SORE FEET DOING INSANITY
SORE FEET DOING INSANITY
1/25/13 6:28 AM
Just looking to see if anyone has any advice or information which could help me. Im 6'1" 190 pounds and have fallen arches (flat feet). I have just completed first week of insanity program and my feet are extremely sore during and after workouts. Often forcing me to stop and take breaks to help with the soreness.

I started wearing running shoes with my orthotics and now wear basketball shoes with them.

Any advice or information on what i should do?

Thanks

Stand with a tennis ball under one of your feet and roll it around with as much pressure as you can handle. It helps stretch and massage. It's that painfully good feeling. Larry Shelton - EnduraFit

First of all welcome to Team Beachbody!!! How do you like Insanity other than your foot problem? I can fully relate to foot issues! Though mine arent from flat feet, I have had issues with my toes falling asleep! I have recently posted an article about shoes on my facebook page. First off where you live are there any specialty shoe stores in your area? I know we have one about an hour away that actually videos you while running and they can tell what your feet do and the best shoe for you! I personally started with a lower end running shoe and it worked for a while but then the problem came back. I recently purchased a new shoe, closer to a crosstrainer but keeps my foot more neutral. If you have access to a store such as I mentioned they would help to see if you are prone to pronation, supination or just neutral. Are your orthodics prescription or store bought?

I had problems with sore feet doing insnity, too, and while I may be different from you, I saw people posting about doing insanity barefoot and gave it a try. I started doing Insanity barefoot, and voila! No foot pain...not even a little bit as long as I went without shoes! If I wear shoes, my feet do still end up hurting (I don't go barefoot on hard surfaces, but do on my shag carpet at home and on the thin carpet in the workout room where I work). For me, I'm guessing it's because most of the sports I did throughout life were barefoot sports anyway (martial arts, gymnastics, swimming). I don't have flat feet, though, so I don't know if that would work for you, and would hate for it to cause more harm! It might be something to ask a foot professional about, though!
