Hello, Everybody!
I am currently at Day 3 (P90X) and my body hurts SO MUCH,.... As per the program schedule, today I should do SHOULDERS & ARMS, plus AB RIPPER X but I feel like I can barely walk or move my arms... What I should do instead (or should I take a break, as my body seems to be so madly shouting at me!)?

Any suggestions on how to survive this terrible long Day 3?

Hey Renata,

So I am not a professional or anything but I had the same problem as you last time I started P90X. I would be so sore after the workouts that I could barely get out of bed and down the stairs... much less do my next workout. I have a really good friend that is a professional body builder and I asked him what I could do so that I could be not so sore. He told me to take calcium and magnesium vitamins (CAL-MAG) and to get a can of 100% Glutamine Powder. So just wishing that i could walk and wash my hair without pain I went and bought all of them online at Walmart.com...

I am not even lying I have not been sore 1 day this go around. Then, my husband was complaining of being sore because he was doing p90x with me but not taking my supplements, and then I gave him the same stuff I am taking and he felt fine the next day! SO I think you should try it. Good luck! =)

If you are that sore, DO take that extra day to recover. Perhaps work in the X Stretch video to work some of it out.

I drink a whey protein shake within an hour of completing my workout and that helps with soreness. Shakeology and Results & Recovery are products that have benefit in this regard when consumed shortly after a workout. I haven't personally tested it, but I'm told good old fashioned chocolate milk will help too.

Make sure you really go through the pre-post workout stretching.

I also will sometimes use Tiger Balm Liniment Oil to help soothe aching muscles.

The only thing I can think of other than just listening to your body and recovering is to make sure you are hydrating A LOT. More than you think you need. Your body might not be used to this type of workout (i dont know), but for a lot of people it takes those first couple of workouts before they realize they need to take care of their bodies before, during and after a workout. Hello!

I had the same problem...but I was supposed to be on day four-yesterday....I hurt so bad I couldn't even move my arms. So I took the day off and resumed today. I'm on the P90x lean workout and if I have to take an extra day off will this really hinder progress?

Hello, All!

Just a quick feedback on my P90X schedule so far... Despite the terrible soreness, I decided to stick to the program and keep pushing the play button. The first movements were really terrible but I could feel they were gradually improving while I repeat the mantra "it is bad, but it is good..."

By the end of the ARMS/SHOUDER session, I was feeling really fine (not that all the pain was completely gone, but I could do movements I could barely think of by the beginning of the day!). This was soo rewarding!

The AB RIPPER was a little harder than that (probably because it involved the same muscles worked on Day 1), but the feeling I got from the previous session gave me the strength to keep pushing play. I can say that in Day 3, it went from extremelly painful to extremelly surprised... Just keep pushing the play button.

Renata do not worry all this soreness will go away after the first 2 weeks. Little advise drink a lot of water, sleep well and take your recovery drink post-workout, this will help reduce the soreness.
