Insanity and running
Insanity and running
1/23/13 9:38 AM
So I am on my 11th day of Insanity. It is insane and hard but I love it. Weighed 216 now weigh 208.1 I have lost 8 pounds so far on it. I am also starting to run races. I have a 5k coming up next month on the 2nd. I do 3 miles in the morning and Insanity in the late afternoon. It was going good until I collapsed in Insanity. My leg was in so much pain. I went half way through the video. I rested the leg the whole night with icy hot. It was fine the next morning and I did not go running but I finished the next day of Insanity. I want to know is how do I train for my races while doing insanity?

Are you training for your races everyday? If not, then do insanity on the days you are not doing race training. You may need to limit your Insanity workouts to 3-4 times a week. Only you can know your limits, be careful not to overtrain and cause more injuries.

I also run so i do 1 day of Insanity and 1 day of running. I take 1 day off a week usually on sunday.

I usually do both, running and Insanity. I usually run after I finish work at about 2pm and I usually do Insanity around 9pm, just to give my body a break.

You probably go a bit more in running since you are training for a marathon. I usually do between 2.5 and 3.5 miles a day, running laps, running stairs, jump roping, and doing some other plyo stuff.

I would also recommend breaking it up and not doing both on the same day if your body is giving out. Only do what your body can handle, but just push your limits everyday!

Good luck man!

I do about 3 to 4 races a month. I have a 5k coming next weekend. But I also train for 10 to 12 mile mental races in 2 months or half of a marathon coming up in 2 months also. My coach told me to not run because insanity will strengthen my legs etc. But I am afraid I will not be ready as far as right now I have been doing my 3 miles in the morning and my insanity at night and right now it seems to be working, but I am afraid I will blow my legs out.

I know its hard but slow your runs down or take a few days off. I hurt my IT Band by over doing it and 12 months later I still struggle. Hopefully insanity helps be drop the weight I put on since I cannot run as much as I used too.
