Hi Tabataha,

As a Fitness Professional, I would recommend something less intense to start out. Insanity is a high-intensity workout If you haven't exercises in years, then you might be susceptible to injury. You might want to look at Slim 6, Power 90, Ten Minute Trainer ( for time), or even the Ultimate Reset. You can then progress yourself to programs like Insanity, P90x.

I hope this helps you. If you need further assistance both my wife and I are Certified Personal Trainers, and beachbody coaches. My wife is also a Certified Fitness Nutrition Coach. We would love to help you with your journey and answer any questions you might have.

In Health,

I agree with the previous post, however if the insanity workout sparks up your enthusiasm I would say go for it but be sure to modify your moves to what you CAN do now and work up to doing it full swing. I think one of the biggest things is your motivation. It's hard to get it but once you do you have to keep it. All I am really saying is that if Insanity is what's getting that fire burning use it! As long as you stay within safety for you. Using tools like a heart rate monitor can aid in making sure you are staying safe and it also helps to keep you excited watching the calories burnt number go up! Just get started is the biggest thing! Use your coach or if you don't have one get one and they will help in your journey to a healthier you! The coaches on this site are amazing and all want to help support you in that journey! Get it girl!!

Hi there,

I agree that it is tough however, I am the same weight I'm 202 lbs and want to get down to 160. I am 5ft 10 so slightly taller but I'm still over weight. I have been doing insanity for about a week now and I love it. I think my main motivation was the cost and that when I got it I had to do it! I'm not saying its going to be easy, I have a lot of trouble with motivation and I also eat the wrong things so I find it really tough, I don't follow the meal plan i just try to watch what I eat. I haven't lost anything yet but I feel so much better in myself I even sleep better. I'm someone who never used to workout only occasionally when I thought I needed to loose weight in which case I did it for a couple of days and then I'd give up and say "oh ill do it tomorrow" and tomorrow never came. I became lazy again and didn't eat properly. Then Xmas came and I had an awful time ate too much and that's how I got this weight. I did the fit test last Thursday then did the 1st workout. Then it was my birthday so I gave up. Started again Monday With the first workout again and I'm still going, if I get through my first week and into the second it will be my first achievement. I say go for it girl! Test yourself and don't be afraid to press pause and have a longer rest, the warm up is tough enough! But as you got through it gets easier!

If you need a buddy or just want to chat add me and I'll give you moral support!

Regards and good luck

Em,

You actually sound like you are doing great! Through all that you are sticking with it! Sounds like you are really going to do this! What exacly are you hoping to acheive with your Insanity program? What are your weaknesses, maybe i can help there too? I can suggest a few little things that may really help you stay accountable, not only to others but yourself which is important, if you haven't already find a group to join and that will help with staying in it! I can help you find one if you like, also if you have a smart phone you could use the My Fitness Pal app just to help keep track, I can help you set it up if you need and you could friend me on there and I'd be more than happy to offer advice if you would like. I also have a Facebook page if you would like that as well to get motivational posts as well as good fitness info and tips! Let me know!

Not an official Coach, just looking to get in shape and tone core to add some distance to golf game. I'm in week 3 of P90x, already just got Insanity for next round, or going to go the Hybrid routine. Admire you for taking the leap here, f the original poster doesn't respond, if you need someone to bounce off of let me know. Hope you are moving forward. I do this more for the mental part, keeps me fresh and energetic. Good luck to you, once you get the first week, it seems to be easier to keep going. Go for it!
