New to working out .. starting TurboFire
I am completely new to this and TurboFire...I ordered the dvds the other day so still waiting. Any there an tips, ideas or anything? I also had knee surgery (microfracture) this past June, is that going to effect anything? Please help me out.

Thanks,
Tara

Hi Tara, Allee is a gal on the videos (to the right of Chalene) who demonstrates the low impact version of the workout. I try to stay true to the routine but if I'm super tired I'll do Allee's version of the particular move I want to modify.
Good Luck!

Hey Tara,

good advise above, watch Ally and modify the moves as you feel needed. If you bring the intensity you'll still be getting a great workout. I did a Turbo Fire/P90X hybrid and due to a past back injury (threw the disc out) and some knee pain I modify what i needed to modify. Basically I kept it on the ground and did no jumping or very little.

Got a great workout - and tons of fun... really like Chalenes HIIT workouts - can work them into any schedule - even the crazy days!

If you're looking for some motivation and a great group of people to chat with on the boards I've started a new thread for people who have a program recently - we have lots of P90X'ers , Insaniacs and others.

Check it out, message board thread link

Cant wait to hear how you like the program.

Hey Tara!

You will love Chalene! She is high energy and lots of fun! I have knee issues as well, though I haven't had surgery I still understand. Do you have a brace that your dr has suggested? If not I really like KT tape. You will laugh when you see it, you would think it won't work but I used it with Insanity until my know was strengthend. It may be a good idea to use something but once your knee is strong you may not want it so your knee isn't dependent on it.
Can't wait to hear how you like Turbo Fire! Lots of fun and a great workout!

Hi and thanks for the tip. I just bought a knee brace that I can adjust the tightness on it. So far the new brace feels a whole lot better than the ace pull on one. One you start moving around with slip on brace, I find my knee swelling up more.

I should hopefully have my DVDs by the end of the week. In the mean time I have been cutting back on junk food and trying to drop my pepsi intake so I won't be in so much withdrawals when I start. Just a matter of time.

Hopefully I have nothing but good things to say at the end of the 60 days!! If all goes well, Insanity is something I always wanted to try.

No problem!! That brace sounds like it should do great! Good job on working towards those little goals! That's a perfect way to do it too, baby steps, then your body isn't slammed into it! That usually causes craving and binging anyway so you are doing great!

Let us know when you get your DVDs!! This will get you ready for Insanity, good pick!!

If you are still having problems with your knee I would recommend trying the prep schedule that is in the Turn up the burn booklet that you get in your packet. I have always had knee problems and this has helped me strengthen the areas I needed to prepare for Turbo Fire. Good luck and you got this!
