Les Mills Combat Week 5...
Les Mills Combat Week 5...
1/11/13 8:33 AM
So I am almost done with Les Mills Combat, Week 5, Ultimate Hybrid. I absolutely freakin love this program!!! I have done 3 Rounds of P90X. P90X Plus, One of P90X2, one of Insanity and one of Body Beast. THis program however has become my favorite of all.

Is anyone else doing it and what are your feelings?

I am one workout away from completing Week 4 of the Ultimate Warrior.. I've done Insanity and Pump and, like you, this is BY FAR, my favorite program of them.. I still do some Pump routines (Extreme or Revolution) on my rest days and I may throw an Insanity in, every once in awhile, but, it's Combat, everyday, all the way!!

A question for all of you: what is it that makes you like Combat so much? Especially if you compare it to P90X, Insanity, Asylum, etc. Is P90X+ Kenpo Cardio+ any comparison?

I had been considering getting Combat, but my work schedule for the next few months means I can't fit in the workouts consistently. I went with Body Beast, instead, because it has shorter workouts. But in the future, my schedule will be more flexible.

Also, do any of you box or kickbox? How does Combat stack up to that? I box regularly (heavy bags, not people) and kickbox a bit; also, I play a ton of tennis.

as stupid as this sounds partial the new zealand accents from dan and rachel..Plus punching and kicking is fun. I do not box or kickbox but I'm a HUGE MMA fan and this is extremely right up that ally. When doing the knees above hips with your hands coming down with them it reminds me of when Anderson Silva knocked out Rich Franklin with the knees. I'm planning on revisting the harder Cardio workouts like Combat 45 and 60 and Combat 60 Live after my 2nd round with Asylum 2 in mid april while lifting with P90x or X2 days.

To me, the cardio is right up there with Insanity.. I think being an Insanity grad enables me to push harder than if I hadn't done it in the past. As BigAl stated, the kicking and punching are just FUN.. I do very little boxing (I have a heavy bag that I was using when I had a knee injury, but haven't touched it since I healed up) and do zero kickboxing, martial arts, etc. (as my kicks in Combat will attest) But, I am a big MMA fan and love to, at least, think I can do some of the stuff I see in MMA. There are also some decent upper body/lower body specific workouts that will get you too. (If you purchase the Ultimate package) Since it came out, I have only run across one person that wasn't happy with the program. They were confused at the moves and hadn't put in the effort to learn them yet. They were about to send it back and we talked them into keeping it for another week to get used to it.. No other person I have dealt with has had anything negative to say about the entire program.
