So.. It's 9PM and your stomach starts growling..
Hi, I just finished my first week of p90x and I've been doing well with the nutrition. I've always been a guy to eat huge portions, and late night snacks about 2 hours before bed. I Haven't been now that I am on a journey for fitness But last night my stomach would not stop growling and I Had already eaten my max meals/calories for the day. I wondering what you do in a situation like this. Thanks for the help.

Drink a glass of water, or have a low calorie snack that won't wreck you. A small apple has about 60 calories and can take the edge off.

Really watch the ratio of what you are eating. My diet used to be horrible. High calorie carbs can leave you having to eat less to keep in your range while you can eat tons of lean protein and most vegetables and keep your calorie count modest. If you know you like to have a light snack at night, save some calories for it in your day. I don't recommend eating a lot right before going to sleep though if you can help it.

You are posting in the Support & Motivation thread, so let me recommend some. I find that being involved with one of the motivation threads really helps keep you focused on your goals. I have one running here:

Take the Road Less Traveled

Feel free to check it out or send me a friend request if you are interested. I'll be 40 in June and decided to get in shape last fall. I'm down almost 30 pounds and feel great.

Keep pushing play and you can hit your goals!

It's not unusual for people's stomach to start talking to them a few weeks into P90X. For me it was about week 3. All of the sudden I was hungry all day. I went a couple days like this but realized I needed to listen to my body. Building muscle is helping your body burn more calories plus you are getting in some cardio to burn more calories. This is where you have to make the decision if the hunger is temporary or your body is telling you it's time up your calories so that I can take care of the recovery process and get you through a workout. I don't know what your nutrition plan is but if you are eating something like 1800 calories I would bump it another 150 or so with a protein shake or low carb/low fat snack. You could try water or low sugar veggies to snack on too.

About 2200.

Start The Day With Egg White Scrambles or a protein shake, recovery/protein bars for snack
Some kind of salad for lunch nuts or a greek yogurt for snack #2 and lean meat/veggies for dinner. Besides the shakes and recovery drinks i only Drink water.

And Thanks to the other two guys for the insight. I'll keep the veggie for snacks in mind.

Chris,

The meal plan seems good to me. You might need more protein for the first month of P90X, about 250 grams, depends of your weight, height and your goals, maybe a little more. You are having about half of that. I know its not easy to get that much protein at the beginning, but it will worth the effort,

The key to your success is 6 meals a day...and make sure the last one is high in protein, low in fat and carb, and that meal is right before bed. That's right, that is the best way to rev up your metabolism!
