Injured shoulder

Hello all,

I had tore my rotator cuff back in November. While its on the mend I don't want to push it either. I'm currently doing hip hops abs because I thought it would be easiest on my shoulder. While I like it I feel I could be working harder. Clearly insanity is out for the moment till I'm a hundred percent but I'd like a suggestion for another intense workout routine that isn't too taxing on the shoulder.

Hello

Actually, Insanity really isn't out of the picture. I too have had shoulder surgery in the past, so I have a pretty good idea what you're going through. Also, I bring Insanity to work and a bunch of us do the program regularly. One of the people in my group had should surgery a couple months ago. When they arrived and told me about it....I said, "Ohhhh, you might not like the workout". Honestly, they did everything with modification. If it was a push up move, they did bent knees and modified enough to get a burn with Range Of Motion only. That said, if you're willing to modify "some" of the moves.....you really can do the program.

If you have more questions or would like me to clarify anything further, don't hesitate to contact me emoticon I'm always here to help everyone succeed!

Hey I have an injured right shoulder and I too do Insanity, I just modify my push ups!! On my knees and sometimes I just put some serious weight on my non injured shoulder (but that's a no-no) I have worked up to my military push ups, but when I feel my shoulder stiffen up I just go back to modifying. Just know your limits!

Hope this helps and Good luck! BTW you can try P90X cardio workouts or just jog to get your burn! Spinning is my fave when I can't do anything else. Out of the beachbody collection maybe LMC but I can't be sure I've only seen their original w/o and they only do push ups at the end of the w/o!

I agree with the others. Insanity isn't that hard on the shoulders. In my experience you're trying to avoid overhead reaches with a rotator cuff injury, right? So you definitely want to avoid P90X with all its pull ups. But by modifying your push-ups from your knees I suspect you'd get a lot out of Insanity.
