gained weight on insanity!!!!!! help!!!

I am in the middle of my fourth week of insanity and i gained 6 pounds so far!!! i do not understand, i have never cheated, and never missed a workout!! and i am following the 40/40/20 plan with 1650 -1670 calories!! Im so disappointed.

should I go down to 1550 calories??

Ok, first off, I had a very similar issue when I did Insanity, didn't loose any and actually gained some, let me ask you this first, did you take pics and measurements? This is VERY important! If you did check those first, see if there is a difference. What was your goal with Insanity? From your profile pic you don't look like you were needing to lose weight, so it most likely is muscle. How are your clothes fitting, do you see more muscle tone?

You said you are following the 40/40/20 plan. If you can give me your height,weight, and age I would be able to know more where you should be. If you don't want to post it you can message me instead. It could even be where you are placing certain foods in your diet. Let me know, Hope this helps!

I've been having the same problem. I'm into week 3. Started out at 228 and weighed in this morning at 229. I've actually been trying to eat less calories than recommended for my size and activity but have still put on an extra lb. I didn't take any measurements before starting (which I now know was a mistake) but my jeans seem to fit better so that's good I guess.... Just still disappointing to be going the wrong way on the scale since I was hoping to get back down to my college weight of 200.

So I feel your pain!

Awesome to hear you are on you fourth week of Insanity!

I am curious if you took before pictures and measurements. Coach Amy hit it nicely. Are you seeing visual results? How are your clothes fitting? Have you noticed gains in endurance, strength, lung capacity? One thing I had to remind myself is that the scale isn't the primary thing to focus on while doing this journey. There are so many things the scale can't tell you, like what I mentioned above.

I would also look at looking over your calorie intake with the equation provided in the nutrition guide. One thing I also recommend taking a look at is proper water consumption. The adequate amount of water aids in flushing your body of toxins while also regulating your body temperature and ensuring your organs are functioning properly.

I noticed one of your other posts was that you just completed the Ultimate Reset. I would ask other people who have done the reset if they put some weight back on a few weeks after finishing that program. Like the others said weight is only one piece of the picture and if your fit tests are improving and you clothes are fitting more loosely then it's a pretty good indication that you are losing body fat but toning up.

I have not seen anyone say this yet, so I will throw it in.

Muscle density is 1.06 g/ml and fat density is (about) 0.9
g/ml. Thus, one liter of muscle would weigh 1.06 kg and one liter of
fat would weigh 0.9 kg. In other words, muscle is about 18% more dense
than fat.

So, based on your pic, I am guessing you are adding dense muscle and therefor more weight in a smaller space. When I first did insanity, I saw no weight loss (and had gain) until week 4ish. Then over the next 2 months dropped 60 lbs. I had 60 lbs to lose though. My guess is that I lost a lot more fat weight but countered it with muscle gain weight.

I learned a while back to "forget the scale" and just use a mirror and before and after pics. I like the way I look and no scale is going to change that!

Watch that calorie intake though. Too little and you will not have enough fuel to push through the workouts.

I am 5'2 and 143 pounds. i want to lose more fat and the picture is not very recent haha. i am also 18 years. do you think it is wehre i am placing foods? i do not eat any carbs past morning time excpet for a protein bar. i eat my carbs for breakfast and morning snack

so 1550 calories?? yes I have that! i track my calories at 1650 now, but maybe that is too high?

insanity gaining weight

I started Insanity very early Jan. 2013 and I have gained weight too! It is very disappointing. I started at 142 lbs (I am 5'6")and now weigh 150! Those work outs kick my butt every time I push play so I know that I am digging deeper but frustrated by the weight gain. I am eating 5 small meals a day. I have noticed a small difference in my measurements but not sure what the difference means since I am gaining weight. My thigh is down 1" since I started (a month & 1/2 ago) and waist is down 1" but I dont feel a difference in my clothes or see a visual improvement. Frustrating. It helps to hear that there are other people out there that are struggling with the same issue. I certainly not giving up and hope that I can find a resolution.

I am trying to get back down to 125 lbs and seems impossible.emoticon

Had you done such an intense workout before? I had a similar issue... but the problem could be that you might need to add more calories. BB posted an article not too long ago about some people gaining weight and some times you can drop those pounds by adding more calories. Your body might be going into starvation mode.

Is your calorie consumption the same/more/less than when you started Insanity?

Keep going!!! I finished Insanity and notices such a great difference in my strenght. I went back and did one of the videos from the first month and was able to do it much better now that I completed the program. I can do 22 push ups now where I could do maybe 3 before.... you may need your body to start adjusting to these type of workout and after the shock you will see the results you are looking for.
