Meal Plan HELP!!!
Meal Plan HELP!!!
1/25/13 7:55 AM
Hey,

So here is my issue, I started Insanity just over a week ago. And I have never felt so motivated or excited for a workout. I want to do my very best to get the best results but I'm worried about the meal plans. My biggest issue is I work up north in the Oil Sands. So I live in camp for 9 days at a time and am home for 5. I have a desk job so I sit for 11.5 hrs a day. I just want some advise on what I should be eating because in a camp situation food is made for you. They have tons of healthy options so that isnt the case but I just honestly want to give my body the best chance it has. I'll go through a day of what I usually eat and hopefully someone can give me advise on options to change or tell me if it sounds good. All help is appreciated!! emoticon

Breakfast-2 Hard boiled eggs with a banana
Snack-Fruit Smoothie-Almond milk, blueberries, strawberries and a banana
Lunch-Salad with Spinach tomatoes and steamed chicken or a wrap with steamed chicken, lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, peppers and bean sprouts with mustard
Snack-2 Apples with peanut butter (2 single serving packs)Almonds
Dinner-Steamed chicken breast with steamed veggies and a spinach salad with cucumbers, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, with light ranch dressing

I know its a little hard but I'm hoping someone can help me out, give me some ideas on meals to have and I can see if at camp I can use them.

Thanks guys!

Hey, congratulations on starting Insanity and getting to this point of just over a week! You are doing great and your motivation and determination comes through in your writing.

Your menu looks pretty good, are you using a app or website such as myfitnesspal to track and calculate your calories and nutrients? If not I would highly recommend it. you will be able to tell if your proteins/carb/ fats are in the correct proportions. if you need any help figuring out how many calories you should be taking each day , myfitnesspal or nutrient questions shout out, contact your coach or drop me a line.

Good luck and keep up the great work

Coach Donna

First off, congratulations starting Insanity.

It looks like what you are eating is good, but you don't say what is your total daily calorie intake.

I like you, have a desk job and spend a major part of my day sitting at it, so my calorie needs are quite a bit lower, as I suspect yours are. You need to calculate how many calories you burn in a day, just being alive (BMR). You can find BMR calculators on the interwebs. Then, add a little more to fuel your workouts. Be sure at the end of the day, you have about a 500 calorie deficit.

Good Luck!

Thank you! Its such a relief knowing there are people out there who are there for support it makes me excited to share and work really hard emoticon

I've been following Funeral for my fat, its a blog and on the blog I found the calculation. I'll write it out.

655+(4.35x weight in lbs)+(4.7xheight in inches)-(4.7xage)=BMR
so mine is 1683

Then you take that number and multiply it by activity level
1.2 Sedentary (little to no exercise)
1.375 Light (1-3 days a week)
1.55 Moderate (3-5 days a week)
1.7 Very Active

Most people use moderate level for doing Insanity so when I times 1683x1.55 it equals 2608.65

Then -500 for weight loss so that is about 2100 calories. So i'm trying to range between 1800-2100 calories a day (its hard work eating clean to get that many calories thats for sure! emoticon )

What i've been told is that this calculation is a good one to use so you dont have to minus out your workouts everyday. it takes into account your whole week so you just need to calculate how many calories you eat a day. I've been using My Fitness Pal to help me out with that.

Thank you for taking your time out to answer my question. Thats just awesome!

Thank you so much for taking the time out to answer my question! Thats what makes this whole product and this company awesome, people are there to help you and share knowledge. It makes it a lot easier to stay motivated emoticon

I do use My Fitness Pal, and I've averaged it out and with the calculation I should be eating between 1800-2100 calories a day (which is a lot of food when you are doing everything you can to make sure its clean and all healthy food i'm putting in my body) so I do get around there.

I just keep reading that you NEED to follow the meal plan and its a little hard up here to get grilled tuna or things like that that are in the book. But as I keep reading, if its important you will make it work, if not you'll make an excuse. asnd it is important to me emoticon

Would you suggest getting a protein powder for after a work out? I get back to camp around 5:45 then I do my work out, shower and then eat dinner. Would it be a good idea to drink a shake with protein and dinner, or just stick with dinner?

Thank you!!!

You are doing great! I think if you stay within your calories as well as proportions 40 c 40p 20 f you should be fine. Clean eating. Kick butt in your workouts and modify your calories needed. May need to increase both amountb& carbs . What's your goal?

Its good to know that I'm on the right track emoticon

I'm not sure what 40C 40P 20F means? Calorie, protein fat? Thats my best guess lol.

I dont really know if I have a goal in mind. I know that might be a bad idea because you should have something you want to work towards. But I dont really want to get discouraged by results. I want this to be a lifestyle change, saying away from processed foods and fast food, and all around junk. Move towards lean meats, fruit, veggies and good carbs. Of course deep down I do really want to lose weight and tone my body, i'm just trying not to make that the #1 priority. But i'd say if I have a goal weight its between 135-145. Might be an issue getting down that much and not looking weird but i'd also be happy around 150 as well.

Thanks for all your words of encouragment and support! its awesome

You're close - it's Carbs/Protein/Fat

If weight lose is not your "main" goal and you arent sure about a goal - how about something along the lines of

"complete all 90 days" It's a great goal to have, think about getting that T-shirt and knowing you did it - you completed the program.

Stay away from the processed and fast food and sugar too.

Those are great goals and a great way to start.

If I can help at all with anything shout out!
