I just hit day 50, on day 2 of week 5 of Bulk phase.
I just weighed myself on a scale that may or may not be reliable but it says that i stand now at 173.9, up from 168.5. This is not breathtaking results, although i am pleased, and i know that creatine contributes to some of this.
My body fat %, according to the Omron tester, has increased to 11.9 from 11.5, though i can see more abs now, just only when i flex them and only a small bit.

Question is, what should i do now? I plan on laying off creatine--someone said that you shouldn't take creatine for too long, and should i readjust my caloric intake?
What are my next steps?

A gain of 5 pounds in a little over half the program is pretty good. I suggest continuing with the creatine, not sure where you heard that you shouldn't take it for too long? I also suggest taking a good quality protein isolate supplement mixed with carbs/sugars immediately after your workouts to replenish your muscles with fuel and start the building/healing process (3 or 4 parts carbs to 1 part protein). Your body fat hasn't really jumped at all, and it won't hurt if it jumps up another percent or two through the remainder of Bulk phase. You can cut it back down during the Beast phase when you cut your calories back down. That said, I suggest continuing to do what you are doing! If you don't continue to see an increase in size and strength then increase your calories. Just remember the scale and body fat aren't the only indicators you should be paying attention to… You should also be seeing an increase in muscle size and an increase in the amount of weight you are lifting as you progress through the weeks. Keep after it!

Hope you realise one thing, that 5 pounds is not muscle, its impossible to gain 20 pounds of muscle which the program "guarantees"

So the 5 lbs is obviously some fat too, i realize.
I heard that creatine should be taken for no more than 2 months at a time, then given a rest period of one month.

Your body fat barely changed so the 5 pounds you gained is nearly all muscle. Roughly running the numbers I'd say about 4 pounds muscle and 1 pound fat, which is pretty damn good for 50 days into the program. Keep after it and you'll keep building muscle. Yes your body fat is going to climb a little bit too but you can burn that off pretty easy during the last phase. It's a good program and it works!

Its impossible to gain 4 pounds of muscle 50 days. Unless you take steroids.
You can only gain 12-14 pounds of muscle your first / second year, go read up on how muscle building works.

Dont come back and say "oh i gained X pounds of muscle on X Beachbody program".

What about 30 days?



I'm tired of people making excuses for not getting to where they want to be. I have a client who started at 128 lbs @ 7% bodyfat who is now 145 lbs at 10% bodyfat and he has 15 more days to go. He is not taking steroids either, but he is eating like a horse.

Steroid is a word the lazy use to describe the DEDICATED.

You didnt gain 4 pounds of muscle in 30 days because its physically impossible to do so, go read up on how the body builds muscle please and stop acting retarded.
The only way to gain 4 pounds in 30 days is steroids. You know nothing and i can tell.

And you got the quote wrong, its not steroids.
Its "Lazy is a word the lazy use to describe the dedicated", atleast get the fucking quote right.

Please go educate yourself.
Gym takes long time and hard work, there are no shortcuts.
You can ONLY gain 10-15 pounds MAX a year unless you're on steroids.
Its embarassing how little you know.

Well said RBroussard. I've gone from 158 pounds to 176 pounds in 5 months and my body fat went from 6.5% to 10.5% doing the Beast, working my butt off, and eating more than I've ever eaten in my life. Do the math and that puts me at 10 pounds of muscle mass gained in 5 months. There is no limit...

There is a limit and you're seriously dumb if you believe you gained 10 pounds of muscle in 5 months.
Thats impossible without steroids, please educate yourself, you look like a fool.
Go to the grocery store and pick up 10 pounds of meat, and see if you actually think you gained that.
Stop posting if you dont even know anything about the body.

Thats 10 pounds of muscle, you didnt gain that much in 5 months, its physically impossible, quit body building if you actually believe it.

The thing you should learn from this, its not actual muscle you're gaining.
Its impossible to gain 6 pounds of muscle in 3 months even.

LOL, that's good! I was just estimating earlier so ran the numbers. hgeek you have gained 1.3 lbs of fat and 4.1 lbs of muscle in 50 days, a little over 2 lbs per month which is what most literature will tell you is really the max muscle you can gain in a month (24 lbs per year with intense diet and training).

Runing my numbers I have gained 10 lbs of fat and 8 lbs of muscle in the 5 months I've been doing the program, which is less than 2 lbs per month. The problem with the heavy eating is your fat is going to go up, but this is the quickest way to gain mass (both muscle and fat obviously). Once I gain another 10 pounds I'll start leaning out and burning the fat off. I don't like carrying around this much fat and would like to get back down to that 6-7% range. Y'all have a good weekend!

The last time I walked into a gym it was to get my body fat checked after my 2nd round of P90x (basically that Day 0 Body Beast Picture above). I was wearing my P90x tank top. As I was standing there waiting for a personal trainer to take my body fat measurements with a caliper I looked up and most of the people in the gym had just stopped working out...they were starring at me, and my P90x tank top.

I think they are the one's who were embarrassed, because at that time I was the most JACKED guy in the gym, yet I did not work out in the gym. I worked out at home.

Yeah I'm really an embarrassment...I obviously don't know what I'm doing.



You have good results, and it's a shame you are using them to belittle people trying to make changes in their lives.

I get your attitude about coach's...as I used to have a similar attitude. I started my Body Beast thread before I became a coach...as I was going to "show the coach's up"...but then everyone started asking my advice on things. I started getting contacted from people around the world...and people local to me as well...they wanted me to help them lose weight or put on muscle mass. They were inspired by me.

Do you know how good it feels to coach/help someone through a 50 lb weight loss or more? Or would you bash that person for getting into that shape to begin with? Rather than come to these threads and tell everyone that they are wrong why not offer something constructive? Share you opinion on things...don't just tell people they are wrong, tell them what you think is right.

I spent many hours on these threads helping people through P90x before I became a coach. It just felt good to help people.

You could do so much more with your time.

Stop linking your picture everywhere you post, its pathetic and its obvious that you're on steroids.
Just stop posting when you know NOTHING, you read up about the body on livestrong and teambeachbody is my guess.
You think you can build 4 pounds of muscle in 30 days without steroids? Go pursuit another hobby.
