Welcome!! I’m Coach Tom Abner and I want to help everyone achieve the best results possible. It doesn’t matter if you’re a newbie or veteran, everyone is invited to join…please do. I'm doing my 2nd round of Insanity right now (actually a P90X/Insanity hybrid), but if you are doing something else, thats fine too. I think the biggest factor in my success with these programs has been getting involved in a message board like this. That’s why I started this thread.

If you join this thread you will:
1) Get accountability. We'il support each other..and keep each other accountable.
2) Be motivated in many ways.
3) Get all the information that you need to succeed. I'll make sure questions are answered promptly.
4) Make friends
5) Have some laughs

Are you looking for accountability, motivation, and information?

Are you ready to bring it?!

Are you looking for a coach that will be responsive and dedicated?

Are you looking for an active, energetic, and supportive group of people to help keep you on track?

If so, then you’ve found the right thread. Giddy Up!!!!

Just reply to the thread and introduce yourself. Once you do that scroll up to the top of the thread and click “subscribe” in the upper right corner of this first post. Then read the next 2 posts below. They have some great information to get you started. Most importantly, come back and post your accountability every day. I explain more about that in the next post. That’s it…lets do this!

For anyone that’s new, welcome to the thread and thanks for joining!!! We’ll keep you motivated, accountable, and energized.

One thing that I really, really want you to do its to post your accountability every day. This includes at least quick note on your workout(s) and nutrition for the day. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO KEEPING YOU MOTIVATED. Trust me on this and just commit to doing it for at least the first week.

It would be great if you could also do a few things to help us get to know you a little better:
1) Upload a profile picture. This is in your TeamBeachbody.com profile.
2) Sign your post with your real name
3) Tell us who you are
4) Tell us why are you doing this workout program and join this thread
5) What do you hope to get out of this round?

Please add me as a buddy so I can send you some more information to help you get started.

For newbies and returning members, PLEASE welcome people to the thread as they join. This is a key to getting them motivated and ramped up quickly. I appreciate you doing this.

OK…Here are some initial tips to help you get going …

Keep Track:
- Do the fit test. You will glad you did and sorry if you don’t. You will get really motivated by seeing progress. It will also create accountability.
- TAKE BEFORE AND AFTER PICTURES. I know it may be embarrassing or might feel uncomfortable. You will be sorry if you don’t do it anyway. Do it every 30 days
- Take your measurements every 30 days and especially at the start
- Write down all your exercises, reps, and notes. The programs come with worksheets to do this. Use them!!! Again, its extremely motivating to see your progress and it inspires you to do better each workout. Its important!

The TeamBeachbody web site has a bunch of great tools to help with this. Take advantage of them! Enter all the info above in your profile and it will track it for you.

I also recommend MyFitnessPal for managing and tracking your calorie intake. There a web page and mobile app for iPhone, Andriod, and Blackberry. Sign up and add me as a buddy. My ID is tabner2012. Then you can see my food and exercise diary. That may give you some ideas for your daily menus.

Nutrition: There’s a quote taped on my refrigerator that says “Why work so hard in the gym to waste it on a bad diet”. It’s the truth. You won’t get great results with a bad diet. I can help you with as much detail as you want. For now I’ll say:

- Check your program’s nutrition guide for the ratio of macros (Carbs/protein/fat). I stick with a 40/40/20 split
- Stay away from sugars as much as you can
- The fewer ingredients the better. Keep refined and processed food to a minimum
- Eat 5-6 times per day
- Drink lots, and lots, and lots of WATER
- Make sure you know roughly how many calories you need each day and be sure to get them. If you don’t have the fuel you need you will struggle with the workouts and lose motivation. The amount you need will change depending on your activity level each day. Make sure you get enough. Not eating enough is a common mistake that leads to bad results. BTW…MyFitnessPal makes adjustments for you automatically.
- Shakeology is a great way to get a ton of nutrition in one meal. You would have to eat a whole lot of veggies and fruit to get what one shake gives you. It also has plenty of protein. You can use it as a snack or meal replacement (low calorie). I have one every day and consider it a replacement for a muti-vitamin.

Pre-Workout: The workouts are intense. Don’t eat any less than an hour before your workout. I recommend a pre-workout snack/supplement of some sort before you work out. I like to use a formula/supplement designed specifically for pre-workout boost. The do make a difference

Post-Workout: Its extrememly important to have a recovery drink within 20 minutes after your workout. This is CRITICAL. You need to replace the glycogen you burned up, prevent muscle breakdown, and start the recovery process immediately after a workout. There’s a ton of science supporting this. There are a few options. The P90X Resulst and Recovery is great and I recommend it.

Accountability: As I said in the second post of this thread, post your accountability on this thread DAILY! This is absolutely key to keeping you motivated and consistent. You’ll meet others that are going through exactly what you are and it helps stay accountable and inspired! Your forum buddies will have tips and information that has helped them and could help you as well. You will be doing the same in no time!

So, ready to get started? First step, post your commitment to join the team, and second, add me as a buddy and I'll give you more important information. I can drill into any of the stuff above in more detail. I really want to help people succeed and look forward to getting to know you and seeing the new you!

GET UP AND BRING IT!!

Alright, I'll kick things off with my accountability for today...

Accountability: This morning I did Insanity Cardio Recovery and an easy run on tread mill to burn 806 calories. The I did P90X Shoulders and Arms for another 507 calories. So my total burn was 1313 calories. Giddy up!

Nutrition: I ate lean and clean today. I'm still in my rapid loss week so I only took in 1746 calories. Its all in MyFitnessPal.com.

I'm really liking the P90X/Insanity hybrid again. I'm hoping I get similar results to the last round. Then I'll be ready for the Great Wolf Lodge trip in 5 weeks.

Keep digger deeper and bringing it people!

Looking great Coach Tom. No doubt you will lead the thirsty to water, the skinny to bulk, the heavy to lean, and the unhealthy to healthy.

Rise from the ashes and push play.

Hey coach! Great new thread!!!
So I am beginning week four of my second round of insanity. Accountability for today... Knew I had some family stuff to do today, but made sure I carved out time to get pure cardio done. First couple of minutes of the workout were tough...there were a million other things I would have rather been doing, but then I realized I needed to focus and give the workout all my energy and felt like I really knocked it out if the park after that!

Nutrition was pretty good today aside from starting out the day with an m&m cookie at church...lol. After we got home my brunch/lunch was an egg white omelet with a little bit of ham, mushrooms, spinach, and a little bit of cheese with a scoop of peach Greek yogurt. For dinner I had a half cup of veggie penne pasta with marinara sauce and 3 small turkey meatballs. I also had a spring green salad with light raspberry vinegrette dressing with almonds and dried cranberries. After dinner I packed my meals for tomorrow. Left over spaghetti and meatballs and a salad for lunch, cottage cheese with peaches for a snack, and Greek yogurt and a clementine for another snack. I feel confident that I'm headed into the next week with a plan to be successful...have all my dinners planned out for the week:
Monday turkey bacon blts
Tuesday glazed salmon and green beans
Wednesday homemade BBQ pork chops
Thursday beef and broccoli
Friday spinach and mushroom pizza (2 slices are only 280 calories!)

I'm onboard Coach. Cardio Plyo this morning and a 7 mile run tonight. Looking forward to giving the legs a day off tomorrow. Nutrition has been OK.

Hello All!!

Wow so its been a while! Sorry I have not been updating as often as I should but I will say I have been working out. My schedule has gotten a bit longer than intended but I am hoping to finish Insanity by the first week of February. As soon as thats done I'll be starting Les Mills Combat.

Anyway since I went two weeks without working out while I was traveling (tried it but was to be honest not motivated while on vacation) I decided to restart week 2. Just finished that and now will begin week three with some awesome fit test results.

Fit Test:

Switch Kicks: 52/59/55/65
Power Jacks: 60/61/62/65
Power Knees: 70/100/110/125
Power Jumps: 30/50/56/60
Globe Jumps: 9/12/12/13
Suicide Jumps: 16/20/23/24
Push-Up Jacks: 17/27/30/36
Low Plank Oblique: 25/50/65/70

Really pushed (think I overdid it a bit as my body has been screaming at me for two days) but I am happy with the results. AND...I went to a party over the weekend and my friends said I had a great body and a nice butt XD. So happy to hear it! Now they want to join me in Insanity. We are going to rent a room in our town hall place and do it there. Also a friend of mine told me he bought a copy after I told him about it. Spreading TBB out all over Japan

Ok have some E&E pumping through my veins so off to do Max Interval Circuit. Will be posting pictures soon!

Have a good night/day everybody!!

~Alex~

Sorry just posted this at the other thread! Will be using this one from now on too!

Happy Monday everyone!! I'm checking in before my morning workout. Today is an official holiday at work so I'm able to run a little late today.

Its Motivational Monday so please post your motivational quotes, pics, etc.

Angie - I often say that some of my best workouts have come on days when I struggled to get started. Way to push!

That omelette sounds GOOOOOD! My amazing wife cooked up all my staples for the week. I don;yt have aset menu planned as detailed as you though. Thats some serious organization. We just make up a bunch of stuff and put meals together from it on the fly.

John - 7 miles and Cardio Plyo is a big night! Way to bring it!

Alex - Its good to hear from you again! I'm glad to hear that you've been sticking to the program. Great job. Those are amazing fit test numbers. You beat my last test...but I'm comin' to get ya. emoticon Its simply awesome when you get complements like that isn't it? Congrats!

Okay...I'm using C4 for my pre-workout booster for a little while and I can feel it kicking in. I'm off to Pure cardio land and will se you on the other side. emoticon

Coach Tom

Oh...and I'm gonna do something a little different for my Monday Motivation this week....

Hello Coach Tom,

My name is Dave, though i go by Hendu, This looks like a great time to join this thread, when it is new and just starting out. I have completed P90X and recently INSANITY. I am currently doing a combined workout of LES MILLS COMBAT and REV ABS.

I use to be part of another thread but they were a bunch of Crazy people. They would constantly be trying to uplift, motivate and support each other. You know stuff that is really against human nature. I am hoping i can ditch those disurbed people and find a comfortable home here where it is all about....oh well, who's kidding who. I am back in it, hoping that we all can build a great "new" group of people.

We sure had fun on the other thread but it was time to grow and breathe new life into our process. I KNOW this thread will be successful, as i KNOW everyone on it, as long as they committ and participate, will have a great journey through whatever BB program they are doing.

Angie...you have my mouth watering
John, yah i think after today a rest day can work..yesterday SUCKED (you know what i am saying)
Alex..nice to hear from you and that you are rallying the Far East crew. it is fantastic that you are working out as a group, that will be sOOooo motivating. you are way behind in food picture posts to me though
Veneise, beer sweats good...its like a open keg and keeps on flowing. Hope girls night was worth it emoticon

My update will come later..on the books for today is LMC extreme 60 and RA Total strenght & mercy abs. Somewhere in there has to be 180 secs of plank work too..(damn challenge is getting tough)

Anyway people, have a great one and EXPECT TO SWEAT!!!If your not in a pool by the end...you aint pushin hard enough

Later

Good Monday Morning...

Today is my rest day, but looking out the window this morning, I think I will be shoveling snow...I am ok with that...

This weekend was my best weekend of eating clean, usually I struggle on the weekends, but I am really trying to eat better this new year!!!

Have a great day!

Good Morning!!

This was a productive week, I worked out EVERY SINGLE DAY =) that like never happens. I am so much enjoying weight training and running but I do kind of miss insanity. It just works better with my schedule to leave earlier to go to the gym or go after work and avoid traffic. I have the sudden urge to do boxing or kickboxing so I'm looking into that.

Its been over a month since I stopped insanity and i've maintained my weight. Yay!! I'm going to really refocus on eating healthy after I go grocery shopping tonight and hopefully shed a few more pounds.

Keep up the good work everyone!!

WOW! I was reminded of how intense Pure Cardio is. How sson we forget. emoticon But I was really happy that I was WAY better than my first round. I burned 585 calories with AvgHR: 158 (88%), MaxHR: 172 (96%). GiddyUp!

Hendu: You're a nut job brother. emoticon I LOVE that quote and am certainly going to borrow it. Thanks!

Renee: Enjoy the day off. Congrats on the weekend of success. I did well too; especiallly yesterday. I love it when I wake up knowing I did so well. That's the shizzle!

Nicole: Way to stay consistent girl! Hey, if what you're doing is working then its working. A program that fits into your lifestyle and that you enjoy is a ticket to results. Keep it up!

Later taters,

Good Morning, ya'll!

Looks like my ankle is going to be good to go today. Whether it is or it isn't no longer matters. Since I had doubled up for a week, I am back to being on schedule for LMC. Going to start RevAbs today as my supplemental. Still not going to run, but such is life.

Like the new thread.

Team Phoenix is a great idea as that was already my mission for this year, so alignment is perfect.

Giddy up!

Sculpt 3-4 done for today. 350 calories - almost feels like an off day.

Stephen, welcome back. Those injuries can be a bear, but best to wait until you're ready until you resume activity.

Nicole, I've watched the tough mudder video (on their website) like 15 times in the past three days. It's got me all excited and should keep me focused and on track.

Enjoy the day off,

John
