I'll get things started. I am Rebecca, a Beachbody Coach and all around Beachbody addict. Beachbody changed my life. My motivating factor for creating this thread on the message boards is to help others achieve success and feel great too!

I started my journey with P90X in January 2010 and have not looked back since! P90X Plus, Hip Hop Abs, Yoga Booty Ballet, Turbo Jam, Turbo Fire, Brazil Butt Lift, P90X2, Insanity, and Insanity Asylum were soon to follow.

Working full time at a desk, being a wife and mother of a fantastic 6 year old boy, finding the time to work out became a quick priority as the energy and happiness took over my life! I lost 45 pounds doing Beachbody workouts and live in fear of seeing them come back! Clean eating and working out are now the way I live my life and 2 years later I could not believe in what Beachbody promotes any more than do because I am living proof.

I became a Beachbody Coach and am actively working to share and build a team to join this journey of health and fitness with me.

My Number One Goal is to maintain my results. I want to explore varieties of clean nutrition including daily Shakeology; Fitness programs for 2013: Asylum 2 starting in February, then Les Mills Combat, followed by Ultimate Reset and Tai Cheng.

Hi, Rebecca. I've been going through the teambeachbody.com website and am overwhelmed at all the information! Your post caught my eye for two reasons: first, you posted on the same day as my first P90X workout, and I need some guidance and motivation to get through the next 89 days! Secondly, I'm a 42 year old mother of two, and I think I'd be best motivated by someone closer to my age. I'd like to shed about 20 pounds that I've collected over the past 10 year and get stronger.

So, can you help me get through this :-)? I have to confess that I did the chest & back and ab ripper x this morning, and I could hardly get through it. I did what I could, but it was tough! I could only do about 1/2 of the exercises well, and then I could only do a few of that 1/2! Please tell me this gets easier and that, eventually, I'll be able to do a pull up on my own, or a military push up, or etc, etc!

I'm trying to change my eating habits, but I haven't purchased the Shakeology as of yet. What supplements do I absolutely NEED to get good results? I'd really love your advice and motivation.

Mariella

Hello Mariella!

You have come to the right place. I was 42 when I started P90X too and had that accumulated weight to lose. Chest and Shoulders is hard! I started with the Lean Program of P90X and eventually switched over to the Classic and then tried the Doubles as a I progressed. I am not sure how I would have felt starting out on Chest and Shoulders (I modify it still and can breeze through it in 1/2 hour), probably the way you feel right now! Just remember to modify and do what you can. I use a band for the pull-ups and have weak wrists, but am truly blown away at how many push ups I can do!

It does get easier and you will be sore. It is meant to be challenging, which I think is part of the addiction. You have constant room to improve. Give yourself a couple weeks to get through the soreness, and you will see results and be amazed!

Are you following the P90X Nutrition Plan? I was religious about it that first month, and modified certain things where I needed. It really teaches you how to eat and gives good recipes as well. Are you a Team Beachbody Club Member? There are great meal plans once you join the Club if you are ready to take that step. Doing P90X you will be hungry! Protein is key. I first started with getting Protein Powder and adding it to smoothies and other food as recommended. Lean protein and hydration are very important!

I do love the P90X Results and Recovery Drink. I did not try it right away, but cannot do without it now. Shakeology is pretty awesome to add into a clean diet as the nutrients are great for your body.

In sum, I recommend following the P90X nutrition guide, and then listen to your body as to what you may need to add. Protein Powder, some sort of good vitamin supplement (whether a multi-vitamin or Shakeology) and Results and Recovery.

I am very excited you posted. Please let me know what I can do to help! Stick with it, don't get discouraged, I promise you it IS worth it!

Accountability: Did 1/2 P90X Yoga this morning. Plan to finish the other half this afternoon. I love how you can break it up into 2 portions, it is long! I was actually able to do half moon and twisting half moon with no breaks today. That was a first! I think doing some Brazil Butt Lift and P90X2 really helped my legs and stability.

I learned early on in P90X I needed to do the Yoga on a weekend (or non work day). I need and love the Yoga, but it makes me feel like a noodle! Sunday is my favorite day to do it and I can do it in my jamis (which I am still in by the way). emoticon

Shakeology Report: Received my first shipment of the New Chocolate Shakeology yesterday and am enjoying that right now too. It is good! Chocolatey and no grittiness or sludge! Very good stuff! Just did it with water and ice cubes. I think I had been trying to add too much to the Shakeology and was either not liking it or adding too many calories. Water and Ice are fine with the Chocolate Vegan and New Chocolate, still need a banana or something else with the Tropical.

Time to get out of jamis and go to lunch with the family. They like Yard House and I am still struggling with finding a great dish to fit with my nutrition desires. I shall keep up my search today! :grin

Mariella - I just remembered another thing I did when first starting P90X and that was to treat myself to a massage every week or 2. It had been a long time since I had done any serious workout, so not only was the massage my treat for working out, it was really helpful in working out those kinks!

Love playing around with the old favorites! Today - Insanity Asylum Vertical Plyometrics: needed a good sweat this morning and got it! Good way to start the week with a short (40 minutes) and intense workout. Love Shaun's "Focus and Go" for the Monday morning! Bad wrist, so will not jump on them, but make do with the rest! Good kick off for the week.

P90X2 PAP

Late to post today. Today was just a little off all day! Having issues getting back to routine after the holiday, woke up thinking my alarm was Chalene telling me it was time for another PUSH goal. I've got issues. emoticon

So woke up late and only got half way through P90X2 PAP Lower. Can I tell you I love this workout? Anyway, was still late to drop off my son at school! Just an off day, but I felt great so went about the day. I am a train wreck working out at night, so putting off the other half to tomorrow morning, think I will do a Turbo Fire HIIT with it, and move Asylum Speed and Agility to Thursday. Then off to Michigan for 4 days. Will bring some Yoga and Stretch, and maybe even BBL, and hope to be able to get outside a bit!

So my husband JUST NOW informs me I am again on drop off duty for my child, again, tomorrow. Must wake up early to get this done! And laundry! Only for Chalene and Tony! and Shaun T but it is not his day tomorrow - or perhaps another shift in routine back to the planned Speed and Agility, hmmm. Love having choices!

Oh, still doing good at my daily Shakeology. Water is key. It is beginning to remind when people kept telling me to try coffee with sugar or cream and I did not like it, then I just had it black and was hooked. Same here for Shakeology, water and ice, I am a happy camper!

Soooo, I have been a complete sleepy head lately! I am not sure if it is the cold outside, or just trying to get back into routine mode after the holidays, I completely overslept yesterday. This is sooo not like me! I felt great though, got my massage, ahhh, drank my ShakeO and got back on that horse this morning! Did Asylum Speed and Agility, then the rest of PAP Lower. I am pretty amazed that I have kept my cardio up particularly after the crud that went through my house over the holidays, so am looking forward to starting Asylum II sooner rather than later. Anyone want to join me?

I am off to Michigan to visit my family so may not be posting for a few days. Hoping to get outside and go skate and sled. Taking P90X Yoga, BBL and some Turbo Fire with me. We will see how that goes on the road!

Push Play or Just Go Play! In any event have a great weekend!

Back from Michigan and ready to get moving! It was too cold to do anything there - 6 year old in tow, 80 year old mother, in the house for way too much time! Drank my ShakeO and got some Yoga and AbX in - besides that I feel flabby!

So ready to action - am attempting 2 workouts each day to make up for lost time. I was stiff in MI from not working out, and am now a GOOD stiff from pushing it hard! Wed, P90X Core Synergistics and Turbo Fire Hiit 20, Thur, P90X2 Plyocide and High and Tight Brazil Butt Lift, and today Turbo Fire Hiit 25 and 1/2 of P90X2 Total Body (ran out of time!).

Tomorrow P90X2 Yoga and then a day on slopes on Sunday! Woot hoo!

What are you doing to keep moving and motivated?

Yoga Day!

1/26/13 9:44 AM as a reply to BeattieFit.
P90X2 Yoga, love it! Trying to work out my stiffness for a ski day tomorrow! Recently read an article by Tony Horton about how he works out to go ski hard, so I plan to follow his inspiration. He's the man.

Starting Asylum 2 on Monday. It is time to stop messing around and start a scheduled program. Am actually contemplating before and after pictures with this one. We will see!

Have a relatively easy schedule with the family this week so off to shop today and see what tasty healthy concoctions I can come up with to fuel the fire and cook for the family this week. Looking forward to hunkering down and get back into a routine of life.

Also contemplating going completely wheat free. My body does not tolerate white flour, so bought the book Wheat Belly to check out the recipes and love the no wheat argument so may give that a whirl. Now hopefully I can find Garbanzo Bean Flour, Almond Meal and some other crazy ingredients they have in the cook book.

So I am off to go find healthy kitchen items! Enjoy your weekend!

Asylum 2 - Day One
stiff muscles skiing asylum day 1 asylum 2 x trainer
1/28/13 6:53 AM as a reply to BeattieFit.
Good Morning!

Stiff legs from skiing did not keep me from starting Asylum 2! I have figured out that when I don't work out, I get very stiff now, and stiffness from working out itself, really gets better if you workout and keep up the stretches. My "time off" from working out in MI caught up with me yesterday, yet I did ski harder and stronger than ever!

X Trainer is good, I can't wait to see the rest of the workouts. I really need to work on the push-ups, as always, I have weak wrists so working on modifications because I really want that strong, strong core. I use push up stands which does really help, just pushing through that can't to figure how to!

What are you doing this week to be healthy?

Asylum 2 - Day 2 - Upper Elite

1/29/13 7:25 AM as a reply to BeattieFit.
Upper Elite, loved it! I am a cardio freak but love how I feel and look with weight training - this workout was great because Shawn gives you some cardio too, bonus! Sooo much faster than P90s so will take some getting used to - plus so many Push Ups, but I am working it all out and can feel that Core as I tend to stay in plank at times - Shawn T gives great advise on modifications!

Can't wait for tomorrow! Power Legs! All over it!

Now for my Shakeology cookie! Family favorite emoticon

• 1 cup natural peanut butter or almond butter
• 1 cup quick cooking oats
• ½ cup honey
• 1 cup Chocolate Shakeology

Preparation:
1. Combine peanut butter, honey, oats and Shakeology in medium bowl. Mix well.
2. Roll 24 balls, each the size of 1 tbsp.
3. Flatten each slightly so takes on the shape of a traditional cookie.
