Pulled muscle during cool down (Pure Cardio)
when cooling down from my pure cardio workout I was doing the deep lunge to the right (left leg out straight) and noticed that everyone had their right foot flat on the floor. I was pretty much up on my toe with my heal off the ground, so I decided to do it the same way. When I did I must have had my leg out too far or sat too deep into the stretch and bamo....pulled muscle on the inside of my left between my leg groin and knee.

I completed the cool down and immediately came upstairs to ice it down. I was thinking it wasn't too bad, but I went outside to help my wife clean up the Christmas lights it kept going into spasms. I couldn't even lift my leg up to pull my shoe off and when I tried to pull my foot out of the shoe I cannot even do that without intense pain.

I have the feeling I pulled worse than originally anticipated. I took a few advil, but is there anything else I can do? I know RICE is the way to go, but rest with Insanity is not allowed for me to meet my goals . I have the feeling I might have ruined my workout less than a week into the program. I gotta figure out a way to continue, but I cannot do it and risk further injury.

Bugger!

That sounds like you've pulled/strained it pretty good. Do you have a sports clinic in your area that you can visit tomorrow? I think I'd get it checked out by a doctor at any rate, as they'd definitely be able to help you with proper diagnosis and treatment. And RICE is a good option for now.

That is what I thought too. I'm going to use my off day today and see if I can resume the workouts on Sunday or Monday. It is better today but there is no way I can do my workout. Getting old stinks!

I hear ya! Although I keep telling myself that I'm still only 25, haha.

That is a definite bummer.

But just don't rush back into the workout. Get it checked out and see what the diagnosis is. You don't want to rush back into and permanently hurt yourself. It is better to take care of the injury now and let it heal to the fullest than get back into and go for your goals again!
