instead of why I can't have it.

Hi -

I use fitness and healthy eating for anxiety/depression, too. It can be tough at times. We can do this!

Thanks Carol! What program are you doing right now? How has healthy eating and fitness helped you.
It is nice to know there are other women (and men) out there how struggle with the same things. Somedays I feel like I have it under control and other days, it gets the better of me.
We have to keep on keeping on :-)

This week I have a few ups and downs but, I have been pushing through and pushing play.

I have struggled the last year & a half with anxiety/depression. I feel best when I'm just getting into my workout to about an hour or two after. I have considered adding a second workout in the afternoons to extend the feeling through out the day. I haven't tried eating clean just exercising. Once exercising becomes a normal part of my daily routine I will then try to improve my diet. Has anyone else wanted to prolong the workout feeling? What do you do?

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner on this.

It wasn't until a few years ago that I realized that exercise helped my anxiety. I go through phases with my workout plan, but it always helps tremendously. Exercising regularly helps me feel so much better. Cardio especially, because it helps me shut my brain off and clear my head. If I'm feeling anxious I try to get to the gym and work it out.
