I'm 28 years old, 5'2" and weigh 130lbs. I've finally committed to doing P90X Classic. In May I'll be hiking/backpacking the Kalalau Trail, Kauai. It's a 11 mile hike one way, and it's gonna be hot and humid (I'm from Canada). I've done lots of hiking/backpacking in the mountains in Canada, but I really want to be in great shape for Kalalau. Me and my boyfriend are a week into p90x and its going great! I have one concern, I do want to lose weight and gain strength (so I can be a better pack horse

), but if I'm doing weight training will I gain muscle under my pre-existing fat layer and look even chubbier? I want to be stronger but I don't want to "bulk up". I'm also strictly counting calories (cant go over 1200) and eating balanced meals. At the end of the day I've taken in anywhere from 1000 - 1200 calories then minus the additional calories I've burned with p90x workouts. Will this make me successful to lose the weight I want and gain the strength or is there something else I should be incorporating to achieve this?
Thanks! Look forward to some feedback!
