Coach Mike Toland Goes INSANE!!! (*Updated Fit Test #s*)
Showing 17 results.
I am COMMITTING TO INSANITY!

For the next 60 days my life revolves around this program.

I just finished the fit test and here are the results:

(***Fit Test #2 Posted ON 2-13-13! IMPROVEMENT ACROSS THE BOARD!!!***)

fit test 1 JAN 31,2013 fit test 2 FEB 13,2013
Switch Kicks 56 60

Power Jacks 47 54

Power Knee 94 105

Power Jumps 28 31

Globe Jumps 9 10

Suicide Jumps 18 20

Push-Up Jacks 36 42

Low Plank Oblique 48 56

I'll be looking to DRAMATICALLY improve those numbers over the next 60 days.

My beginning stats:

Weight 185

Waist 38

Hips 38.5

Chest 42.5

Arm 14.5

Thigh 22

Body Fat 19.1

My goal is to have my body fat no higher than 12 % by April 1, 2013 (which coincidentally is my birthday)

So, the math goes....

185 lbs x 19.1 BF% = approximately 35 lbs of body fat

185 lbs - 35 lbs body fat = 150 lean body mass

150 lbm x 12 % (bf % goal) = 18 lbs body fat

150 lbm + 18 body fat = 168 lbs with 12 % body fat.

I'm putting this out there to hold myself accountable and help to stay on track with my fitness goals.

Wish me luck, or even better, Join In

Hey Nick,

I'd be glad to help you out.

Do you have any BeachBody programs?

What are your fitness goals?

I will be sending you a private message in a little while with more details.

If you can find a few people to do your program with you I'd be happy to put up a challenge group for you to motivate and support each other. Maybe you could ask some of your cadets or fellow SGTs?

It'd probably be a wake up call for the cadets to see the all the SARGES kicking ass doing Insanity or P90X.

I'll be in touch soon. I just finished my Insanity Fit Test, now I have to go do Day 1 workout if I want to finish on April 1st, my Birthday.

Hey Nick Buddy,

I'm doing Great. I did Insanity Day 3 today. Cardio Power & Resistence and boy did I feel it. emoticon

I've decided to put up a Hit List of the BeachBody programs I'm going to be going through over the next couple years on my website.

Kind of a personal challenge to myself.

Anyway,

You said in our initial contact that you wanted to get huge.

Why is that an important goal for you?

What is your current height, weight, fitness level, body fat?

I imagine that being in the military you are probably in pretty good shape.

But, then again, before I ever did P90X I though I was in good shape too. emoticon

I'm sorry if the last private message I sent you seemed a bit pushy.

I really do want to see you have success with BodyBeast. I am going to be offering some free samples of Shakeology from my website in the next few days. When I get that set up I'll be sure to message you.

Do you have facebook, maybe we can be FB friends?

My facebook ID is Mike Toland

Talk to you soon.

So Today was day 3 - Cardio Power & Resistence.

It's been a while since I've done this workout and boy I am feeling it now.

I worked up a good sweat and it felt great.

I didn't do as well in Power Jumps as I thought I should, but my moving pushups and v-pushups were better than I remembered doing before. Maybe My legs were a bit tired from Plyo Cardio Circuit yesterday.

It was nice to have a really good 45 minute workout today.

I've been tidying up my diet and started tracking my calories at myfitnesspal.com

My supplements for this round are:

E & E 20 mins. before every workout
R & R within 15 minutes of completing workout

and of course:

Shakeology every day for breakfast. (Looooovvvvveeeeee that stuff!)

Out for now,

Coach Mike

Hey Coach, your math is off just a little bit.

I agree with your calcs on current weight to lean body weight being 150 pounds. But when you mulitply 150 pounds by 12 percent, you're not using the same equation. If 12 percent is desired body fat, than 150 pounds would be 88 percent of your ideal weight. Therefore, the calculation would be 150 pounds / .88 = 170 pounds ideal weight. To check that, take 170 pounds and multiply by .12 = 20.4 pounds. 170 - 20 = 150.

Congrats on having a solid goal in mind, and posted for accountability. Wish you success in your endeavors...

I appreciate the clarification TCR84.

Looks like I made a boo-boo in my calcs.

165 would actually put me a slightly below 10% body fat.

165 * .09 = 14.85

165 - 14.85 = 150.15 lbm.

Of course, the numbers get a bit skewed if lean body mass is added while fat is being burned. There are an awful lot of push-ups in Insanity.

I'll say that I'd be happy weighing between 165 - 170 with a bf% of < 12 emoticon

Getting ready to do Pure Cardio today.

Wow, Day 5 already.

Cardio Recovery yesterday was a bit difficult. I was expecting an easy stretch routine ala X-Stretch. Nope. This is Shaun T, and he even makes recovery extreme.

Some of the moves cause deep muscle stimulation which helps the muscle fibers to recover from the intense Insanity workouts. It was pretty hard to stay down in some of them and I found myself breaking form for a couple seconds just to let the burn subside.

But today I don't feel as sore as I did the first few days, so I guess it works.

I have to trust that BeachBody knew what they were doing when they chose Shaun to do this program. And, I have to trust that Shaun knows what he's talking about.

The final results will tell the story.

Out for now,

Day 6 in the books.

Plyo Cardio Circuit DONE!

I did better today than earlier in the week. I still needed a few breaks during level 1 drills and ski-abs. My goal is to be able to complete this workout without breaks by the end of month one.

If I can accomplish that I think it will propel me toward my weight loss and body fat goals.

Keeping in mind that results are a byproduct of the process.

Shakeology every day
E and E before workout
R and R after workouts
Good nutrition

See you soon,

Day 8 of Insanity in the books.

Cardio Power & Resistance today.

I did pretty good. I was pushing really hard in the second sequence, but I still couldn't do all the reps without taking breaks. My goal is to be able to complete this workout with NO breaks before the end of month 1.

I have this workout 3 more times before the recovery week.

Time to DIG DEEPER!

KPP, DD, DYB&FTR!

Coach Mike Toland,

out for now...

Day 11 Cardio Recovery today.

I did much better this time through. I only needed to come out of the lunges one or two times just for a couple seconds. I'm pretty confident that I'll be able to stay with the crew next time this workout comes up in my rotation.

Since I am currently buried under 2 1/2 feet of snow and did all the shoveling this morning, I decided that this would be a good day to try out Upper Body Weight Training.

I really like this workout. I stayed with the same (light) weight for the first two rounds just to get used to the pace and structure of this workout. For rounds 3 and 4 I upped my weight each cycle for the weighted moves.

I worked up a really great sweat and my shoulders, arms, and chest got a nice pump.

This workout is definitely worth looking into further.

I think for starters I'm going to add Upper Body Weight Training to my schedule on recovery days and possibly on my rest day.

One or two times per week should be plenty to ensure that I don't lose too much lean body mass during this run through Insanity.

I'm done with Day 12 of Insanity!

The days are flying by in this program and I'm getting stronger and feel so much leaner than when I started.

I'll post my stats after the next fit test which happens on day 15.

I'm certain I've made some progress.

Insanity Day 16 is in the books!

Wow, the days are just flying by now.

I did Plyo Cardio Circuit today and had a great workout.

I still can't do all the ski abs, but I got all the reps in every other set except for the final set of level 1 drills. (I needed two short breaks there)

I am seeing constant improvement and looking forward to my next workout.

Tomorrow I have Pure Cardio and Cardio Abs and I'm certain that I will absolutely crush it!

'til next time...
