Combat Gloves

Can we wash the combat gloves in the washer & dryer??? Mine are starting to stink from all the sweaty days of use. I'm guessing we can put in washer & not dryer. I wanted confirmation- or what have you guys done to combat the smell? emoticon

Thanks!

I think the instruction paper that came with mine said not to put in washer and dryer. You could probably hand wash them and let them air dry. Hopefully someone sles will have some cleaning tips.

I've taught kickboxing for a few years now and used the same type of gloves they use in combat. I tell my students the best thing to do, and what I have found helpful is to take some rubbing alcohol and get a paper towel wet and put in inside the glove and wipe it out. Not only will it get rid of the smell but it will also disinfect the gloves as well without damaging the glove. I've been using this trick for several years and never had a problem. Good luck. Hope this helps.

Or you could just tell people: "That's the smell of success." emoticon

Actually, we just hand wash in the sink with shampoo or hand soap and let them air dry..
Quick and simple..

I agree with the alcohol trick. it works like a charm. I fill a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol or vodka and use that on my gloves every few days.

I've attended a few Muay Thai classes in different gyms over the past year (as its something I'm looking to get into in the future). They use the rubbing alcohol + paper towel and/or hand towel trick too in most of them. That seems staple to clean boxing and/or MMA gloves using that method.

I'd stick with the rubbing alcohol..the vodka might not make it to the gloves! emoticon

I have 2 spray bottles. 1 sprays the rubbing alcohol on my gloves and hockey equipment. The other spray bottle I take out the sprayer and dump the vodka in my mouth emoticon

Yep! Rubbing Alcohol and a Paper Towel, I find is the best and easiest way to get the job done. Mainly, rubbing alcohol evaporates extremely quickly, so you can use them 5 minutes later...so long you didn't dunk it in the stuff haha. If you are in a pinch and don't have any, you can get plastic bag (i.e. grocery, ziploc, or even a paper bag) and put them in the freezer over night. OR! if it gets below freezing where you live, you can leave them outside over night as well. (Does wonders for shoes lol) That has worked for me in the past, killing all the germs and odor causing bacteria. If you are not keen to that, mouthwash can work too! emoticon

I like the shampoo idea, I will have to give that a try. Smell all purdy n stuff hehe

so what are the benefit of the gloves? I am contemplating getting a pair but wondering what they are really good for other than feeling bad ass wearing them.

Dan says that they make him squeeze his fist more and punch harder. They do for me too. I punch a little harder and get into it more. It might just be a little mental. emoticon

I've actually thrown them in the washer with my regular clothes, and they seem to be holding up okay. I've done this two times now. I do not put them in the dryer, I let them air dry. They smell great now! emoticon

THANKS FOR ALL THE INPUT! emoticon
