Gaining Weight on P90X
p90x protein diet fat shoulders gaining weight gain weight oatmeal fail 90 day of p90x gorilla green apples wet suit

I finished P90X twice and have gained weight twice! I have alot more muscle each round but my original goal was to fit into my surfing wet suit. However since I've been doing P90X my shoulders and arms wont go through the sleeves and I look more like a bulky gym gorilla than a fit, tone, Tony Horton. What am I doing wrong? I don't want to get bigger i want to lose fat! I am a male 5/11 223lb. I eat alot of oatmeal, green apples, and one protein shake a day.

Everyone's body is different and is affected by workout programs differently. I've seen many different "after" photos on here and have seen many different shapes and sizes. Some people stay lean but have ultra toned muscles without any kind of bulk. Others bulk up a bit, but end up looking overall fit and chiseled like Tony. Others I've seen gain a lot of bulky muscle, giving them a noticeable size difference - you may fit into this category. Some people just gain muscle all over with these kinds of workouts, and continuing to do the same workout will continue to add to that size (up to a point). Have you tried staying in the 12-15 rep range to maintain lean muscle? Or have you been doing 8-10 reps, which will bulk you up.

If you still have fat to lose you may want to try a HIIT program like Insanity. That kind of program won't bulk you up because there's no heavy resistance training. Another alternative is that you're not eating the right things, and while you're adding muscle you could be maintaining body fat levels or increasing them. Have you been following the nutrition guide? When you mention that you eat a lot of oatmeal my first thought is that you may be taking in too many carbs.

All depends on diet and body makeup. Are you gaining fat or just muscle? Did you eat alot of calories or go into a calorie deficit? There are alot of factors as to why you gained weight. Most likely diet! If you need help with that i can definitely help you with that!
