Second Round of Insanity ... Weight Gain?
This is my second round of Insanity.

I had wonderful endurance results my first round but not when it came to weight loss because I didn't eat like I should have but when I did eat right, I was able to see the beginnings of abs within a week or two.

I'm on Day 10 and after losing the initial water weight, I gained back a pound or two.

I eat around 2000-2100 a day. I'm 5'10 and 165 as of today. I lost half an inch but once again, the bloat is gone now since I'm eating right this round.

I've read most people gain weight the first month but isn't that because they're not used to the program and their going through DOMS? I'm used to this program. I work harder than I did the first round, of course, but I don't get nearly as sore or anything.

I try to eat as close to 50/25/25 (C/F/P) as I can but lately my fat intake has been higher (through eggs, cheese, etc.). I haven't drank soda in a couple of weeks. I drink coffee, water (at least 12 cups a day), and hot tea.

My meals are usually ham/turkey sandwiches, fruit, vegetables, sweet potatoes, oatmeal, eggs. I keep sweets to a minimum but do eat them at times in order to keep cravings at bay. Just enough to keep away cravings but not so much to give a sugar high.

The weight gain is not only at the start of the 60 or 90 days program, but at any change in the program itself. Like in the phase 2 of P90X you will do somewhat different routines that the phase 1 (1st month), so you will keep some water in the "new used" muscles.. As long as you see progress (inches, intensity) just keep on.

Don't forget to include muscle gain. Obviously it doesn't weigh as much as fat but as you continue doing insanity you will also gain muscle. We all get carried away by the fatty food because they're good but as you have kept trying to cut down, keep cutting down emoticon And like Coach Alberto said, as long as you see the results you know you're doing well emoticon keep at it!

You might be to low on your protien, which is slowing your recovery...this will slow done your muscle growth....this can actually lead to weight gain. I posted a message on boards yesterday describing the importance of post workout recovery food and how it is the MOST important part of a workout program.

Also, make sure your fats a clean fats

I try to supplement with cottage cheese and protein powder but I have been lower than I'd like with protein lately. I try to eat at least half my weight in grams of protein a day though. This week I had anywhere between 96-160 grams per day. I'm waiting for the next grocery shopping day to store up on more high-protein/lower fat foods.

Ah, so even though I've done this before, because my body is used to month 2 of Insanity and is getting re-adjusted to month 1 along with me hitting it harder compared to the first round, I'll still have water retention?

Ah, so even though I've done this before, because my body is used to month 2 of Insanity and is getting re-adjusted to month 1 along with me hitting it harder compared to the first round, I'll still have water retention?


Also water retention can be caused from various other things.....sodium content, high carbs the night before, working out in hot temps.....any workout that you do that is taxing on the nueromuscular system will cause water retention.....stay way form the scale and look at inches lost and drop in Body fat.

Yes, not as much as at the beginning. That's why you should trust blindly the scale. Your weight is always fluctuating.
