Have you actually read "The Book of Beast?" It says in there that the optimum time for working out per day is 30-60 minutes.
If you can come away from a Body Beast workout and get right into P90X, you didn't push hard enough, and the same goes for P90X to Body Beast. You should be fried by the end of either. Sure we all get more fit the more we do these; I've done 10 rounds of P90X, etc. and am in my 2nd round of Body Beast. I can that after I destroy Bulk Chest, or Arms, I don't want to touch a weight again. I've been trying to do doubles with Combat, and even cardio sometimes is hard after the grueling workout of keeping on pace with Sagi.
If you want to get more cut, that's 100% in your nutrition. Either program will do it, but as you said, Body Beast generally focuses on the bulking rather than cutting. In my 2nd round now I'm maintaining my weight, but staying in my "Beast Phase" calorie intake of 2200 per day, and leaning out like crazy. My pics below are from day 1, day 90, and now 3 weeks into my 2nd Round Bulk Phase and keeping a slight calorie deficit. By the end of this 90 days I expect to be back to 6% body fat and maintain 147 lbs where I am now.
My opinion is this: More is not better. Work smarter, get your nutrition 100%, and you can maintain the muscle gain while getting cut without having to try to do doubles and end up overtraining.
