So I am almost done with the first month of the asylum and I feel great! I have lost about 15 pounds and am looking noticeably leaner. I am advancing each time I do a work out with one exception. Whenever I have to do any kind of sustained squat exercise by legs burn up really fast. This doesn't seem to get any better despite my legs getting more muscular. Any advice on how to alleviate this?

Hi Matthew,

It could be do to a couple of things. Most leg exercises in Insanity are going to burn. As your muscle begin to go through adaptation, they will get stronger, but burn will be there. One thing that might be causing the burn, is any muscle imbalances that you might have. If you have over active hip flexors or IT band....under active glutes, this could contribute. If this is the case, your muscle might not be firing synergistically and you could be suffering from synergistic dominance. This is when the supporting muscle groups are dominating the main prime over. Using a foam roller with myofacial release technique will help correct muscle imbalances.

Hey Matthew, I noticed this as well when I was doing Insanity. You will get used to the prolonged squatting and lunging over time. But one thing I would always do and it helped me a lot is tons of extra stretching. I would do the P90x X Stretch video about 2-3 times a week on top of the Insanity workouts. This loosened up my quads, hamstrings, groin, and hip flexers.
