Insanity/P90X Guy Trying out TF
Showing 11 results.
Hi everyone. I am guy that has been doing Insanity and P90X and studying to become an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer. I am starting Turbo Fire tomorrow, Jan 23, so that I can better answer questions when friends ask me about the program.

If anyone else is new to Turbo Fire I would love to connect and talk about the program. Feel free to look for me in WOWY and good luck in your fitness and health journeys.

Good Luck Patrick. I'm in week 10 and loving it. Just ordered my advanced dvd's so I can do the 20 week program. I have done insanity and p90x twice. I miss the strength stuff so I try to throw in a p90x day when ever I can. I also recommend the weighted gloves for extra upper body work.

Thanks Wendy. I am hoping to use TF to ramp up some fat burn and plan on adding some P90X for strength in evenings.

Hi!

I just completed p90x (through the holidays so I'm really proud of myself emoticon and started TF on Sunday. I am really starting to love it but I will put out there that its VERY fast paced dancey and personally speaking I felt a little silly and awkward when I started. after perusing the forums and talking to friends who have completed the series I learned that week one is a pretty sharp learning curve and you may find yourself standing in your living room feeling completely lost. Hang in there! I'm finally beginning to get the hang of these moves and boy oh boy is it fun! My husband plans to try it when he is done with Chalean extreme.

Can't wait to hear your perspective.

Elizabeth,
Hi and thank you for your perspective. Coming from Insanity and then p90x and then both back and forth with various hybrids I completely understand that viewpoint. I am doing the Fire Starter program to learn the moves better but still found myself looking at the tv while moving and thinking to myself 'what the heck are you doing Chalene?', LOL. But I will say that I enjoyed it and can definitely see where it is going to help me shed some lbs and reduce my bodyfat. I am looking forward to learning it and enjoying it but I know it will take me some time to get it all down. Heck, maybe it will help me even be more comfortable dancing (which my gf will appreciate haha).

As a coach I wanted to experience it so I can better help my friends when they ask me about various programs.

I look forward to chatting with you here and sharing perspectives if you don't mind continuing to give me your opinions. Oh, and CONGRATS on finishing p90x. I love Tony and I listen to Chalene's Car Smart program on my commute to/from work each day.

Have a great evening!

Two days down and I am enjoying Turbo Fire a lot...even though Chalene and her team have shown me how utterly uncoordinated I am, hahaha.

Seriously though I can really tell how this will help my core with the way these movements all incorporate core action.

This along with my clean eating should really help me start working on reducing my bodyfat to where I would like to get it.

Anyone else new to Turbo Fire? If so, please tell me how you are doing? I love hearing how others' workouts are going.

Have a great day!

Patrick

Hope some other people respond as well. I'm curious if anyone else is on the beginning weeks.
I'm posting because I just completed week 1 and I really feel like I get what I'm doing now, which is another way of saying it's getting much more challenging since I understand how to do the moves and am not constantly stopping. I did my first HIIT workout and it really showed how far I have to go with cardio-endurance. I did my best and managed to keep up but halfway through I was huffing and puffing and barely able to give more than 30% to the routine. The funny thing is that I don't feel like this is a strength issue. It's stamina that is stopping me more than anything. Can't really show a before and after picture for that but I am writing this so I can compare notes in a few months.

Thanks Elizabeth. I am enjoying Turbo Fire so far. I am going through the Fire Starter routine which is helping me. I am slowly getting the moves but I can definitely tell this is blasting my core section which I love. I am working to eat a relatively clean diet in order to really affect my body fat percentage and get the most out of this program.

I would love to hear what others feel about the program too. Congrats on the first week. Keep up the hard work!

Well I finished my first week this morning and I have really enjoyed it so far. I look forward to getting to the point where I no longer look like a completely uncoordinated idiot though LOL.

Breakthrough! The last couple days have I have finally begun to have those awesome moments where I'm totally "in" the workout and it is really getting fun (not to mention an incredible workout). I'm halfway through week two so it definitely took so patience, and humility, but it's starting to flow. Also, I love the sculpt 20 and sculpt 40 workouts. I only used weights during p90x but these bands are amazing! I may try using them next time I do a round of p90x. Also, as a yoga teacher, I found p90x yoga a bit tedious an boring, but the TurboFire yoga is stretch 40 is more creative and interesting.

Elizabeth
Thank you very much for the feedback from a yoga teacher perspective. That means a lot. I am not a yoga guy and always struggled with 90 mins of yoga x but I did enjoy the way it felt. I liked Stretch 40 as well and my abs loved the core 20 workout.

Hope to be there with you 'in' the workout soon emoticon
