Eating 5 times through out the day.. Timing is tough!
Showing 11 results.
Hey all!!!

So I recently started Insanity last week... Everything is great butttttt... I'm wondering if the times I'm eating my food is going to destroy me being able to get fit/lose weight. I work really late nights.. And don't wake up "early". By the time I wake up, it's anywhere between 10:30/11.. I make my first meal, then wait about an hour and work out, then get ready for work and have my second meal. I have a small snack before I go to work at 4:30... Then this is where I think I might be doing something wrong. I eat my 3rd meal between 6:30/7, my fourth meal anywhere between 9:30/10:30. I get off work at 12:30 and then eat my last meal around 1.

I know measurements are more important then seeing your weight drop..which I haven't measured myself yet, but I did weigh myself on an empty stomach on Monday when I first woke up and gained two pounds emoticon I know it's probably nothing to freak out about, but I would love some feedback from anyone either with or without a similar issue.

Any output would be great! emoticon

Thank you!!

It is normal to gain weight at first with a program like this so dont stress! I like to use the every 3 hour rule. I eat every 2-3 hours throughout the day. That keeps me from starving and indulging. you have to do what you have to do when it comes to your schedule. Just try to plan everything out the night before and take snacks with out that dont require preparation. You will be fine emoticon

Try not to eat 2-3 hours before bed either!

Yeah I haven't stressed too bad! I just did my measurements but I'm not even sure if I did them right!! emoticon I'm gonna have to have someone do it for me, or tell me how to do it correctly! Also probably doesn't help that I ate before I measured myself.. But I'll do it again in a week or two weeks!

We have the same rule cause I try to eat my meals roughly every 3 hours! By the time I get home and relax its usually around 3 before I go to bed, so I hope that's enough time for my body to process the food I eat around 1am >:|

Thanks for the tips!emoticon

Your timing all seems fine to me. The only thing I might change would be to just have a tiny snack like a banana or a very small smoothie upon waking, then work out, and then, after, eat a real breakfast.

But the timing of your meals is much less important than the quality and content of those meals.

Thank you for your response.. When I do eat my breakfast, it's never really a huge meal, but I will try that tomorrow emoticon!

I have a really crazy schedule as well (I work nights) and my pattern roughly follows yours. I think you are doing just fine. The biggest thing with Insanity is making sure you get all of your calories in. When I first started, I decided I was only going to eat 1200 calories a day. That was a poor decision. Once I upped my calories, I started noticing changes.

You are welcome. The reason I suggested the switch is so you actually can eat a good sized breakfast. Clearly you don't want to eat a big meal right before your workout, but right after will be fine.

I started it 3 weeks ago. My calorie intake says it's supposed to be 2100.. sometimes I don't even make it to that high of an amount of calories. I have the My Fitness Pal app for my iPhone.. when I work out I track it, or when I do food prep I track it.

Apparently, making food counts as calories lost? I'm not sure if it's too accurate, but I think my calorie intake is too high. -__- I don't feel like I'm losing any weight emoticon If anyone knows of any apps for iPhone's to track calories and such, let me know!!

I have slipped week 2 cause of my favorite time of the month.. so GIRLS!!! when that happens.. what do you do? Any recepies or food to not want to eat junk food but can make me feel "better" It would be great to know of some stuff!

Well yeah, I have always known that. But even when I eat something small and wait for almost an hour before I work out, I still have gotten a cramp while working out like just during the warm up..? Can anyone explain that??

Also... WAIST TRIMMERS!! Does anyone have any tips and tricks using one of those? I got a few spots that "jiggle" when I work out and it's really had to NOT notice them.. any advice would be great!

It is funny that I am reading this now because another girl I am coaching just asked a similar question. She is in her third week of Insanity and, well, her special friend came to visit so she was wondering what she should do. My advice, if you have to skip some workouts due to that, just re-do that week the following week. She is going to do some light cardio for the next couple of days, then on Monday restart week 3.

I wish I could explain the eating cramping but I cannot. I am however in the same boat. I cannot eat before a workout. Never have been able to and most likely never will be. I eat at 3am at work then the next time I eat is around 930am after my workout. I have found that if I am hungry before my workout, a few sips of water before I put the DVD in tends to take the edge off.

As far as the waist trimmer goes, I have not used one. When I work out, I let it all hang out, good, bad or otherwise. I figure it just motivates me, or acts as a counterbalance...lol!

Well regardless of how much pain I will be in or have been in for the past few weeks, I have only had to re-do one work out. The cramps I believe were from eating either to large of a meal, or eating too soon before I work out. I had heard or read somewhere that it was not good to not eat at least SOMETHING before your work out cause then you wouldn't really be doing anything productive(ex: burning fat) :/ or something. I may have to look that up again.

I really want to buy a waist trimmer! Really bad!!!^_^ They aren't too expensive!
