Starting Asylum
1/24/13 1:34 AM
I just received Asylum in the mail yesterday and I am super stoked to start it.

I did a test run through the Speed and Agility today and wasn't really happy with my performance. I expected my body to be more fatigued and tired after, but I felt I didn't workout hard enough. It seemed a little too easy, which means I didn't push myself hard enough. I was able to do all the different exercises, but it took me a few seconds to catch on to what they were doing at times.

Hopefully when I start the program on Monday, I'll feel better about my performance and effort!

I would watch each of the DVDs carefully before you start "officially" since Shaun doesn't really take the time to explain what you are doing first. That way when you are ready for it you'll be able to just go and focus on what your doing and be able to push yourself to the limit.

That's what I do, I watch the DVD's first before I actually jump in to it.

Good luck man! Asylum is probably my favorite program, though a lot of X2 is right there with it. Stick with it and you'll love the results.

Howz it guys!

Just finished my first day of Asylum and it went a lot better than my test run last week.

Kind of nervous for tomorrow's strength workout as it is all upper body weight lifting, something my body's not use to, but gotta push past and dig deeper!

Thanks CoachShayS! I'm liking it so far. A little nervous, but looking forward to the strength workout tomorrow!

Balancedwellnes- Awesome job! Keep it up!

Finished day 2 of Asylum today! the Strength workout!

I must say it wasn't as hard as I anticipated, but challenging nonetheless! But I believe I probably have to increase the weight of the dumbbell I used. Didn't want to go to heavy on the first time around.

Finished Day 4 of Asylum Vertical Plyo! Which means week one is done because tomorrow is a rest day!

Still working on getting some of the workouts down, but overall it was a great first time doing the vertical plyo workout, just have to push a little harder next week!

Vertical plyo is probably the hardest of Vol.1, Like I always tell my guys, if you can make it through vertical plyo without pressing pause and pushing all the way through, then you've mastered insanity.

I would have to agree! I felt that I could do the vertical plyo workout better so I did it again today, despite it being my rest day, and it was a much better workout. I know I should've followed the calendar, but I really felt that I could do it better so I did it again today instead of taking a rest day and I felt much better after today's workout.

Moving on to Day 6/Week 2 tomorrow with speed and agility!

Really enjoying Asylum thus far!

Vertical Plyo is definitely what separates the men from the boys haha. Gameday + Overtime also, but you'll get that gem soon enough.

Just a quick note, I wouldn't skip your other rest days. It's just as important for your body to recover as it is for you to work it out. Just my 2 cents!

Thanks for the advice, definitely will take in the rest days in the future. I was just reading the calendar wrong at the time as well, thinking Saturday and Sunday were also rest days, I don't know why I thought that, but I will definitely take advantage of the rest days in the future!
